  1. Whether it is for a montage video or reporting someone who is violating the rules, it can be very useful to be able to record your gameplay in TruckersMP. GUIDE WITH IMAGES In this guide, we will cover: how to use the XBOX recording suite how to change the quality and framerate of the recording how to change the location of the recordings Other useful tips to maximise the usefulness of the tool Requirements: Windows 10 operating system A reasonably powerful system It is important to note that recording gameplay will use additional system resources and therefore on weaker systems may cause noticeable slowdowns in TruckersMP. Most modern systems should be fine, however. XBOX GAME BAR The XBOX game bar (as it is called) can be brought up at any time throughout the Windows 10 operating system (unless you are playing protected content) by pressing the WINDOWS key and the G key simultaneously. A prompt may appear asking whether you want to identify that application as a game, if it does, accept it. The UI should look similar to how it does in the image below. There are some performance metrics, which can be useful to see what the bottleneck in your system is, along with some other features however we are interested in the panel called capture. Using the capture box is one way to start and stop recordings in the XBOX suite. If you press the button with the white circle, a recording will begin, the XBOX game bar will close and a timer will appear in the top right hand area of your screen showing how long you have been recording for. You can then press the stop button when you want to stop recording. Starting recordings with a keyboard shortcut Using the XBOX game bar to start and stop recordings is fine, however it may be difficult and dangerous to attempt to use it whilst driving a truck. Luckily you can easily start and stop a recording using a keyboard shortcut. This may be useful if you spot someone who is breaking the rules and wish to report them, but are not already recording. By default, the keyboard shortcut to start and end recordings is: WINDOWS KEY + ALT + R This keyboard shortcut can be changed using the steps I will show you later and it is even possible to map it to a macro pad or similar device, perhaps a button on a steering wheel. N.B. ALL VIDEOS USED IN TRUCKERSMP REPORTS MUST BE AT LEAST 5 SECONDS LONG OTHERWISE THE REPORT WILL BE INVALID AND DECLINED CHANGING THE QUALITY AND FRAMERATE OF THE RECORDINGS By default, the xbox game bar will record your content at the following settings: At the full resolution of your monitor At 30 frames per second At a “standard” quality (I have found this to be roughly 6.5mbps) These settings are fine for most people and will be sufficient for reports, however if you intend to make a video montage or use the captures for videography purposes I recommend you change these settings to record in 60fps and at a “high quality”. To change these settings, you press the WINDOWS KEY on your keyboard and type “game bar settings” using your keyboard, before pressing enter. Then press the captures button, as shown below. Scroll down to the “recorded video” section and select your desired frame rate and quality from the menus. How to change the location of the recordings By default the recordings will save to the following folder This PC \ Videos \ Captures. This may be fine for some people however often the C:\ drive where the Videos folder is will be smaller and you may wish to store your recordings on another drive, for instance an external hard drive. Go into the Videos folder where the “Captures” folder will be located and right click on the “Captures” folder before selecting “cut”. The “Captures” folder will now turn translucent, but do not panic, your recordings are safe. Now, navigate to your desired location for instance D:\Recordings\TruckersMP Right click again. Press “paste” and a window will pop up telling you the remaining time for the transfer. Once this is complete, the “Captures” folder will have been moved and all past and future recordings will now be in this new location. Using advanced features XBOX game bar also has some more advanced features such as background recording. These features can be useful, however they require lots of system power. Background recording will continually record your gameplay and when you press a certain key combination (by default WINDOWS KEY + ALT + G) it will save the last x minutes of gameplay. You can choose how long it will save in the settings. To enable background recording: open up the game bar settings as shown earlier and select the captures tab before click the slider underneath “background recording”. In the drop down menu, you can select how long you wish your retrospective recordings to be. I would recommend 3 minutes as this will account for longer incidents such as repeated ramming or blocking. Now when you are rammed unexpectedly or reverse a triple trailer successfully (some say it is possible), you can press the key combination and save the last x minutes of gameplay, so you can share it. Changing key combinations The default key mappings of the XBOX Game Bar are easy to remember and access, however you may wish to change them. To do this: - Open the game bar settings as show earlier - Click the game bar button on the side panel - Click the area below the function for which you wish to change the key mapping for. A flashing cursor will appear - Now press your desired key combination, for instance ALT + F - success ! This can be used in combination with software such as Joy2Key to convert buttons on gamepads and steering wheels to your chosen key combination, enabling you to keep your hands on the wheel.

  4. This is a very simple howto guide on how to overtake (and be overtaken) properly. The first thing you should be aware of is DESYNC. Basically, what you see on your screen is not always what the other players are seeing. This might cause (unintentional) ramming in many situations. To counter that effect, here's some practical information that you should always follow. When overtaking - Start your overtaking maneuver when you are at least 60m from the truck in front of you (you can always check the distances using the <TAB> key). - Stay in line - When you checked that the other driver is 100m behind you, you can start merging back. - Alternatively, if you see the other driver turn its lights on, or hear him honk 2 short times, it means that you can fold back safely from his point of view, even if you're not 100m ahead. In that case, it's nice to thank him using the left-right-left-right blinker signal. Note that high beams would normally be used IRL, but cannot be seen for now in the MP game. When being overtaken - Stay in line - If you're riding at 90 km/h, it is nice to speed down a little so the other driver has a chance to overtake you. - When there's enough distance between you and the overtaker (60m should be enough), turn your lights on (or honk 2 short times if it's night time and your lights are already turned on) to signal that he can fold back safely. Let's hope everybody follow these rules, and the road will be a lot safer.
  5. Hello guys! I have some tips for you if you want to drive safe and not crash your truck. Allways obey traffic rulles! - Red lights - Give ways - Speed limits - No overtaking zones - Wrong way - Night lights There are some settings in game for safe driving. - Braking intensity = the slider bar must set to the maximum (on the right side) for a safe brake, then you can easy stop in emergency situations. - Trailer stability = the slider bar must set to the maximum (on the right side) for a best truck stability when you take turns. - Air brake simulation = must be disabled. If enabled when you brake too much times you will lost the air presure and you will not be able to move your truck, so that cause blocking the other ways and you will be baned. If you want to brevent this you must disable it. - High graphics = produces lags and low ping in MP, it's recomended to not use high settings. - Automatic retarder = if enabled produces more realistic driving when you drive on hills. TIPS for safe driving in game! - when you exit from a industry enable Hazard Warning Lights for AI traffic to stop for give you way, and always run at werry low speed when exit (I have tested this). - when you take turns always use blinkers to warn others wich direction you want to drive. - if you aproacing for a gren signal it's recommended to start braking from a distance for safety stop your truck if the light signal is changing. - do not overtake other trucks if you can't see the road ahead, in every moment other car or truck can drive on other way. - when you take turns always run bellow 40 km/h. - it's recommended to not run in paralel with other truck in highway, you don't know if others can steering right his way. - when you overtake someone, do not enter in front of his truck when you have passed him, and keep distance behind his truck, because of some lags on MP it's possible to crash onto his truck. - in highway try to use the first lane (Lane 1) as possible, you will need to pay attention only in the left mirror, if you will drive on the midlle lane you will need to keep looking on both side mirrors. - always use blinkers when you intend to change the driving lane or your direction for other to see your intention and let you to make this maneuvre. I hope you enjoy this game! Drive safe, keep money and don't crash your truck and others. If someone have more tips and recomendations please post here...
