No real steering Wheel as my Main Hobby is Flightsimming. I kinda "borrow" my Flightsim Equipment for ETS but it's great fun anyway. I'm using the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke in Combination with the Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. The Yoke with the Throttle has enough Buttons to control every Feature needed while driving (Indicators, Lights, A/T Gear Shifts, Head Movement...)

Wow, don't I feel old, I'm using a PS2 controller. LOL. My son has the G27 but won't let me bring it my shop where I usually play ETS2mp.

I'm wondering, how do you do this? I've got quite a few PS2 controllers laying around here and was wondering if I could use them somehow.

I'm currently using the Logitech G400s mouse for steering. It may not be as entertaining as a wheel, but precision it certainly has.

I have recently purchased a G27 because it was cheap at a local shop. I quite like it, much nicer and easier to get the trucks around the tighter corners without having to apply silly amounts of brakes, and without sacrificing stability at high speed. I do plan on modifying the controller slightly though. New brake spring, velcro in the shifter and maybe a new bigger wheel if I can find one I like for cheap.

It's a 3 dollar item on ebay I bought years ago http://www.ebay.ca/itm/PS2-PSII-DDR-Playstation-to-USB-PC-Adapter-Converter-N-/150655774140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2313c8adbc

Actually I'm using the Logitech G27  CH Products Throttle Quadrant which provides me with an additional 12 buttons.
In the future I hope to create a 'dashboard' that I can use for both SCS games and Omsi.

Controller setup:
Steering wheel

flippers: left- and right blinkers

top left: trailer attach/detail

top right: activate

middle left: light horn

middle right: engine brake

bottom left: warning lights

bottom right: horn

G27 attachment

top 4: top: retarder decrease (up), right (display info page), bottom retarder increase (down), left: air horn

HOV-switch: left: cruise resume, up: increase, right: on/off, down: decrease

bottom 4: prev radio track, stop radio, play, next radio track

Quadrant:

1 up: light modes, 1 down: gear selector 1

2 up: flash lights, 2 down: gear selector 2

3 up: axle up/down, 3 down: parking brake

4 up: beacon, 4 down: wipers

5 up: nVidia ShadowPlay Record, 5 down: ShadowPlay recording save (handled outside ETS2)

6 up: elec on, start engine, elec / engine off, 6 down: create screenshot

Together with TrackIR I don't need the keyboard of mouse to drive, while I still can control every aspect of the game.

I use the move in the menu's (truck/garage/driver managers, profile
