@FozzyGuy im not that sort of person :) i just want a old suv that will get me from A to B and has a nice ride height you know for safety and it looks like the montero is sliding of my wish list cuz i cant find a insurance company that will insure it :( looks like its gonna be a VW

I think you got me confused with @Windows95.exe

However I do agree with him, of all things a crappy £100 seat arosa costs over £2.3k which is pretty rediculous.

Also VWs are good cars, I'm hung between choosing a cheap vw fox or a slightly more expensive golf plus.

What I'm saying is; there's a reason why all those shitty little hatchbacks like the Daewoo Matiz and all the other granny-cars exist - other than being granny-cars. If insurance was out of the way, or at least less of an obstacle as it is, everyone would be driving around in their ideal cars, and not many people actually regard hatchbacks and cheaply-insured cars as their ideal cars. So new drivers would be let loose with fine, delicate pieces of thorough German automotive artistry, inevitably rapping them around lampposts and slamming their R8's into pensioners because they still slip their foot of the clutch occasionally, or they just can't handle the power.

I'm not saying that you, personally. I don't mean you're particularly inexperienced or the type to selfishly litter the roads in SUV's despite not actually needing all that extra space in the car, I just mean that that's what it's like in general.

I absolutely hated shopping for my first car when I first tried to, because it was such a reality check. It's not about wish lists when you're shopping practically. I also like old cars from the 80's and 90's and started going for classic Fords and VWs, but one by one I realised they were just too much on the insurance.

My brothers in his 30's and he has a family. Goes traveling up and down the country as a painter and decorator with his firm, and when he gets home his car is a Fiat Punto of all things. He says its a shit car but it's cheap on the insurance and gets you from A to B. Not saying this because I doubt you'll ever get the car of your dreams, or even an SUV, but there's a reason why most people get shitty little sheds for first cars. Not because they're going through the typical transition that everyone else goes through, but because they don't really have much of an option.
