      Golf 1-4 are good the newer not.

      It all comes down to personal preference.

      I like the style and comfort of modern cars, not so much the performance. Golf R was my most comfortable and easiest car to drive but a heavy modified mk2 was the most fun to drive, that lil thing just flies about.

      I like the Mk7 GTI as a day-to-day car, something to drive to work in and a Mk2 as a project.

      I love Mk2's but the long distance driving I do I simply wouldn't like to do it in one of those, Mk7's on the other hand have better driver focused technology, comfort, etc.. just more suitable. Under the hood it may be the same as an audi but I'd much rather drive a golf
