  1. After looking at all errors and warnings, I didn't find any traces of ETS 2 and ShadowPlay.

Then I did one of the things that NVIDIA Customer Support asked me to do, which was to revert back to an older version of my NVIDIA Driver. After going through a lengthy process of uninstalling my display driver in safe mode, then installing the older version that I downloaded from NVIDIA website (388.71 for notebook), that seems to do the trick. Weird thing is I still see the red line for maybe one or two seconds... But I tested manual recording and instant replay, going back and forth a few times.

Now I hope it stays like that...

  2. After following some of the steps suggested by the customer support of NVIDIA, *deep sighs*, sadly it doesn't fix my issue of the red line of death.

Some of those includes making sure I have the latest version of GeForce Experience (duh!), that I have enough storage space (am I lacking space with 629 GB on my C and 1.53 TB on my F?), and creating a folder which isn't located in Users (I made one there: "C:/Video_temp"), and one tiny thing I almost missed was the "Allow desktop capture" in the HUD layout, which does not show up when having a gaming notebook...

Also, he mentioned to follow some steps which includes enabling Experimental Features, deleting two JSON share files in Program files x86, NVIDIA Corp, so on, open and close GeForce Experience, reinstall it, reopen it, restart laptop, then check if the issue is still there. Which it is! I mean as soon as I change the focus out of Euro Truck Simulator 2 for a couple of seconds (for example watching the video recorded just before changing focus), then when I come back... red line of death.

  3. @Smalley I'm actually aware that this issue is only related to ShadowPlay. I tried OBS recording software and it does work (but very choppy recording). Also I'd rather avoid anything that will upload or stream videos, as the upload speed is incredibly slow. Heck I'm slower than 77% of Canadians...

@walidsadki98 I think you've misread the requirements for ShadowPlay. Or else, why would it work perfectly fine in other games? With an usually smooth recording, even in ETS 2, which I've been doing for quite some time.

Here's what it states: GTX (for PC) 600 or better, or GTX (for notebook) 660M, [...], 700M or better. The GTX 960M is more recent and better than that, as far as I know.

Also on a side note, I've submitted a help form at NVIDIA customer support. The tech support asked me a few things like msinfo32 and NVIDIA system information, along with a screenshot of that red line.

  4. I submitted a ticket to NVIDIA help desk. For now, the only "solution" is to avoid doing "Alt + Tab" during game play on ETS 2, or else I'd have to reboot my laptop.

On another note, I haven't got any useful replies on the SCS Software forum. One person suggested to toggle privacy control, but I don't have that setting as I'm using a laptop. There is nothing else after "Notifications" in the list of settings.

  5. I'm really confused... So I don't know if you will follow me with what I'm about to tell you, but that is so weird.

So your TMP profile linked to your forum profile is this one: https://truckersmp.com/user/255247

The link aside it brings you to this Steam account: https://steamcommunity.com/id/AlexM1994

BUT, when looking in player lookup API, it brings me to this other Steam account: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198163995477

More interestingly, when taking the ID from the first Steam account, it brings me to this TMP account: https://truckersmp.com/user/1602939

So... Does that help you clear some things up?

  6. @flybel I've always set in my NVIDIA control panel to use high performance NVIDIA GPU, and even did it on global settings, and it didn't change anything about the recording after doing "alt tab" out of the game.

Here's the thing, I've had this laptop for quite a while, and despite having a few recording issues in the past that I could fix by rebooting my laptop or doing some updates, I've never ever had anything like this before. I really don't understand how it just suddenly happens, like nothing considerable even happened during the day it started messing up (as far as I know).

I've been recording since July 2016 (maybe a bit earlier) on ETS 2 with this laptop, and I'm confused about what could be the source of the issue, why would it fail to start recording again after changing the focus...

  7. In other words, you want two full sized trailers instead of one which can only be done via mods or save editing. Or more specifically turnpike doubles on ATS at least.

