Traffic Management

Recommended Posts

Hello, just wanted to suggest something that would improve the game.

A few days ago there was a player blocking the dual lane road out of Calais which sat there for at least 20 minutes and at least 50 people reported them but there was no admin around to ban/kick/teleport them to unblock. I would suggest to have a traffic management team (who cannot ban/kick/teleport players) who drive specialised trucks with large screens and flashing arrows (example below)spacer.pngto help direct traffic if there is an accident whilst waiting for an admin to take action.

Thanks for reading my suggestions and I hope these could be put into the game.
Regards.

Hello,

interesting suggestion. As you said, you want a function that brings a game moderator to you as soon as possible when someone breaks the rules. I see it a bit in a different way, as I also consider the possible consequences of this. It could happen that it gets abused and used for every little situation. I think that many game moderators already look at the busy routes, like Duisburg - Calais, but I can understand that it is annoying when someone is blocking there for a long time.

But I don't understand what the traffic management team means. What exactly is this position supposed for? I don't think that would work properly.

Kind regards,

From what I see, the traffic management team is just players who can help if there is a large traffic problem by warning and directing players or closing lanes in case of a player blocking but they don’t have admin powers that could be used in the wrong way. It also reduces the priority for a admin to get there ASAP

But I don't know what the purpose of this "Traffic Management Team" is and for what they should regulate the traffic at all or how this should work exactly. If a player blocks the entire road, then the "traffic management team" can't do very much to help and to clear the road, or have I misunderstood something?

I see what you mean. I haven’t explained it very well

In theory they could close the road?

Trying to act as a traffic controller is currently against the rules. Giving players the chance to moderate traffic without proper training and permissions would be good for nothing and probably would make things even worse.

There's always the chat, /disconnect, drive past any blockade you may find, Esc - Exit - Launchpad and join the server again.

People stay in traffic jams only because they want or because they have never bothered finding out how to bypass them safely and without breaking any rules. That's also what a majority of the players going to those areas are looking for, the traffic jams, the interaction with lots of other players.

I think it makes more sense to install security cameras in crowded areas. Dear admins, they can view and interfere with many cameras from a single screen. 😎

Now that is a good idea

Hello,

Why there should do that? Where is the problem? I can easily answer to you, thats in players. If the players would not break the rules, and make a game unplayeble for others, it will be all good.. So, it does not solve anything.

Some players should firstly learn how to drive and then play Multiplayer. I do not know, why this game makes many players just troll.

I think that TruckersMP has done a lot of changes for us... So some players should start thinking sometimes.

While this is a good idea in theory, I don't think it would be feasible due to the number of players that would be loaded in. Additionally, there are times when there is too much chaos for me even to notice everything in 1 area, particularly the Calais F7. I feel like this would be too chaotic and lead to more things being missed.

While this is very funny is not really efficient to sit before security camaras for whole day while there is countless of reports to do in-game, simply not enough manpower for that.

Hello truckers.

The idea is not even unreasonable but... It has a great but it would be something very difficult to achieve for several reasons.

-make a new team in TMP!!! To manage traffic. 🤔

-how were they going to command that and know where it was happening 🤔

The idea is good but very difficult to put into practice.

Hello @Alpha_Trucking,

how is such a traffic management vehicle supposed to reach or go anywhere close to the scene of the incident if the road is blocked by a traffic jam? 🤔

The idea is they get there before the traffic builds up

Good idea.

But how exactly does one know when and where there will be traffic congestion? To my knowledge, TruckersMP doesn't have traffic reports or police radio that could be intercepted.

Or do you have a crystal ball that foretells the future? 😉 Just curious...

I think it's a good idea, as long as the traffic management is done by a Game Moderator who has some training and can kick people who don't respect the traffic management.

Otherwise I can see several scenarios where traffic management would be very helpful:

  • traffic jams at traffic lights: one road with not too many people but a long queue on the other road. Traffic management could bypass the traffic lights and let the long queue flow for longer to reduce it
  • traffic jams where you have a single lane and people need to give way (i.e. Kirkenes Quarry Road). Regularly people are not very friendly and don't stop to let the others pass and you end up with road blocks and big jams. Traffic management would help here.
  • traffic jams during events where many people try to access the same destination at the same time and it creates multiple jams everywhere.
  • can be useful also to have someone announcing a coming jam 1km before it to warn people so that they don't crash into it (while racing 😆)

GM can quite easily detect these problems using the TMP Map.

I don't agree to your suggestion.

If you stayed for 20 minutes in a virtual traffic jam, you seemed to have enjoyed it.

I suggest logging in to another server or single player next time to continue your journey.
