  1. I assume Haulie Island is the server on which the recent tournament took place. While there might be more suitable games to let off steam, I'd agree to keep Haulie Island as a permanent server if it isn't moderated by the TruckersMP team.
  2. Server-sided profiles which start at zero and can´t be tweaked (no editing of money, experience, etc.) would be an interesting feature. It would have a positive impact on reckless driving, because one would need to earn money with jobs to repair damages of vehicles and trailers.
  3. Perhaps we'll all get a surprise after the TruckersMP team has evaluated the polls and drawn conclusions from the results...
  4. By the power vested in me by God and man, I pronounce the beginning of the weekend.
  5. Congratulations, @TruckersMP, on another milestone reached.
  6. Could you edit your post using the following template to make your suggestion easier to understand? https://forum.truckersmp.com/index.php?/announcement/234-read-before-posting-a-suggestion/
  7. Yes, imagine players breaking the rules! ... Wait a minute... we've already had them for years. Just never mind.
  8. I agree. TruckersMP continues to promote racing to satisfy its community. In the past, I have suggested testing drivers' skills and control of their vehicles in competitions, but to no avail. Let the games begin!
  9. It's not the Skoda but the reckless driving player who you should direct your dissatisfaction to, if at all.
  10. The Skoda is that powerful because its physics are based on a truck. I agree that these physics require adjustments to make it more similar to its real world counterpart.
  11. The traffic congestions at the railroad crossing and other locations are primarily a result of the high volume of road traffic. A reduction of the number of trains therefore won't have a significant positive impact on the traffic situation.
  12. The authority to take measures with the purpose of enforcing the game rules should solely be given to properly trained staff of TruckersMP. Additional special vehicles aren't effective means to fulfill these tasks and therefore are unnecessary.

  14. A personal note.

    I've had enough.

I won't participate in endless debates and discussions about the best speed limit configurations anymore.

Because frankly I don't care anymore.

There are more important issues to be addressed.

Namely, the wastelands that lurk around the few infamous hotspots.

TruckersMP may attract some hundreds more players if it increases or drops entirely the speed limits on their servers.

But that doesn't necessarily mean a better or more even distribution of players on the entire map.

How is TruckersMP going to solve this flaw?

    Let's talk about it. Now.

  16. Everything was better in the old days, right? Each player is free to decide on which server he wants to play, regardless of which style of play he prefers. If you prefer to drive faster than 90 km/h, I suggest to not choose World of Truck jobs. If you prefer to drive faster than 110 km/h, I suggest to play on the arcade server.
  17. Does this make it possible to delete one´s account to avoid being reported?
  18. I've finished the survey. It's nothing that hasn't been discussed here in the forums already several times before. Hopefully, this time our voices will be heard and considered.

  20. Quo vadis, TruckersMP?

The recent TruckersMP announcement of a series of three short surveys (Game moderation, Server configuration, The forum as a community platform) started a discussion about the purpose and possible consequences of their results.

While the claimed purpose is to "gather more insights from the wider community to refine our approach", the following statement in particular has raised concerns in the rows of simulation fans:

"Furthermore, we have received much feedback about our server configuration, particularly with regards to the server speed limits we enforce on the Simulation servers. In short, a lot of the feedback we have received has challenged the 'Road to Simulation' initiative we launched in 2019 (see blogs below)."

Meanwhile, the TruckersMP team tries to appease, stating that many of the arguments put forward were pure speculation.

It was TruckersMP who introduced Road To Simulation in 2019 to "enhance trucking simulation as we know it", based on "simulation has sadly moved to the side and trolls take up a percentage of that player base".

Not even two years and two more Road To Simulation tweak posts later, the TruckersMP team rowed back in May 2022 and made an alarming rules update, in which they dropped all permanent bans due to history and with that, open their doors wide for the return of former perpetrators.

Against this background, the still pending survey about server configuration naturally puts oil into an already blazing flame of concerns about which part of the community will get their will this time.

      Assumptions, right? Speculation, right?

Would you like to keep 110 in C-D area and have higher speeds everywhere else in Simulation servers? Exactly one of the points I assumed and mentioned.

Of course, we can only wait for the results of the surveys and the management decision, but like I said, I fear that soon I will be saying my definite "good bye and good riddance, TruckersMP".

And it came as we predicted.

  21. No doubt, racing has a competitive character and often depends on a time to distance ratio. It's purpose can be to outgain and/ or outdistance something/ somebody, and can be accompanied by blocking others and/ or sudden and aggressive lane changes. Racing doesn't need a physical opponent, which makes it difficult to distinguish from speeding. Thanksfully, game rules §2.5 defines both as Reckless Driving: IImpatience can lead to reckless driving bahaviors, including inappropriate overtaking maneuvers in congested areas, which might be an answer to why players sometimes ignore the actual traffic situation and endanger others and themselves. My simple advise is to stay alert, be aware of the traffic situation and act in a way that doesn't harm or endanger others.
  22. Racing is not speeding and vice versa. One might define and distinguish both only by certain criteria and evidence, but even then it might not be clear. In general, a street race is always an act of reckless driving, while speeding is only defined as reckless if evidence supports a wanting disregard of others and the traffic road laws. For example, one might not be aware of a reduced speed limit and continous to travel at the previous higher speed limit, which would be not intentional. The difficult part for a game moderator is to determine (with help of valid evidence) which kind of offense actually has happened.
  23. I'd kindly remind you that it was the TruckersMP team who categorized its community in a black-and-white manner in the first place, by providing a simulation server and an arcade server to choose from: "We have decided that we want to put a greater emphasis on the simulation side of things and really bring the game and mod back to the roots of creating a simulation or arcade environment for all of our players to choose from." (Source: Road To Simulation) Naturally, there were and are more facets than only simulation and arcade, but these had to be subordinated. Nevertheless, I agree to your statement that no multiplayer game will ever fully satisfy the needs of every single player, and TruckersMP won't be an exception.
  24. Thanks for providing these hope inspiring numbers! Like @Foobrother, I'd like to understand on which sources your data evaluation is based on. I could imagine that a majority of players based on the participation in feedbacks and surveys isn't necessarily a majority of the TruckersMP community.
  25. Not even four years after the introduction of Road To Simulation, it seems that the TruckersMP team will eventually give in to the demands of its community's majority. It is right to question past decisions on a regualr basis to avoid being stuck in patterns which might be not contemporary any more. This however can also mean the end of simulation as we know it and it might cause collateral damage to the rows of our friends of simulation. We must remain optimistic, trust that the TruckersMP team will decide in the best interest of their community and make adjustments where they see fit.