If we look at the rule, it only applies for ATS as there is no way to get more than one full trailer on ETS 2. At least with SCS files... On ATS, there's many more possibilities, and you can put as many jeeps/dollies as your PC can handle. Here's a few screenshots from single player (the presence of blur in the distance is a good indicator that it wasn't in multiplayer).

I'd say that I'm not against allowing turnpike doubles (if they are done properly of course), but some rules need to be changed and more clear.

  8. I've had a friend of mine know has some good knowledge about ShadowPlay that went on Teamviewer and tried some stuff (concerning locations, few changes in settings). And after the laptop reboot, it didn't fix it.

@flybel I decided to try OpenGL 64-bit... guess what? No red lines woohoo! But the FPS counter and the status icon disappears and wouldn't let me record anymore after doing "Alt Tab". So... It's basically the "same" result.

On a side note, I've been told that when I switch to another window (Alt Tab), that ETS 2 doesn't use my GPU (with Optimus on). I tested it and it seems to be true, no sign of GPU usage at all in the Task Manager. So... I think I already asked it, I wonder if changing my options in my BIOS to disable Optimus and just use my GTX 960M would temporarily fix this issue.

  9. @flybel I always thought that OpenGL and ShadowPlay doesn't work together. I'm not going to try 32-bit because that only works in single player as you probably already know. So that would be irrelevant for my situation.

Also, GeForce Experience released an update (3.12.0.84), and I still get that nice red line of death when I "Alt Tab" out of ETS 2 (after freshly starting my laptop). I also tested with American Truck Simulator, and it did the same thing, except I didn't even do "Alt Tab".

I've also been told that the fullscreen of those two games from SCS Software are not well made, that it "pauses" the game, hence it might be why it "stops" the recording and fails to "start" again.

  10. I uninstalled ETS 2, GeForce Experience, and my NVIDIA drivers (with DDU for the last one), restarted computer, and installed the driver from the website of NVIDIA (clean install), and downloaded the game again, and left the default settings on ShadowPlay (location, all notifications on, etc.)

As I mentioned before, doing "alt tab" in my farm game is just fine, I can be away for several minutes, then get back in the game and it would record just fine. But when I open ETS 2 with DirectX x64 (I already tried the first option, just x64), and that I stay in the profile selection menu, it works fine until I "alt tab" out of the game. Then things start to mess up again, like I tried to do manual recording (didn't work), instant replay (did work once surprisingly), "alt tab" out again and went back in, then when I tried instant replay, the icon just put the red line across it.

I also found where the CaptureCore.log file was, in case you want to take a look. The file itself is in ProgramData.

    https://pastebin.com/1LMfnPd2

  11. I've only tested Farming Simulator 17 and Euro Truck Simulator 2. I do believe it's a game specific related issue because it doesn't happen at all on the farm simulator. Tried multiple recordings (manual, instant), alt tab, watching back the footage, going back in game. But when I go in ETS 2, it's as soon as I alt tab out and go back in, the red bar appears...

I might try what Prototype said, to download from NVIDIA page instead of using GeForce Experience to download the driver version 390.65, which is the latest version... I'm not sure what could be different but if that doesn't work, just forget trying to reinstall drivers. I can't be doing that over and over again in hope of fixing the thing, that's just the pure and true definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over and expect things to change).

  12. Here's an update of the situation.

I tried to see if the problem persists in Farming Simulator 17, and it seemed to work just fine. So I went on in the big struggle of completely uninstalling NVIDIA GeForce Experience, then I ran DDU to remove my NVIDIA drivers. Oh lovely black screen after it rebooted (turns out it was just not rendering anything for some reason until I entered my PIN code). Clean install of GeForce Experience, then it downloaded the drivers and did a fresh install.

Guess what? The problem still persists when I alt tab out of ETS 2 and go back in. I even tried to change the location of the recording to my "C" drive instead of my "F" drive, and it put a red bar across the status right away after starting the game.

