MrHarv98
Are you thinking of doing SLI to your PC or no? And Have you got any specific theme for your PC parts or anything which performs good is good for you.
Seasons
GTX 980+ at least if you want good performance in games. of course everything else has to be decent lol hi
(Beer O'Clock) SHANE
@MrHarv #Haulage64 Im not sure do u think its necessary? isnt it meant to increase the processing power or something?
MrHarv98
Seeing that^ Which games do you play mostly? IF they are games with old hardware requirements you don't need 980 but if you play multi-threaded and high vram requirement' SLI means adding more than 1 graphic card, Nvidia doesn't reccomend it personally, I prefer to have power of 2 cards in 1 , So i won't recco SLI to you but if you plan to do SLI in near future i need to find a motherboard SLI capable
(Beer O'Clock) SHANE
^Yeah ok i usually play atsmp, ets2mp and spintires
MrHarv98
Seeing that you don't need SLI or a 980 which means i can focus on more CPU Power and adding more fans
Cyrusj
If that's all you plan to play, you don't need to spend near 2500. Check out my HTC Vive game play videos on YouTube. (Beer O'Clock) SHANE
@Cyrusj Ok what do you think i will have to spend all up then i only want around 50-60 fps
Cyrusj
After going through newegg i make a quick list to get you started. I7-6700k skylake CPU ASUS Z170 PRO gaming Motherboard 32GB DDR4 G.Skill Tridentz @ 3200mhz Samsung 850 pro 256gb for os W.D Black 1tb for storage. EVGA 750w G2 PSU Which comes to 1,386 AUD. Giving you 1200 more for a GTX 1070 ( when it comes back in stock at 600AUD i think) and plenty left over for operating system/case/monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers/ect of your choice. Edit: This is only if you actually want to spend your 2500 budget. I would recommend something much less expensive if all you wish to accomplish is 50-60fps in ATS and EST2. caff!!!
6700K doesn't come with a heatsink, so you'll need a cooler master 212 evo to keep it cool at low prices. As for cases, take a look at the ones on logicial increments Independent driver On 8/28/2018 at 2:16 PM, caff!!! said: to quote Revolver Ocelot: I love to reload shift gears during a battle delivery. Cyrusj
^^ Case (shell as you seem to call it) Operating system DVD Drive (optional) monitor keyboard mouse speakers? A lot of those you might have, which is why i didn't include them. Also don't forget that the Nvidia GTX 1070 is not in the list. Which is a main component. Cyrusj
^^ why the same (or more depending on the website) for an architecture that was released over two years ago opposed to a Skylake? 22 minutes ago, MrHarv #Haulage64 said: With my suggestion plus the peripherals you chose would cost around 1650 AUD plus a GTX 1070 at 600 AUD would put the total at 2250. So for only 150 AUD more he would not only get an I7, But he would get a skylake i7 with 32Gbs of DDR4. Not much of a decision in my book. Check out my HTC Vive game play videos on YouTube. MrHarv98
Because considering his PC usage and games and general browsing through the internet doesn't need Skylake architecture, Also it's a waste of money if you don't use all of it and by "it" means the processing power. Atleast i know if he has a 20 chrome tabs and games running and some other activities that processor will be used to the limit and has the capability of OC on stock cooler too. Whereas run the same situation on skylake and it'll be only about 30-40% cpu usage. So that means for me is only 30-40% of my money spent is being used by the activities i perform on the PC, Not a 100%. What's a processor which hasn't been used to the limit. Also he may use this for couple of years and by then even Skylake will be old so he can purchase the architecture of that time.
Cyrusj
his pc usage also doesn't need a I5 devils canyon: but if he is going to spend 2100, he might as well spend 2250 for things that aren't 2 years old. Edit: "So that means for me is only 30-40% of my money spent is being used by the activities i perform on the PC, Not a 100%." So you would rather spend 400 on a older cpu that needs to push 100% to perform the tasks you want than a cpu for 400 that only needs 30-40%. Check out my HTC Vive game play videos on YouTube. MrHarv98
100% is not required to perform the tasks but getting 100% from multi-tasking is my concern. AFAIK, i5 won't reach anywhere near 60 or 50% usage on having chrome, games, other stuff open. Skylake seems a bit to useless for doing general stuff m8. If somebody asks you to build them a PC for general use and light gaming considering they have no knowledge of PC parts or anything (not referring to anyone in this case, just an example) Would you rather give them a reliable cheap multi tasking capable cpu or top of line skylake used for high end gaming and stuff when they won't do either of that IMO Asus cards have better cooling system than standard nvidia ones, from my experience At the end of the day its upto Shane to decide not us Cyrusj , And Shane if you want better advice for a pc setup go the masters at https://linustechtips.com/main/
Takumi Fujiwara 86
or you can give them a cheap powerful cpu that has the power incase they do need to start doing cpu intensive work its all about futureproofing
Cyrusj
If i could come up with a build with the newest platform and architecture for a decent price, that is what i would recommend. But like i told him in the first place 2500 isn't needed for what he does. @Takumi Fujiwara has a pretty solid build there while still saving some money. My only objection is the GPU's as the new "generation" of GPUs are out or coming soon. Check out my HTC Vive game play videos on YouTube. Takumi Fujiwara 86
yeah i realize that but thats a solid build but should keep an eye on how the rx480 does if it does good then go with two of em (be even cheaper) if it doesnt then stick with the 390x's
