Allow AI models to be used

I like the idea and think it would be great with having more variety as @Artical DAN said.
On the other side, i don't think it would become reality any time soon.

I believe they have received this suggestion quite a few times. I do believe it's a good ideia but doesn't seem easy to do... we shall see. (+1)

The problem with that is that AI models are low poly and dont have a great interior , so this would mean either re-work some cars and add interior or keep them as it is and add a scout interior which then does not make sense , then you can use scout only. Too much work for something you already have, just because it looks different it would not change anything that you cant have with a scout.

I agree with @jiuras, but the only problem is that the AI cars have low poly interiors, while the Scout has a high quality interior. As for other models, I wish there was some variety. At least the Combi version should be there. It is the same, but an estate car. This is a truck driving simulator, but as far driving physics go, it is really good and I don't really know any other game with something similar to this, maybe BeamNG Drive, but that is a physics engine attached to a game and that is single player with no hope for multiplayer (too physics intensive). Also, the Scout is someone elses mod that they bundled in, not something developed by TMP, so they would have to work with the developer. Adding more cars to ETS2MP is more of a pipe dream than anything. It could be done, but the mods of TMP should be okay with this. At least have better support for paint jobs in game, instead of having to save edit. (But this is a base game issue, not an ETS2MP issue) It might be possible to use the AI models and redo them with the modern interiors, but that would be a pain to do so. It might be possible though so that could be an option.

This is not as simple to do as it seems, as many of the AI cars models will cause a crash to desktop if you try using them in the upgrade menu. It is also worth noting that just swapping the chassis will mean the Scout sounds, interior etc are still in use, as seen in the Escort vans used by the event team or the vehicles from Real Operations; all of which are highly imperfect to the point where the vehicles from Real Operations rarely moved during the event, with one vehicle not being used at all. These vehicles also required a very odd method in order to work, which can lead to issues during updates - with Real Operations vehicles that is not an issue as they are only used on specific occasions, whereas a player-usable one needs to be able to be in constant use.

This would be great to see a variety of cars around instead of just the same Skoda every time. Although it is a TRUCK SIMULATOR GAME, it would add realism as not everyone would like to be driving their trucks at all times. I switch every now and then to a Skoda and roam around after doing long hauls on my Scania. Low quality textures would not be so good but if they specifically made vehicles or added vehicles that would be optimized for multiplayer, that would be nice. They could also add different kinds of vehicles/trucks for admin or civilian use such as firetrucks, police trucks, etc. They could also probably use the in-game props like road cones and such to guide/block traffic. It could even go to a point wherein there are players/characters that can get out of the trucks/vehicles, interact with others, have coffee shops, meets, etc. Who knows right? Been here since ets2mp alpha in 2014 and damn, so much improvement and more to come.

The thing is that's an SCS thing.

 

Personally I would love to see this suggestion added. It would provide more variety and could actually make traffic look more local. Maybe if players take more pride in the cars they'll respect them more.

Alright. Euro Truck Simulator falls in these categories: Truck simulator, DRIVING simulator. Why not having more models in the scout car? It doesn’t add more cars. It’s the same thing just a different model. It will change the variety in truckersmp AND it will bring some atmosphere. This is a game changer you know? In the first week of this being in the game people will drive more cars but they will be back at the trucks in no time! Plus it will bring more players and it will be more fun driving “another car”. There is currently no peaceful multiplayer driving simulator that only involves cars... we can use euro truck as our advantage!

Well said. I was looking forward to the possibility of using that van. Also, you forgot to mention all the new blue strobes for the scout, which we were told would cause lag.

I would like to see all vehicles in the game be buyable or at least useable to some degree, would make for an interesting drive.

-1 - I there's already a scout car in the game so why would you need any more in which is less detailed. This is a trucking game so I don't really understand why people want to drive cars. 

 

Adding ai to MP will make the game feel more realistic but I feel trolls will take advantage of them.

I can see both positives and negatives with this. Yes it would be cool to drive different cars.... but, it's still a truck sim and wasn't designed for cars but for trucks
