videogamer
i'm gonna post a link that i just came across and i would like input from people who live in the UK to give their opinion http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/gadgets/news/a16439/man-arrested-for-charing-phone-on-uk/
Iceman Raikkonen
One again, the law has sucessfully become out of control. Next thing they will arrest you for is picking up coins in the street. Mind you, there must have been some heated words exhanged for him to be arrested.
HeyI'mAmethyst
I posted that in the police thread. Yeah. The UK is drunk. Come back later.
Amazing Red Panda
Wow what a stupid rules ? o.o In my country you can charge your phone everywhere you found a plug without anyone using it as free ...
NoTime4name
If they arrest you for charging a phone, then why did they put power sockets in the trains in the first place?
Euro_Trucker
On most trains in the UK you can charge your phone, laptop ect as they provide power points at the tables, however the trains which form the London overground do not allow any charging as they are for cleaners and maintenance staff at the depot they do have signs which clearly state they are not for public use
SWAT5773
In Belgium about a few months ago , special forces killed terrorists in the city of Verviers near Liege in the East of the country. Today I heard on the radio their families want to charge the Belgian government for killing/manslaughter.

TheMcSame
It's a click bait article, he wasn't arrested for using the plug. A PCSO (who has virtually no power) told him not to use the plug marked for cleaners only and said it was a crime (which I highly doubt), the man got a bit pissy about it and likely got arrested for breach of the peace, he wasn't arrested for using the plug. If something says "only for" and you use it for something else and the law states doing so is "illegal" then yes it is in fact a crime. imo its a phone being charged and should of been a slap on the hand and a warning on their record (much like going 5 over the limit) Also think of it like this: you use someone else power w/o permission it is like using their services/goods and not paying for it. Same thing goes with wifi bumming it is theft even if offered for free to the public (so dont go to a starbucks and sit down w/o paying for anything) Signature removed by a wondering ghost
2541
Is it the same if you want to go to the toilet at Starbucks and not pay for anything?
Darth Wazawai
^technically yes... Tho in said cases they prob say dont come back or get charged with trespassing... Thats why in heavy populated areas they have signs saying "washrooms for paying customers only", tho if you ask nicely (or if your mate says they will buy something if they let you in, ive done this) they should let you use it. HeyI'mAmethyst
I've always gone in a place like that and only use the toilets. They couldn't have given a bigger s**t...
Alex [ITA]
In Italy in most of the trains you can charge your phone/laptop without problems, but if you go in a cafe only to go to the bathroom without buying anything, the bartender might get upset. | Need help? | Allowed mods | TMP Rules | If you liked what I wrote, just click the "Upvote" button!
