  1. Well crap... I just made myself R$ 215.88 poorer because of Rocket League. :I I hope I won't (and I better not) regret buying this Xbox One controller. It should arrive in the mail next week.

@Mike Dragon Why didn't you tell me that before.

Why didn't you say anything about refunding in your status.

  2. Well, ain't that nice? As I drive over the bridge above Death Road (screw that road, I'll go around) with dozens of trucks underneath, suddenly my game bugs out and my truck magically stops on a dime and just won't move, at all! I had saved the game a few meters behind on the shoulder so I loaded the game to not block the road, anymore. Even so the truck still wouldn't move. Parking brake? No. Engine? No. Retarder? No. Service brakes? Not really. Though it's as if the service brakes did lock freeze. The brake light on the dash was on. The truck only moved after I pressed the brakes key a few times. Only then the light on the dash turned off and the truck moved again. It's almost as if the brakes had locked and I needed to pump them. So weird!

      antrax737

If you have air brakes simulation turned on that could be it, when you use brakes a lot you run out of air and brakes lock, I use air brakes simulation but that has never happend to me since i play with g27, with keyboard it happend to me a couple of times

    2. .StεvƐ.

      .StεvƐ.

it sounds to me like an air simulation issue, especially if you have any sort of damage, when the truck is stopped, it will lose air pressure and the light on the dash will come on along with the warning sound. I drive with all realistic systems on and find if I have damage or pumped the brakes a lot (particularly in stop start traffic) then the pressure goes away pretty damn fast and before long you get the warnings telling you youre low on air.

Ive had it happen to me sat in the jams on hells corridor (Duisburg- Calais road) when ive shut my engine off and free rolled down the hills to save fuel, if I don't watch the air gauge, suddenly the brakes lock because ive over used the brakes and because the engine is off, the air isn't being refilled.

Except for one detail: I don't have air brakes on. :\ Even if I had, I rely mostly on the retarder and engine brake for slowing down. If I need to quickly stop, then I use all three types of brakes. And I had 0 damage too. It was just a weird bug, I believe.

  3. Well, apparently I am going to be reported...

For scoring a goal for my team by accidentally stealing the goal from my teammate on Rocket League, just now. Who's going to report me for it.

    wat

He got SO mad at me for scoring twice that when our third teammate scored, he insulted us and quit the server. lol XD

  4. Well, ATS seems to have finally been fixed so here I go! On my way to the US. :D

  5. Well, I should go work on some art but my head is too tired so let's see where doubles on ETS2 will take me, today. :)

  6. Well, I will go to bed. Got a busy morning ahead of me. Good night to all who are staying around for a little while more!

  7. Well, s**t.

    Fine. I didn't want it anyway. :\

  8. Well, sh*t. I've had a weird power outage this evening but my computer kept on working fine after the power came back. That is, until I tried to read a CD in the DVD drive. It got super slow then it blue screened. After that it's been acting weird and S.M.A.R.T gave me a warning on my primary hard drive when I checked Crystal Disk Info. -_- It better be a false alarm 'cause I really cannot spend money on a new hard drive, right now.

Do you have a lot of important data saved on your main hard drive? Might be a good idea to back up some stuff on a USB key, external hard drive or online cloud.

I sincerely hope that it didn't do enough damage to your drive... Worst case scenario could be that data gets corrupted as the hard drive functions.

    3. Mike Dragon

      Mike Dragon

I assure you that my important data will NOT fit in a pen drive. XD

      qAJurdV.png

Anyway, I have been backing up the most valuable data to my work computer's secondary hard drive. Still, that's only the MOST important data. Everything else I have is quite important but not everything can fit the other computer so it is imperative that I get a new large drive. Preferably one that's AT LEAST 2TB large. My primary drive is still working fine but if there's one thing that being a computer technician has taught me is that, once S.M.A.R.T starts giving out warnings, it is time to immediately seek a replacement.

  9. Well, this might be a problem...

I ordered that GTX 1060 a few hours ago but only now I learned that its DVI port does NOT support VGA. Sure, my monitor does support HDMI but here's the catch and the reason I don't like using HDMI: Colors on it look colder, even on the "warm" settings. That can be a problem for me because since I do digital art, it is extremely important that I have the most vivid colors as possible being displayed, otherwise I risk using the incorrect shades of colors and that could ruin my artworks. :(

Do you guys know of any converter I can use to get my monitor connected to the DVI-D port via VGA? I can't afford a new monitor, this issue is a huge deal for me and for various reasons I do need this GPU upgrade.