I can't deal with this for now. I'll get back to it much later on.

  13. I started having an issue with my recording software (ShadowPlay) since the 14th of January. At first, it didn't look like there was any issues, because the icon and notifications was displaying correctly. When I finished playing, I noticed that it didn't save any videos at all. The 15th, I realized the problem can be reproduced when I Alt+Tab out of ETS 2, regardless of if it's in single player or multiplayer. When I come back in the game, the ShadowPlay status icon is crossed with a red line. After that, I would basically need to restart the game each time (which would be a big pain in the...)

I've tried to uninstall NVIDIA GeForce Experience, restart the computer, and reinstall it. And I still have no luck with it. Recordings work fine, until I Alt+Tab out of the game again. I tried to look up for any solutions online, regarding ShadowPlay stops working, ShadowPlay stops when alt tabbing, and I just can't figure out how to fix it. All I remember that I've done was playing ETS 2 (recording worked just fine the 13th), editing and uploading a video. Last software I've installed was over a week ago. I've also had an OS update but that was before the problem occurred.

Could it be the OS itself? I have Windows 10 (family), with Fall Creators Update (that I've had for a while already). It can't be because of my settings, because I haven't changed those at all (except when I did a fresh install of GeForce Experience). I wonder if it's on NVIDIA's side, or on my laptop, I have no clue.

If you need more information like the specs, here it is:

    -Model: GL552VW

    -Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
-Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (2GB)
    -Video Card #2: Intel(R) HD Graphics 530
    -RAM: 16 GB
-Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (build 14393), 64-bit

  14. @nitrodax777 Ahh I see what you want to do.

Only chrome parts I can see are from the wheels and the accessories that goes on them.

For trailers, the chassis comes as a whole part, the wheels that go on it (which you can't put more or less than what the chassis is made for), the cargo (optional), and the paint job if the chassis supports it. There's a trailer in ETS 2 for example that has a chrome tank with painted back. Of course, when changing the paint, it only shows it where it's designated in the back.

Sadly we have to cope with the limits of the game.

  15. I really apologize for the late replies. I don't always check everyday in the guide sections to see if someone commented on my thread.

For unlocking all skills to max, I think you simply need to search (adr for example) and replace each corresponding lines to this:

     adr: 63
     long_dist: 6
     heavy: 6
     fragile: 6
     urgent: 6
     mechanical: 6

For the paint, you can only put a valid path of sii file associated with a dds picture. There's no magic files or numbers that will make your truck looks like chrome (as far as I know). I also believe that putting "valid" paths for paint that are not meant for the truck (like trailer paint on truck) would automatically get you kicked on any TMP servers.

I have to admit, it would be cool to have an option for matte, chrome or pearl paint jobs.

  16. The possibilities to explore are huge compared to what I show in this tutorial. But there's a few things to be careful with when applying it in multiplayer.

For example, I used to mess around with negative cargo mass of my trailer, and get the trailer with lift axle and put small wheels on regular axles. Then I'd put '1' on wear of the trailer wheels, drive in the rain with trailer axle up, the trailer lowers a little bit and... acts really weird on small road bumps.

At around 11 seconds in this old video, you can see examples of the results:

  17. @SylteSnadder That is done using the duplication technique. One grill has the big lights, and the second grill has the small lights.

