  1. Kids these days. The internet was always available, orders never took longer than three days to arrive, and patience is some unknown desease that only affects the elderes.
  2. One could invite the community to join an event on a particular road to gain awareness of it and attract more players.
  3. The emergency braking system engages in situations that a driver might not be aware of. It therefore increases safety in road traffic, which I fully support. TIme will tell if and how it will work in TruckersMP. It could be abused for distracted driving and had to be considered in a rule update.
  4. Hello friends, over the years, I've provided many safety tips in my status updates. To make them accessible to a wider audience, I publish them together in this topic. I do hope you approach them with the same curiosity as I did when I was researching them, and use them as a helpful guide during your travels. Use the direction indicators (turn signals) to inform other road users about a change of travel direction of your vehicle. Do not drink and drive. Overtaking is only allowed if you can ensure that no other road user is jeopardized during the entire overtaking process. Overtaking is not allowed if prohibited by traffic signs or in-game rules or if the traffic situation is not clear. Also do not overtake in crossroads, at pedestrian crossings or railway crossings. Always observe, signal, maneuvre. Your lighting equipment is to see and to be seen. Your head lights must be used from 7PM (19:00) to 7AM (07:00). Furthermore, you shall use your lighting equipment during dusk, darkness, or when viewing conditions require it (fog, rain, snow). Always maintain a safety distance. It will give you time and distance for evasion maneuvres or deceleration and will prevent you from causing an accident. On dry roads, the safety distance shall be at least half of your speed in meters (or miles). Example: If you are driving at 80 km/h, your safety distance shall be 80 / 2 = 40 meters. Also possible is a safety distance of 3 seconds. Example: If the preceding vehicle passes an fixed object (e.g. traffic sign, tree, etc.), slowly count to 3. If you passed the object before 3 you are follwing too close. A 3 second safety distance at 80 km/h will be approx. 66 meters. On wet roads however, the safety distance must be increased accordingly. An insult is an unlawful attack on another persons honor by degrading value judgements or unjustifiable facts. Depending on national laws, calling another person an "idiot" may be considered more than a trivial offense or minor breaches of etiquette. Do not allow yourself to be provoked by other users. Because in case of doubt it could be you that will be banned. So always remember the 3 R's: Record, Report, Relax. Do not be prejudiced against young drivers. There are bright and skilled minds among them of that we all can learn from. Speed is no socery. If you think that speeding is safe, you likely overestimate your skills. At high speeds the chances to cause or get involved in an accident are many times higher. This results from the less reaction time you have left in case of unforeseen events on the road. Besides of that, high speeds are also difficult to estimate by other road users. Road speed restrictions exist for a reason - to ensure safety for all road users. Do not forget that jeopardising other road users as a result of speeding can be interpreted as reckless driving and can result in a ban. The right of way A road user that has to give right of way must timely indicate that he will wait by decelerating his vehicle to a moderate speed. He may only drive on if he can overlook that he will not endanger or impeded the road user who has right of way. If he cannot overlook this because the road is unclear, he is allowed to carefully and slowly enter the crossroad until the overview is given. Anyone who drives a vehicle should only drive so fast that the vehicle is under constant control. The speed must in particular be adjusted to the road conditions, traffic conditions, visual conditions and weather conditions as well as to the personal abilities and characteristics of the vehicle and the load. Keep calm. Do not let others provoke you. Responding to an (traffic) incident with anger or hate is useless, because they do not have the power to change what has happened before nor make it undone. More likely, such reactions will make things worse for you, if you vent them in verbal or written chat as this can end in a ban. Instead, keep calm and analyse the situation. Identify if there is a benefit to react with anger. Also, try to find a way for you to relax the situation. A basic rule. The participation in road traffic requires a constant caution and mutual consideration. Every road user must behave in such a way that noone else is harmed, endangered, hindered or harassed. If you think you are a realistic ETS2 truck driver... ... you might be interested in the following "European driving time and rest periods" rules: Daily driving period shall not exceed 9 hours, with an exemption of twice a week when it can be extended to 10 hours. Total weekly driving time may not exceed 56 hours and the total fortnightly driving time may not exceed 90 hours. Daily rest period shall be at least 11 hours, with an exception of going down to 9 hours maximum three times a week. Daily rest can be split into 3 hours rest followed by 9 hour rest to make a total of 12 hours daily rest Weekly rest is 45 continuous hours, which can be reduced every second week to 24 hours. Compensation arrangements apply for reduced weekly rest period. Weekly rest is to be taken after six days of working, except for coach drivers engaged in a single occasional service of international transport of passengers who may postpone their weekly rest period after 12 days in order to facilitate coach holidays. Breaks of at least 45 minutes (separable into 15 minutes followed by 30 minutes) should be taken after 4 ½ hours at the latest. (Source: https://ec.europa.eu/transport/modes/road/social_provisions/driving_time_en) A rolling stone gathers no moss. To ensure safety on the road, one shall not stop, stand or park a vehicle - in an area that is prohibited by in-game rules, - on narrow or blind road sections, - in the area of sharp curves, - within intersections, - on railroad tracks or railway crossings, - on highway access lanes or highway exit