Many people are currently facing issues with not being able to downgrade ATS, as there is not a MP-supported version available in the Steam beta list.
There is a very simple way to avoid this problem (although if you're facing the issue right now, it's too late - this method is a preventative, not a cure).
This works for both ETS2 and ATS:
• When you have downloaded either game, go to the following location on your PC:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
• Right click on the game folder (American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2) and choose 'copy'
• Press Ctrl+V on your keyboard - this creates an exact copy of your game folder, with ' - copy' at the end of the folder name
If ETS2 or ATS are then updated and MP no longer works, you simply have to do this:
• Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
• Right click on American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2 (whichever one you need to downgrade) and choose Rename
• Add an X or any other character, number, etc to the end of the folder name, and hit enter
• Right click on the folder with ' - copy' at the end of the name, and choose 'rename'
• Delete ' - copy' (including the leading 'space') from the folder name, and hit enter
That's it, you're done!
When MP is updated to work with the new version, all you have to do is delete the game folder, and rename the one you added the X to, so that it has its original name.
It's a good idea at this point to follow these instructions again, so that you don't get caught out again next time.
Happy trucking!