At first, I'd put the grill with the big lights on in-game and save it. Then I do the normal process, decrypting, finding the truck, then the concerned grill accessory. If it's on top, it's a r_grill, but in front it's f_grill. Then you'll need a copy of that grill with the big lights. Here's what mind looks like (it has two horns on it though):

    vehicle_addon_accessory : myscania3.r_grill_1 {
     slot_name: 6
     slot_name[0]: slot_2
     slot_name[1]: slot_3
     slot_name[2]: slot_4
     slot_name[3]: slot_5
     slot_name[4]: slot_1
     slot_name[5]: slot_6
     slot_hookup: 6
     slot_hookup[0]: "light3.addon_hookup"
     slot_hookup[1]: "light3.addon_hookup"
     slot_hookup[2]: "light3.addon_hookup"
     slot_hookup[3]: "light3.addon_hookup"
     slot_hookup[4]: "horn1.addon_hookup"
     slot_hookup[5]: "horn1.addon_hookup"
     wear: 0
     data_path: "/def/vehicle/truck/scania.r_2016/accessory/r_grill/shape5_h.sii"
    }

Yours might be different, it's just to give you an idea what it looks like.

You can put the copy of that block at the end of all accessory blocks (you can scroll down until you see either vehicle or profit_log), that's what I recommend, less numbers to change in the array later. Then you need to change the address so it's different. You can either just put 1 instead of 0 at the end of it, or rename it for future reference like I did (following the address renaming guidelines). At this point, you need to change one of the two (doesn't matter which one) so instead of using big lights (light1, 2 or 3), it'll be using small lights (smalllight1, 2, 3, up to 6, you have the choice, you don't need to touch 7 to 10, which are side markers). But which one you want to use depends what you want. You may want to look in the truck browser (menu -> about -> truck browser), then get a bumper grill and look which number you want.

After you've done changing the lights, you need to declare that new block in the array of accessories. If you've put the copy of the block at the end, then you just need to go in your list/array of accessories, which should be above all the blocks. I usually do a search for the address of the last block (not the one you pasted) and it will bring you straight to it. I'd make a copy of the last one in the list and paste it underneath, before odometer, then change the address so it has the new one, and the number in the brackets. Numbers in the brackets must be in order, no same numbers, no skipping numbers. Then the first line of accessories with a number alone should be +1 from the last number in that list.

Then you can save the file, and load it in-game and cross your fingers that you haven't done something wrong.

  18. @weezy97 Your code should be right and give a blue color. I have absolutely no clue why it would not show in the picture. Did you save the file before loading?

@--Black_Sky--TIME OUT The V8 emblem in the rear is a combination of two emblems: the V8 is "mg_int_light02.sii", and the Scania griffin emblem is "mg_int_light01". It will be purple, but if you put 5 of each, it will be more bright and pink. You have to follow the steps on how to add a new accessory in your truck.

  19. @nitrodax777 You don't need to change the address. I mean you can always change it to a custom name you can easily remember, if you plan to refer to it more easily like I do on a lot of my truck parts.

The only thing you need to do to get the paint from the other truck is simply changing the data path of the current paint job you have. You may have to change the color to it, but you might need an ets2 color converter to convert from rgb to the ets2 version of it. And in the paint job, there's the base color, and the 3 masks. The 2 others (flake and flip) are exclusive to metallic paints which you won't touch in this case. I think the colors in order of how they usually show in game in the paint customization would be: base, b mask, g mask, r mask.

If with some luck, you just want to keep the colors, but swap them, that's a bit easier. You just need to figure out which of the 4 attributes you need to change.

Also, it has been mentioned that the textures of the paint job might look out of place. As explained already, it's due that the truck uses a different template. It'll take a texture located in a certain area of the dds (picture) file and render it on the truck. It varies for each individual trucks, so that's why it may look weird, or it may look decent.

It can be quite confusing for someone who's just starting. But once you experiment things, and manage to figure out how it works, it should be all good.

Actually ATS was not working BEFORE the game update came out Thanks. That is why ATS Servers have had ZERO players on them since the MP update came out last night/early this morning. So stop your preaching.

Sorry. Just one of my pet peeves - Forum Warriors not associated with the product that think they know it all.

I'm not going to let things heat up, I was simply trying to help. I didn't play ATS for MONTHS, just saying...

Also may I ask why did you assume I was a forum warrior who "knows it all"? I really hate people who assume things. And judging by the way you're talking, it really seems like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