lanes, - or in entrances. Are you a potential reckless driver? Reckless driving can be defined as the willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property. Driving at excessive speeds can be interpreted as reckless driving, as the driver decides (willful) to disregard to drive at a safe speed, which eventually puts others in danger. Now there seems to be some confusion about safe speed. A safe speed is the speed that a driver can take proper and safe actions in case of an unexpected event. It is not the speed that a driver feels comfortable to drive or thinks is safe to drive at.The latter is more likely a severe case of overestimating his/ her abilities. A safe speed that considers favorable road conditions is recommended on road traffic signs. However, they do not necessarily consider weather- or visibility conditions, and they certainly do not consider a drivers personal driving skills or a vehicles physics and cargo. A responsible driver takes all the above mentioned factors additionally into account and chooses his/ her speed accordingly. The speed limit is not always a safe speed. Did you know? Even under ideal conditions, a safe speed is usually lower than the allowed maximum speed limit. This is caused by other conditions that have to be considered, such as - vehicle control - road condition - traffic condition - weather condition - personal (driving) skills - vehicle and cargo properties. In other words, this means that a speed limit must not be taken as as safe speed in all conditions. How to do a classic 45 degrees backup of a tractor trailer. Swift Academy Backing Tutorial How to backup a tractor trailer Backing up your single trailer The top of the steering wheel controls the truck. The bottom of the steering wheel controls the trailer. Turning the steering wheel to the right will push the trailer to the left . Turning the steering wheel to the left , will push the trailer to the right . Are you a distracted driver? Did you catch yourself thinking about a smartphone after reading the headline? Well done! Whenever one takes the eyes of the road and/ or the hands off the steering wheel to engange in a non-driving activity, one is distracted. Examples of such distractions are operating a mobile device (smartphone or GPS), selecting music, eating or adjusting the mirrors. A distraction from road traffic reduces the time to react and can end in an accident. A traffic accident is a sudden event which is unintended by at least one of the parties involved and leads to not entirely insignificant material damage or bodily harm. Drive slowly to stay in control. The faster you drive, the least control you have over your rig. Slow down and keep you and others safe. 3 mistakes to avoid when driving in TruckersMP Speeding Speeding is one of the most common reasons for accidents and should be avoided. It takes you longer to come to a complete stop which can result in a serious accident. Distracted driving Texting or talking on the phone, eating and drinking, adjusting the radio or navigation system are activities which distract you from what's happening around you. Keep your eyes and mind on the road and make a stop at a safe location, if you need to attend to such activities. Failure to use the turn signal Failing to signal increases the risk of causing and accident, because other road users don't see in which direction you intend to turn to. Always use your turn signal before turning. 3 reasons not to honk To greet your friends I know - it's tempting to greet your friends with your 20 "super-blast 3000" horns, but it can be confusing for other road users. Use the radio or chat instead to send some love. To express your anger about other road user's (mis)behavior We've all been there: another road user cuts you off, tailgaits you, drives slower than the speed limit, etc. Enough reason to stoutly use the horn to vent your anger...no? Don't take it personal. We are only humans and we all make mistakes, including being unaware of the traffic situation, the traffic rules or other road users. Just take some deep breaths and move on. And If you can't, scream at your screen and give him/ her the finger. But turn off your mic and camera first. For the fun of it Trying to set a new world record by honking Beethovens Symphony No. 9 with your buddies from the VTC? Go ahead, but first please find a spot off the road and away from traffic. In general, you should use your horn only to give a warning if you see yourself or others in danger. Get Out And Look (GOAL) What's GOAL? GOAL is the abbreviation for "Get Out And Look". It's literally getting out of your cab and check the are around your truck and trailer for possible obstacles that may lay between you and the final backing location. It's is done to prevent personal or property damage. How can you GOAL in ATS/ ETS2? You can GOAL in the simulator by using the outside camera view("2" key) and rotate the camera around your rig. Only if everything is clear, get back into your cab and start to back up slowly. Whenever you're in doubt, Get Out And Look again. Stay in your lane Big rigs have big blind spots, which makes lane changes even more challenging. It's therefore more safe to reduce lane changes to a minimum. If you need to change lanes, use your mirrors and turn signal well in advance to make other drivers aware of your intentions. Did you know? A fully-loaded 80,000 pounds rig traveling at 65mph can nearly take up to 600 ft to come to a complete stop under ideal road and weather conditions. In comparison, a car of 4,000 pounds takes only approx. 300 ft to stop. Always drive your rig with caution and keep enough safety distance to traffic ahead. Your turn! Many players don't know that the wheels of their trailer don't follow exactly the wheels of their truck. This often results in improper right-turns, where the wheels of the trailer run over the curb or sidewalk, or collides with traffic lights, road signs, fences or guardrails, which can lead to your whole rig getting stuck. How to avoid it It's not difficult to avoid off-tracking if you know how. The secret is to first steer your truck slightly to the left and then wide enough around the corner, leading to a bigger distance between the trailer wheels and possible obstacles. Be aware however that you don't collide with oncoming traffic! Always move slow, make small adjustments and watch your surroundings carefully.
