Hi,

This is an issue you should arise for Steam to look at.

Contact Steam support but look at the article provided regarding "Recovering a Stolen or Hijacked Steam Account" first, you must prove you have had ownership of the account in the past: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2347-qdfn-4366

I hope you manage to recover your friends account, best of luck.

Tell your friend to do as the others say, contact steam support about the account breach, please be aware that it can take up to a month for things like this so be ready to wait.

Additionally please make sure that your friend runs anti malware and anti spyware software on their computer, also tell your friend to look up keylogger removal software.

If your friend clicked on a malicious link then your friends computer could be infected to make sure to scan it with as many anti virus software's as possible to stop the account being stolen again.

Your friend can also lock down their account to protect hackers from trading all your inventory, (which has probobly already happenned by now) since these scripts are very sophisticated in automatically getting into the account and sending all your items and account information to their computers.

I hope that your friend manages to get their account back and if it was the case of clicking a link be sure to tell him to be more wary of what he clicks or downloads in the future as all it takes is one wrong click and everythings gone.

Not to mention that these hackers can take your steam account as well as self destoying your computer as well.
