Get Out And Look (GOAL)
What's GOAL?
GOAL is the abbreviation for "Get Out And Look".
It's literally getting out of your cab and check the are around your truck and trailer for possible obstacles that may lay between you and the final backing location.
It's is done to prevent personal or property damage.
How can you GOAL in ATS/ ETS2?
You can GOAL in the simulator by using the outside camera view("2" key) and rotate the camera around your rig.
Only if everything is clear, get back into your cab and start to back up slowly.
Whenever you're in doubt, Get Out And Look again.

To greet your friends
I know - it's tempting to greet your friends with your 20 "super-blast 3000" horns, but it can be confusing for other road users. Use the radio or chat instead to send some love.

To express your anger about other road user's (mis)behavior
We've all been there: another road user cuts you off, tailgaits you, drives slower than the speed limit, etc. Enough reason to stoutly use the horn to vent your anger...no?
Don't take it personal. We are only humans and we all make mistakes, including being unaware of the traffic situation, the traffic rules or other road users.
Just take some deep breaths and move on. And If you can't, scream at your screen and give him/ her the finger. But turn off your mic and camera first.

Trying to set a new world record by honking Beethovens Symphony No. 9 with your buddies from the VTC? Go ahead, but first please find a spot off the road and away from traffic.
In general, you should use your horn only to give a warning if you see yourself or others in danger.

Speeding
Speeding is one of the most common reasons for accidents and should be avoided.
It takes you longer to come to a complete stop which can result in a serious accident.

Distracted driving
Texting or talking on the phone, eating and drinking, adjusting the radio or navigation system are activities which distract you from what's happening around you. Keep your eyes and mind on the road and make a stop at a safe location, if you need to attend to such activities.

Failure to use the turn signal
Failing to signal increases the risk of causing and accident, because other road users don't see in which direction you intend to turn to. Always use your turn signal before turning.

that's the racing event of the past. Nowadays it's all about slow-motion driving around yellow rubberducks.

I dont't know about you, but to me, the large number of emergency vehicles shown in the first picture suggests that the event will be more a disaster sightseeing tour.

True. This is an event in American Truck Simulator, but the first picture shows a truck from Euro Truck Simulator 2.
