Going the wrong way down a slip road or reversing down the motorway is incredibly dangerous for others - I had that experience on the A5 near Frankfurt in August 2017 when someone missed the exit and reversed while I was going straight on at 80km/h.
If you miss the exit that the GPS wants you to take - just continue to the next exit - the GPS will eventually give you a different route that you can take to get to your destination (even if it takes slightly longer).
