EngineeroftheHumanity
I am studying mechanical engineering in Turkey and I'm very interested in simulation games. I decided to do my own steering because the steering was expensive and I started to investigate.I decided to do the steering with Arduino and I found a video on YouTube, and Other videos are available on his youtube channels. He has helped me a lot.I finished the software part because the simplest part was the software but I have not been very interested in exterior architecture because it is very difficult to do. I plan to do it first with AutoCAD, and then I to do it. I will try to do the project on next summer. You can do it in a cheap way. If I do this project on summer, I will share the photos here. Spieker
Awesome! Wouldn't it be possible to make it like 1800°? (I think that's how much a truck steering wheel IRL turns, correct me if I'm wrong) Good luck and have fun with this project
Aestrial
This is awesome! Great to see people getting hands on with these sorts of things, very exciting. Best of luck with your project sir! EngineeroftheHumanity
truck sterring wheel IRL is 900° also you can give as many degrees of rotation as you like.Related to software @Spieker Thank you. I would like such projects to be thrown under this topic.Working on it is fun but a bit hard. @Attach Thank you.
Aestrial
@EngineerMsty I'd love to learn to do something like this. Maybe I should watch some videos too. EngineeroftheHumanity
You can start with Arduino. What is Arduino? There are many sources available about this you can find if you search. @Attach.
Spieker
I asked a just asked a trucker IRL I'm actually pretty sure that Trucks IRL have 1800° steering - 900° to the left and 900° to the right.
EngineeroftheHumanity
Yes, its possible you can make 1800°. That's what I know truck IRL have 900° steering 450° to left and 450° to right .
Hpro1
Nice Does the wheel also have force feedback or?
EnLight
It is impressive to see people creating this themselves, rather than buying an expensive branded wheel + pedal set and not only will you save money, it looks as if it is working perfectly. Is there force feedback integrated in to the wheel / do you plan to add it if it is not? Either way, this is very impressive! Good luck with your project in the future. EngineeroftheHumanity
You can, but you have to find the Arduino codification. I have in my mind, but there is no idea how it is done. @H_pro1 After the steering, I think I will add.I need to find the software codes. I do not code myself, I download it from the library. @EnLight
Hpro1
Nice @EngineerMsty! If you'll get the FFB to work, tell us how does it feel
EngineeroftheHumanity
I will search FFB on summer. It will be difficult . @H_pro1

Guest
Arduino is great. I worked with it and by far, the best one to use when you're at the beggining of programming.
MushroomLTU
There's a similar app for Android called 900steeringwheel. Works well, needs program for PC, but it doesn't cost and is free. You can steer using phone, can change how many degrees you can turn to left and right, has many buttons on screen plus sliders (for acceleration, viewing) and also has H-shifter, but I couldn't make it work on ETS2. Overall, program works well with ETS2. You need router for it and both PC and phone must be connected to same Wi-Fi. You can make little steering wheel out of cardboard if you're creative enough and you can make perfect steering wheel. Helped ya? Why not giving me a reputation point? Thanks! Earth is hexagon.
