Cloofter Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 What's your style of changing gears? Do you let the truck do it, or are you a manual person? Personally manual has the advantage, especially over those pesky hills. Since May 2015. Discord: Shaun#4513 Community Member since May 17th, 2015. GLASGOW, SCOTLAND. Cloofter/Shaun.
Guest Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Mine is set to Simple Automatic because I don't have a shifter yet, and I've never really liked using manual shifting on controllers.
-Greenfox- Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Definitely manual. You can speak with the engine with manual. With automatic you can just hear the engine but not speak with it. With manual transmission you can interact with the engine way better. With automatic it's actually very boring to drive. In rally or racing games I would choose automatic because you are faster with it but in this type of game the better way to go is to play with manual gearbox.
Mr.Tea Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Hey, manual. U can decide yourself, when u want to shift in the next gear.
BZen Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Hi, for me it's manual with a shifter and a clutch pedal, it's so much fun to play with the engine rpm ^^ Even if it needs an investment in a good driving wheel. BUT, in convoys I usually use Simple Automatic because the truck accelerates faster with that and the performance mode... did you noticed that as well ? Or am I doing something wrong ?
RazvanRO15 Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 I manually change gears. It's better when you climb a slope.
Courtz49 Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 i use manual H-Shifter, i find it more realistic Steam | TruckersMP Profile | Twitch
Bouncer_ Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Mine is set to Simple Automatic I have a steering wheel and shifter G290 but the desk I have I cant attached the steering wheel or shifter to I need a new desk lol
Dylаn Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 I use real automatic with my shifter, 3 for D and 4 for R. I sometimes use H-Shifter when I feel like it but most of the time I use auto. Dylan | Steam | TruckersMP | Twitter | Discord: .Dylan#0001
MightyPower Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Cheers lad, Basically from the start of my ETS2 "career" u started playing with my mouse, i've been steering, accelerating braking and such with my mouse, ofc shifting with mouse 4/5 button, indicating with scroll so basically i don't need my keyboard, hopefully that solves your question, i drive manual
ScaniaFan89 Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Sequential Manual / Adaptive Automatic via XB1, so Manual for normal driving but switch to Adaptive Automatic in low fps or convoys.
Callum. Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Definitely manual, much more realistic and as said above, you can control and speak with the engine much easier.
T.Rucker Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 My preference is definitely going towards manual. Even though I'd like to have a proper shifter, I am still preferring the sequential gearbox - which I currently use - over an automatic one. Back in the days when I switched from automatic to sequential, the in-game automatic was terrible, especially with heavier loads, so you could drive way more efficiently with manual gear changes. I don't know how the situation looks like with the current automatic gearboxes, as SCS has changed quite a bit in the meantime, but I won't even bother changing back to automatic, as it's just funnier and more challenging to drive with a manual gearbox. I think it just adds a bit more depth into the gameplay and makes driving a bit more challenging than just pressing a few keys/buttons/pedals... Visit us on stvtc.co.uk or join our Discord-channel
Phon Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Always full H-Shifter for me, with a 12 speed and a splitter button. It just feels the best and most "realistic" (even though most trucks nowadays are auto ).
SharpGlitter167 Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 Generally I use automatic on multiplayer as normally I forget to change gear as I’m only watching the road xD
ThiagoBR_ Posted August 18, 2019 Report Posted August 18, 2019 I love playing in the Manual! But I only play on automatic Languages: English | Portuguese | Spanish Rules || Report a Player || Appeal your Ban || Create a Support Ticket || Let us know your Feedback Member since 02th June 2016
[ChExp] Yuz [UA] Posted August 19, 2019 Report Posted August 19, 2019 Only hardcore. Minimal power engine (320-360 HP), full load (45-61 t.), montain roads, quarries, off-roads and, of course, manual gearbox (at least 12 speeds).
tattytate Posted August 19, 2019 Report Posted August 19, 2019 I’d love to use manual but I’ve never managed to get the game to find the cluch
Millennium1001 Posted August 19, 2019 Report Posted August 19, 2019 I like both. Im usally driving with automatic but I also like it to drive with manual. Both have advantages, with automatic you can concentrate more on the traffic and with manual you have a way better control about your truck, something that annoys me is that my truck isnt shifting into 6th gear when driving 80kmh, but when I drive manual I can do that myself. Both have adventages and disadventages. Why
General18 Posted August 19, 2019 Report Posted August 19, 2019 Manuel (Pad shifters) You can prepare for hills, and you can accelerate sooo much faster, if you do it right General18 TruckersMP My supported languages: English, Danish Support | TruckersMP Rules | Feedback | How To Downgrade
Juαn.Cruz Σ #00 Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 In SP, it depends of the truck, just to add more realism to the game. If I'm driving a new generation Scania, I would be using an automatic transmission (with some eco / power mode, so the behavior depends on how far do you press the gas pedal), and if I'm using an old Renault, or an old Scania (like a 114h), I would be using a manual, so you know the difference about driving experience between an old truck and a new one. In MP, I always use manual, no matter what truck would I be driving. The experience in MP is different (in SP I use physics and truck mods, where you can't go more than 80 km/h because you will have a rollover crash), and I need total control on my truck, just for emergency situations (example: emergency braking on a hill= with an automatic: 80% of possibilities to get stuck | With a manual: having skills with the clutch is the important thing for not getting stuck.
[GTR - 001] Xiao Mo Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 I've always used a real manual transmission to better experience driving pleasure.
[GökTürk] Enver Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 Hello ; Manual Transmission is More Advantageous at Take Off. So my favorite... Good Games ; Good Forums ;
[IMPERIAL] ScR1oN Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 I have a Logitech Driving Force GT gaming wheel, it has a sequential gearshift switch. I usually use an automatic transmission, but when overtaking or driving uphill, I switch to sequential mode, this helps me almost not lose speed. I advise you to try to do this
jensk2610 Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 I use simple automatic, since I just like relaxing and not having to think of gears
