Development of Additional Customisation (The popular unofficial mod I have been running for over a year) has now ceased development in its current form. It will be developed but it will be different, as the formula for it has not changed in its time and it has meant it has gotten too big for its own good.
For those who use this mod, please fill in this feedback form:
The feedback gathered will affect the direction I take the mod in. Once the feedback has been used, all copies of it will be removed even though it does not include any personal data.

Thanks @Forerunner I hope this datas helps..

Another preview for the next version of Additional Customisation:
Everything you see here is done with the Additional Customisation mod, there is no manual save editing needed.
Please do not ask where to download it, as it is not yet released as it is still being worked on.

For players who are waiting for Additional Customisation to be updated, here is a feature preview:

Just going for a drive in a TruckersMP Scout car, but with a 1.8 ton cargo:
The cargo is a 10 1/4 inch gauge steam locomotive - even with the boiler empty, a locomotive like this would weigh around 1.8 to 2 tons.

@NotSoFancyFox there is no link - I made it and do not plan to release it.

@Forerunner Ok then, thanks for the answer.

This is what this truck was built to do, liking 1.33 experimental already:
-
^yes 1.33 experimental beta. @BL4CK$K1LL
Absolutely brilliant. @Forerunner
-
whats 1.33 got in store for us?
EDIT: NVM, i didnt realize there was a blog post containing information. wasnt sure where to find it at first. but other than general tweaking, seems like we're getting a few more overall ownable trailers and turnpikes. hopefully turnpikes come to ATS since the files for the 2 axle converter dolly are already there.

About the change to "local-only" mods:
Not all local-only mods are banned. To those of you who save edit yourselves, use of /home accessories is still permitted when used as a "vehicle_addon_accessory"; for non-save editors this means that the local only mods can only be cosmetic and cannot affect physics or sounds. So your custom lightbars, window logos, hologram GPS and similar are all still compatible, assuming they were made correctly - and even if they weren't they could be adjusted with relative ease.
You can still make highly customized and good looking trucks, they won't be exactly the same as they may have been before the change though.
Some trucks of mine to prove my point:
In this example, the bullbar and fuel tanks are all a custom f_grill addon accessory - so are both still permitted for use.
In this example, all of the custom work is applied as a sun visor addon accessory - so is still permitted for use
Easily the most "extreme" example that springs to mind is this: without the local parts this is a Volvo cab on an old Mercedes Actros chassis (see spoiler below). The local parts used here attach to the sun visor and bullbar slots (depending on if its cab or chassis mounted) - the cab mounted model includes the stretched cab, beacon bar and front corner deflectors; the chassis mounted model includes the fuel tanks, exhausts (see spoiler below) and the Volvo chassis front, which hides the original Mercedes front. All together, this truck and the parts talked about create a convincing long frame 6x4 Volvo while still being permitted as all the custom work is of the addon accessory type.

SpoilerBefore modifications:
Rear View (showing the Mercedes chassis is still there):
As proven here, good looking custom trucks can still be made and used in TruckersMP within the rules of the new auto-kick.
Modding existed before I unveiled the use of /home - It existed before all /home parts were allowed - and it will continue to exist.

Well I really wish they would update it to allow skins again. There aren't any trailer mods I can pull parts off of because the custom 53' is a standalone trailer and doesn't work off of the SCS base so I don't think any of those parts will align correctly on a normal trailer. Just gotta wait it out I guess.

For those who are users of my Additional Customization mod, here is a progress update:
Changes:
- Completely overhauled the truck customization, now parts are found in the usual places (for example, sideskirts from other trucks are found on the sideskirt dot)
- Engines, Transmissions and sounds are now the only parts in the list from the old versions
- Scania and Daf grills are now fully select-able, no more having a part of the grill being unchangeable
Additions:
- Engine HP badges and such are now also in the parts list from the old versions
- Trailer customization has been upgraded the same way as trucks
- Ability to mix box trailer body types, for example a curtain sider and a reefer in a b-double
- Krone DLC
About the release:
I hope to release a "preview build" of the truck side of this version (1.4.0) in the next few days, however the trailer side will not be released until 1.32 is supported by the TruckersMP Client. Please do not private message me asking for early access to any part of this mod - it will be denied. The files in the main release and the truck preview will be locked.
One last note:
The current file count for AC 1.4 (this version) is 41,286, so AC has now gone over the 40 thousand file mark.
-
Well, that's 45 minutes not entirely wasted: <video>
No practical use yet, but it works.

A comparison between an MP truck before and after having local only mods applied:
It is the same (original) cab and chassis underneath, all that has been added are local only "shells" which make it appear custom, when it is not.
Before (simple hybrid, allowed under the rules, nothing special to be honest):
After:
Explanation:
Cab "shell" added to appear as an XXL cab (extended), deflectors added, customized front grill, escort beacon added - this is all one accessory (addon_accessory, ext_interior)
Chassis "shell" added to make the Mercedes chassis appear as a Volvo chassis, rear vertical exhaust added, large side tanks added - this is all one accessory (addon_accessory, f_grill)
Notes:
This mod is compliant with rule 3.4, if you attempt to make a similar modification, you MUST ensure you do not break this rule, you can find it here: https://forum.truckersmp.com/index.php?/topic/58155-truckersmp-rules-en-15-04-18/
This mod is not going to be released anytime soon, neither will it be sent to anyone; this status is intended to simply show the potential of these local only mods when combined with regular hybrid trucks.

@ScaniaFan89 no I cant do anything with sound mods, in order to comply with rule 3.4. The exhaust and fuel tanks were modelled by me for this vehicle. Thank you btw as well
-
@Forerunner I would love to have that exhaust in a twin tip form or as it is.
also would be great if mwl or whoever made a simple open pipe sound for all trucks that can be on or off, if they can do a clown horn that should be easy

Anyone remember the SCS blog post about ATS Special Transport?
Well i recreated the test trailer:
After just one turn, i can say that these will be more challenging than ETS2 Special Transport:
-
I'm thinking of doing a Q&A livestream somewhen, who would be interested in that?
-
Which of these do you guys think is better? (2 ATS trucks)
Roadtrain Hauler:
Log Hauler:
Both designs are based from (and made using parts from) vehicles in Extreme Trucker 2 (SCS software) that were used for the same purpose.
Please let me know which you think is better.

Decided to revisit one of my old singleplayer mods. I made this before 1.28 came out, using an ATS-ETS2 hybrid to get the original screenshot, but since then this mod was just left and new mods were made.
Original version:
New Version:
This isn't just a set of fixes and improvements, this is a complete re-build which adds paint support and fixes the handling so that this combination will go anywhere a single trailer will. It may get released however it depends on a few things.

A new blog post on my site, the first in ages but still:

Oh yeah, along with DLC support I'm also adding support for something else for Additional Customisation:
