Try to do /pinfo <id (Beside his name)> to get his truckersmp id and steam id. Its way easier than /s <first 4 digit of his name>.

1st. Its the game issue, this is a base game problem, not multiplayer 2nd. Try mouse steering, you can adjust the sensifity and it will take time to get used to. 3rd. 10mph in sharp corner is normal for a truck, turning in 20mph or even 30mph is freeking danger ... Even sometime i do under 10 with a very long trailer -

Dissable driver fatigue first, and try to sleep somewhere after you driver from 1 city to another. If you still unable to sleep, drink some milk jks Try to teleport between garages, if you don't have any garage then drive somewhere far then teleport back or using emergency call will help too (F7+enter)