  10. Well, time to waste about an hour of my Sunday and go out to vote. If we Brazilians had the right to vote, as everyone claims we do, voting wouldn't be mandatory and result in punishment if one does not vote. So cheers, everyone!

  18. Welp... I guess I hate my life and want to die now (this is a joke, by the way. No one should wish to die, never! I'm being comically dramatic. Do NOT take that first sentence seriously. In fact, this sentence is a reference to an old video that used a Parry Gripp song, which I will link below)... I just finished season two of The Dragon Prince and there's no season 3 out yet or news of when it will be coming out and I don't know what to do now that I have been left on a massive cliffhanger of this awesomely epic fantasy story that brings together humans, elfs, dragons, magic and a buttload of other epic things.

  23. What a terrible Sunday, this has been...

Since Friday night my internet has been very slow, on Saturday it was slow, unstable and dropping constantly and this issue carried on into Sunday, so I tried to call my ISP, only to find out that the phone line is dead. So I had to call them from my cellphone and they should send someone up until Tuesday. Freaking Tuesday! The result? I could not participate in today's public convoy. First time something out of the ordinary is done for one of these events and I was unable to be there. Crap! But you know what? That was not that bad. Why? Because even worse stuff happened!

On Friday I picked up a client's computer to be formatted with backup. The plan was to start working on it on that same afternoon so then I could finish it on Saturday morning and be free for the weekend then just deliver it back on Monday, but then I found out my car had a leak in the master cylinder of the brake system, which heavily decreased the car's braking capability so I needed to get that sorted out immediately. I spent the afternoon at the mechanic to get it fixed so when I came back home in the evening, I went to work on that PC instead of resting.

But it's fine, I carried my work as usual. Booted into a Live Windows with Hiren's Boot USB, copied all the files the client pointed me he needed plus his emails to my external hard drive, double checked the backup to ensure everything was fine and then, already past midnight, I shut down the computer. The backup was pretty big, with over 500 GB of data, total, so it took a very big chunk of the evening on Friday. On Saturday I worked on formatting the PC and getting a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro installed. To save time on Saturday, after Windows and drivers were done installing, I plugged the external hard drive back into the PC and set the files to copy back to it over night so in the next morning, everything should be ready for me to just put the files back in their original directories and install the needed programs. But was it ready this morning as I expected, though?

    No, it wasn't.

When I woke up, I checked the client's computer, hoping to see the transfer had completed but instead I found a halted transfer. The reason? A file it was attempting to copy could not be found at the origin. It was the email backup so I went inside the folder where it was saved in the external drive and in fact, it wasn't there. It was nowhere to be found. It simply vanished. I commanded the program to skip that file and carry on with the rest of the transfers (it had stopped before half of the whole transfer was completed) while I looked for the missing emails file (big file, too, mind you) and almost immediately the transfer halted again, this time with I/O errors, complaining that the device (the external hard drive) had either been ejected or could not be read. It repeated this same error for SEVERAL files and upon inspecting the total size of the whole backup, it was no longer matching the over 500 GB of data I had verified on the night before. I plugged the drive into my main computer and guess what? Same problem. Could not copy the files because the hard drive was failing at being read. Then I heard it... scrapping noises coming from the drive.

In a nutshell, my external drive which currently holds VERY important data from our biggest client, which doesn't exist anywhere else (don't you forget that this is the backup), is dying and failing to grant access to those files so I can copy them out of there.

Right now I have it connected to my Linux machine to try and copy them and so far I haven't been presented with errors or halts. It's been copying one of the folders from this backup for the past SIX HOURS. It's making progress, but absurdly slowly and I have no idea if the files are undamaged or if the transfer will even complete, eventually. Oh, and the emails are still all gone.

This Sunday has been terrible, but Monday promises to be an even bigger pain in the tail. -__- Should anything on this backup be lost forever, this will be the very first time in all of my years of experience as a computer technician that I lose someone's files. And it's not even due to my negligence. It's due to hardware failure, so not even my fault. But clients don't care about whose fault it is, mine or the hardware. If files are lost, I am the one who will be blamed by the client.

Oh, and there's even more to this terrible tale, even though not entirely related. However that is something to be told in a different post, at a different time. This has been enough text, already. Thank you for reading it.
