Pretty much wrecked my car by not driving it for over a year but on the bright side at least there's a nice clean patch on my driveway ((:

Oh no a ford KA, my ex had one of those it was like riding in a match box. I feel your pain though £1800 my first years insurance cost me on a 1.4L. for the same price I was able to get a 1.6L Turbo insured with one years no claims, now my no claims are racking up and my pay is getting much much better it's not so much of a problem now, £1100 is my current rate for the one I posted above but foreal insurance is such a scam.
It's such a faulty system, most people first-time driving are on minimum wage and have to pay the most insurance. I was on £5.50/hr with £1800 insurance, that's 327 hours work. How is that even legal? Now I'm on much higher pay with lower insurance so my year was a couple weeks pay so it's no issue, but I really feel for the people just passing. Well, my mates were lucky enough to have their parents pay it but I didn't get that kinda luck, I gotta work for everything I own so it was a serious pain.
Black boxes are trash as well, mine messed up my electronics on my first car and they refused to cover the repair, and it didn't even track properly (which was kinda good I guess) got 20k miles done in the year when my insurance was limited to 6k because the box only registered 400 miles the whole time even though I was doing more than that every month lmfao.

Yeah I'm on my first year driving and insurance is a nightmare. Easily my biggest outgoing. I managed to get enough money to pay part of my insurance (£700) and then my parents helped me to pay the rest (£900) but I'm still paying them back for that lmao. My blackbox screwed my electrics up too. It was draining too much power from the battery and the alternator couldn't keep up with it. Still waiting for the insurance company to come up with some sort of compensation or for them to repair it. But yeah, I agree with you it's a total scam.
