Game freezing for multiple seconds, then returning to a high FPS

Rootyyy

Question

Let me make this clear to start - this is NOT an issue with autosaving. When the game autosaves, the small symbol appears in the corner, which doesn't happen when it freezes.

My game usually runs at 40-60fps, including along C-D, and on quiet roads however I've had recently had some issues with my game momentarily freezing, for a few seconds and even up to 10/20 seconds. This happens on quiet roads, as well as busier areas. My FPS then returns to 40-60fps and continues as normal. I have ordered an extra 8GB RAM (to add to my current 8GB - as the usage has been around 90% of truckersMP) and my CPU usage is only at 45-60% in MP. My current PC specs are: Intel Core i5-4670K, Radeon HD7790, 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Red DDR3 1600MHz (an extra 8 to be added) and a WD Caviar Blue 500GB HDD. Is there any solution to this?

Thanks, Happy Trucking!

Hello,

  • First of all to begin with, try decreasing the graphics if you haven't done that already.
  • Try running the game with DirectX or OpenGL, see which one would work better for you.
  • Your graphics card isn't by far one of the best nor the worst, thus graphics might be an issue here.
  • Check if you have any background applications draining your RAM Memory.
  • Make sure you have the most recent graphic drivers.
  • Check your graphics' card panel if it's using the HD7790 and not the integrated graphics.

Please reply if your issue has been solved.

Regards,

Martin.

Dear @Rootyyy

Please take a look at this Guide

I don't think this is an FPS issue... After freezing, it then returns back to 40-60fps, which can't be an fps issue?

The graphics maybe an issue, however if only momentarily freezes and then returns to a higher fps, how does this explain it?

Hello :)

You should restart your internet or modern. You can also check your internet here: http://www.speedtest.net/fr

You can find the necessary information by reviewing the guide below.

  • Upgrade your connection speed through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Often ISP's will offer several different connection speeds for different prices. A higher connection speed will allow you to send and receive data faster and lower your ping. You can also switch to a different ISP that offers higher speeds.
  • Use a free online bandwidth testing tool such as BandwidthPlace to ensure you are receiving the speed promised by your ISP. If you are not receiving the advertised speed, let your ISP know and they will attempt to optimize your internet speed.
  • .Use a wired internet connection instead of a wireless connection or router. A fixed line connection allows for a more stable flow of data and will lead to lower ping and smoother game play. Additionally, a wired connection avoids the possibility of other computers simultaneously using the internet and using up bandwidth.
  • Disable any firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm, Norton, and McAfee. Although this step may expose your computer to temporary risks, many firewalls substantially slow down internet connection speed. Disabling firewalls that directly monitor web traffic will lower your ping.
  • Exit any applications that may be using up bandwidth. Heavy bandwidth users include applications or browsers that are downloading music, video or other files. Light bandwidth users include chat programs, open browsers and any other application that uses the internet in any way.
  • Choose a server that is geographically close to you. Using servers that are geographically close to you to lowers your ping because the amount of time it takes for a data packet to travel between yourself and the server will be reduced. Use filter options to sort servers by region or look up the IP address to find out where it is hosted.
  • Adjust in-game settings to make sure that there is no default bandwidth cap. This depends on each individual game. The best strategy is to use Google to search for the name of the game you are playing together with the term "bandwidth cap" and browse the results.

And you should read these topics. It will help you.