  5. "§2 - Game only rules Rules marked with an asterisk (*) do not apply on Arcade servers and inside of No Collision Zones. Traffic laws and road signage must be obeyed. This means European road laws and signage must be followed in ETS2 and American road laws and signage must be followed in ATS. Failure to adhere to the respective road laws, and signage, and local lane closures represented by smart signs (see §2.7) may result in a punishment. Traffic lights and stop signs can be ignored if no other users are in the immediate area. Speeding, while allowed, is not recommended. Speeding can lead to accidents and can factor in a punishment decision. Baiting other players into accidents will not be tolerated and is punishable. Areas with 25+ players are considered highly populated." (Source: https://truckersmp.com/rules)
  6. I joined the forum 2437 days ago and have made 2480 posts until today. 😎

  7. I didn't say that I would like to change the speed limit. My question is if you could imagine it being removed in the future. My ideas, preferences, and wishes are not within the scope of this topic and should be discussed elsewhere.
  8. The /fix-command wasn't introduced to save you repair costs but to enable players to get their damaged vehicle out of the way in a timely manner. If the /fix command was meant to play any role in adding realism to the simulator, respectively, multiplayer, it would take a significantly longer time to repair a truck to consider the approach, repair of your truck, and departure of a repair service. A damaged truck can't necessarily pull a trailer. But a truck can pull a damaged trailer. Therefore, it's not necessary to extend the /fix-command to trailer damage.
  9. Thanks for your interest in the topic and your question, which I will explain as follows: "A server without speed limit" means there are no server-side restrictions on velocity. Players could drive as fast as they want.
  10. Dear friends, with Back-to-basics in effect and Road To Simulaton out of the way, what do you think: will TruckersMP see a server without a speed limit, probably in the not so far future? How likely or unlikely do you think the possibility is, and why? Let's talk about it.
  11. "As part of our Revisiting Germany project, our team has recently reworked the cities of Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Nurnberg and Erfurt completely from the ground up. This includes landmarks, road networks, industries and so much more! " (Source: https://blog.scssoft.com/2023/04/euro-truck-simulator-2-147-update.html)
  12. Suggestion Name: Event to celebrate the National Truckers Appreciation Day Suggestion Description: Create an event to to celebrate the National Truckers Appreciation Day on October 4, 2023. "National Truckers Appreciation Day, celebrated on October 4, honors a very deserving group of people and their dedication to taking on one of the most challenging and essential jobs in the country while keeping the economy moving. We tip our hats, or rather our trucker caps, to them and salute an often unnoticed and underappreciated profession that boasts some of the bravest, kindest men and women in the United States." (Source: https://nationaltoday.com/national-truckers-appreciation-day/) Any example images: N/A Why should it be added?: Since ETS2 and ATS are based on real-life models, it is only natural to pay tribute to those who serve as role models and made TruckersMP possible in the first place.
  13. I didn't encounter bugs too often, and if I did, I used the windshield washer system to wash them away.
  14. The 150 km/h speed limit increases the difference in speed to players who prefer to drive realistically (e.g., follow national road traffic rules and speed limits), which increases the risk of incidents. As an advocate of realistic simulation and road safety, I am therefore not in favor of the increased speed limit. Of course, I am free to drive my truck on another server. But even there, an unrealistic server speed limit of 110 km/h is enforced. I know that simulation is what one makes of it, but if other players pass you in their trucks at excessive speeds, it takes away a great portion of the realism I strive for.
  15. It would help to understand the chances of finding a solution if you could share the dimensions of your picture.
  16. Your answer suggests that you didn't understand my idea. I'm talking about bypassing the rather inflexible way of recruiting and putting out a public call for support. If I wanted to refer to the usual application process, I would have mentioned that explicitly. I'd understand if the TruckersMP team isn't interested in such a suggestion. It's their mod, their rules, and they can do as they please.
  17. Maybe they should ask their community for support in modeling vehicle-specific interiors. I'd imagine there are quite a few talented 3D modelers or designers who are willing to help out.
  18. Thank you, @Be4rdy, for sharing your art with us. Your artworks are extraordinary and captivate with realism and ingenuity. Keep up the good work!
  19. Please contact the TruckersMP team regarding this issue.
  20. Game-only rule §2 states: "Traffic lights and stop signs can be ignored if no other users are in the immediate area." As many players only seem to read or understand the first part of that sentence, your suggestion of adding road traffic lights will be useful in a similar way as shoveling is while it's still snowing.
  21. It's possible that some players will stop in that area to order waffles. On a serious note, what @FernandoCR [ESP] and @Flaming. posted hits exactly the nail on the head. The game rules require all players to follow national road traffic rules, which prohibit entering the intersection or junction despite a right-of-way or green light sign if the traffic is congested. Consequently, I don't see the need for additional road markings. Just read, understand and follow national road traffic rules. You can find them online in the world wide web.
