Team NLD Gaming Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Suggestion Name: Suggestion to "10 seconds no headlights" Suggestion Description: Add a message [with a beep] in the Navigation. Any example images: Why should it be added?: I've got kicked of the servers many times before because I didn't had my headlights on [according to the game]. It would be a great addition to add a beep and a message at the navigation-system to "Turn on your headlights within 20 seconds or you'll be kicked from the session". And why 20 seconds? Because there are people at TruckersMP/ETS2 who are new and still need to have the chance to get used to their button-layout/keyboard-config. Let's hope that the devs/mod-creators will consider this option if possible. 8
SprinterFS Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 The current time limit is about 20 seconds after successful connection to the server, but the first message shows up at 15 seconds. Players with no headlights are dangers at night, and thus need to be removed as soon as possible. Not understanding the keyboard layout is not an excuse to create danger. While I do have a thought to optimize this system since the current one is less than noticable, and many players can not read English : Fortunately we have a globally standardized symbol for headlights. The red number will count down from 15 to 0, and to make it even more visible, the whole icon can flash during the last 10 seconds. Opening this one up for discussion. 1 -- One banned troll means one sad troll. Conserve banning. Syntackz Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 hello, i think this suggestion was already made. first it was 10 secs headlight auto kick but later it changed to 15 secs. 1
SprinterFS Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 ^ While a yes on your point, the other main part of this suggestion is about making the message more noticeable, which is not implemented so far. -- One banned troll means one sad troll. David E. Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 It's a great idea in my opinion. Many players are kicked due to the lights, even without knowing it needs to be on.
Rootyyy Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 +1 from me. I often find myself being caught out by this.
TgEmma Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 +1 from me 15 seconds is not nearly enough, sometimes i accidentally press the wrong button and am not able to get to the correct one quick enough
Harpreet Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 I'd prefer higher like 30 but that suggestion with the icon flashing is really good. +1
TSRVTC Exam Bus 51 (Norm) Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 I'd say 25 seconds would be adequate to turn on headlights and get situated in game.
_.Queen Rosalie._ Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 To be honest, everyone should get a 60-120 second time frame to get their lights set etc, this will count down visually, but a message and a shortened timer of 10-20 seconds should only appear about lights if the truck starts moving without lights with a audible sound much like a door chin when you open a car door with the lights still on. Because some of us set up loads and such before configuring our truck to move anywhere and so if you have 20 seconds it’s cutting it very short. personally, I’d go a step further by: once the player spawns in fully, a 120 second visibly starts counting down, this can be stopped by turning on side lights/parking lights. once the player then turns on the electrics and starts up, a visible message warning the player to turn on their low beams will appear. if the player ignores this, but stays stationary a 60 second timer and a chim/alerter will start to further warn the player. if the player ignores the first warning and starts driving, a louder alerter will sound and a 10 second timer will start counting down with a much larger message warning the driver to turn on their lights immediately. If warnings are followed, both timers/alerts/messages will stop once lights are switched on. If warnings are still ignored the player will be kicked and the incident logged for admin review.
RequieB Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 it's already seen as a warning. I don't think there's any need for an extra warning tone or light. It's too late for this year, but it can be done next year. I think it's a reasonable idea. RequieB Game Moderator of the Year 2018
Guest Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 good idea,ı agree with you because I usually close the chat and I have to look at the clock. a suggestion that I need. +1
TUNANKA Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 When it malfunctions, you're helpless, or the duration should be extended.
FernandoCR [ESP] Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 (edited) I think that people pay little attention to the messages. I've never been kicked for not having my lights on. Usually, switching them on is the first thing I do before moving, but sometimes I can forget and have no problems to see the warning. A flashing icon would be better, that's for sure, but there will be still plenty of players who won't have a clue about what that symbol means, let's not forget that there are lots of under 15 y.o. players who have never driven or worried about traffic rules, signals, conventions, etc. More comments: The autokick only jumps if you're moving. You see the warning, you can switch your lights on or pull over and stop if you can't find the key/button. 15 seconds is more than enough for that and then you have all the time in the world to find the key and keep driving once the lights are on. For those who claim that 15 seconds is not enough if your engine refuses to start, there's the option, in gameplay settings, to avoid starting electricity and engine at the same time. Players who untick that option, first time they hit the "Start engine" key/button, the electricity starts and they can switch lights on, even with the engine completely broken, second time, the engine starts (or tries to). With this, they wouldn't be kicked because of the engine stalling. And if it's come to that situation, player's choice should be to stop at a safe place and hit F7+Enter or /fix instead of trying to keep driving a badly damaged truck that will keep stalling until it gets repaired. Nuckchuck Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Brilliant Idea! As SprinterFS said, some people don't understand English. I reckon the the message could popup in the middle of the screen to tell the player to turn on their headlights. This could be translated in other languages if possible.
Gitarre3 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Good idea! Then you also notice it when the game is minimized. +1
Guest Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Nice idea! I think developer @mwl4 should take a look to this & another good ideas from the community
SuperMouse Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 I know a lot of people have said they get kicked because the engine failed and they can't get it on in 15 seconds to get the lights on. Also a beep sound would be good, because it is fairly early that you have to turn your lights on when you thin you would be fine without them on.
Flynn Dawson Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 @SuperMouse that is pretty weird, the system doesn't seem to kick me when the engine is off or when I'm not driving. However I'd support this idea, based on the fact that I'd agree with the statements made in the previous reactions.
SuperMouse Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 @Flynn Dawson I would guess rather than it being if the engine is on or off, its based on if the truck is moving - I think if you stall and stop it doesn't kick you but when you are rolling along and you stall you get the warning. That would be my guess, that's why when you are parked you don't need you lights on.
Flynn Dawson Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 @SuperMouse If that's true, than it would explain why I wasn't kicked. However in case the engine is stalling, wouldn't it stop your truck already in that 15 seconds? Whenever you turn the truck on again, the lights go on too, so that couldn't be the issue.
Xpert Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Instead of a warning shown on the chat screen, I think the warning should be a pop up, just like how a pop up appears when you enter a city. A pop up with an alarm would be good enough.
Amber Rose Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 8n my opinion, I think the 10mim warnings for headlights are little useless. Lol, sometimes I will be driving in the day and time being too to turn on my headlights lol.
