Do hired recruits work online?

Question

I just hired someone onto my company and he said he is 0 miles from completing his first job and it's said that for the past hour. I'm just wondering if this feature works online?

It works, only differently than in single player. This is caused by how the in-game time runs. In MP, it's slower than in SP, so a same job that in SP would take 1 hour, in MP can take several and you don't see progress. But time in MP never stops, so that hired driver will be doing jobs 24/7. From time to time, when you use ferries, teleport to another garage, etc. the game will "fast-forward" time and synchronize all the jobs that your hired driver has been doing... And you will see lots of money coming into your bank account suddenly.
