  1. These images are stored in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\TruckersMP\installation\data\ets2 or ats or shared\ui\

No fancy caching or file format, its just stored in png files

The team just adds/removes/changes background images once in a while and for some events

If you wanted to add your own, you can just create a new folder in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\TruckersMP\installation\data\ and name it one of the following: ets2_mod ats_mod shared_mod and put png files in that location named similarly to "background9.png", preferably 1920x1080 resolution. You can also change some of the UI elements here

Of course, shared_mod will show between both games, ets2_mod only on ets2 and ats_mod only on ATS.

  2. Unfortunately, the game's physics engine simply isn't coded to properly handle FFB on FWD/AWD vehicles.

Potentially the upcoming addition of cars to ATS will provide appropriate handling of smaller vehicles in terms of physics and FFB.

I do agree that making the car RWD only would help quite a bit as the current situation stands, but that's up to suggestions or feedback.

What CAN help slightly if not done already, is in Gameplay settings you can ensure "Driveshaft torque" is at 0%. For some reason having it on makes the problem far worse.

  3. Normally winter mod starts to be supported in late December (usually around 20th-24th), however keep in mind the mod is made by a separate person and its possible for a game update or DLC release to delay its support.

The winter mod being disabled tends to happen at different dates, but normally its enabled for a few months depending on game updates and the mod being kept up to date with game versions.

Currently, the winter mod does not support 1.53 yet, but as soon as it becomes possible to use on TruckersMP you will see announcements on the forum/website and in the official Discord, as well as a knowledge base article on how to install it.

  4. In my experience, the majority of crashes (aside from actual mistakes) are caused by people attempting to overtake at the absolute worst times possible (85% of which is on the C-D road), regardless of what speed the truck (or trucks...) ahead of them is going or if there's even a truck coming the other way.

100kmh isn't enough for some people, it's all about "getting the overtake" for them regardless of how little sense it might make.

Behind that, its people who do full speed around every corner and expect the truck or car to just not have any issues and as such aren't even prepared for what happens.

As for people doing the speed limits, it can't be considered reckless driving because its the actions of other players around them (such as doing 110kmh on a 60kmh road and overtaking at inappropriate times) that are reckless.

If they only do 60kmh when there's people behind them and speed up as the other players try to pass, then its considered blocking.

With the people who don't go at green lights...I suppose that's where the game gets a little too realistic 😄

Keep in mind, everyone enjoys games in different ways and changing the way players drive would never fix the C-D road 😅

  5. To use the sii decrypt programs you don't actually open them, just drag the game.sii save file onto the program in the file explorer window and it will decrypt them, then just open in your preferred text editor.

You may also need to set the save file format in the console or config.cfg (Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/config.cfg) as g_save_format 2 for the file to decrypt properly

  6. It really depends on what you intend to use a second (or even third, as I do) monitor for and if you can justify spending the money yourself.

I personally find having three monitors as the right balance for what I usually do at my computer, but others might find more than one too distracting or not worth the money personally.

Some people will say its not worth it, but a lot of the people who say that wouldn't have a legitimate use for a secondary monitor.

If you can find yourself wanting other applications open to be able to see while playing games (discord, spotify, a live map, youtube, etc) then it might or might not be worth it for you personally.

If you want to use a secondary monitor to expand the game onto then its entirely up to you if the cost of another monitor is worth it.

If you have any intention of live streaming, then having two monitors will make doing so much easier as you can view the streaming software and chat without having to leave the game.

Basically ask yourself, "can I justify the cost for its potential use?"

  7. I imagine SCS is going to modify a lot of the already existing rest area/fuel station prefabs to include an electric charger somewhere to make it possible to recharge the vehicles, but in the newer areas of the map its not so easy since a lot of it isn't full prefabs anymore.

It's 100% possible to own the truck via save editing, but without the places to recharge the truck you pretty much have to save edit or use the emergency refueling option for a recharge.

It's also possible to put the electric motors into any of the existing trucks via save editing, which means we can have other currently non-ev trucks be electric. Range may be a bit of an issue for some of the trucks, though...

Naturally, there's always going to be a group of people not accepting new technology, but that's fine as they have their own reasons.

I do like the idea of having full electric vehicles in the game officially though, and since the hard work of getting the vehicles to mostly work is out of the way I imagine the rest of electric trucks are down to licensing and adding the ability to recharge.

  8. Simply put: No, they wouldn't remove bans and they don't collect any of the information those laws are intended to protect.

You can see what they collect here:

    http://truckersmp.com/policy

And it may be worth reading the Terms of Service here:

    http://truckersmp.com/terms

None of the current privacy laws across the few US states that do have them would allow you to specifically delete information such as bans.

The information these laws are intended to protect are private information such as name and address, neither of which are collected by TruckersMP.

For further advice on the laws and you would probably be better off speaking with a lawyer/attorney for the specifics.

  9. Trolls would absolutely pay for that, they already buy ETS2 on seperate steam accounts to bypass bans.

When people get banned for a mistake they made its unfortunate, but there's usually not much of a way to determine intentions from the point of a moderator.

It's against the rules for someone to purposely block an overtake by speeding up, but 90% of the time the person attempting the overtake can just slow down a little bit and get back behind them.

I'd also point out that the rules really don't change often at all (Most of them haven't been majorly changed in 3 years), and any time they do the game brings them up and forces you to read them before you can connect.

End of the day, I don't recommend overtaking in populated areas for nearly any reason, even if the person ahead of you is slow.

  10. IMO, this would just do more to encourage people to overtake down the center rather than fix the problems which would be solved by people driving more respectfully and understanding that doing 110kmh everywhere is a bad idea...causing even more crashes.

Having some amount of tight bends or "obstacles" such as narrower areas on a road forces players to slow down and pay more attention (it's pretty normal for modern road design/layout), so really this would only benefit the people who want to do 110kmh the entire time.

Plus, the majority of crashes there aren't usually very serious and don't tend to be more than a bump.

  11. Technically speaking, it isn't really a viable thing to do.

It's a bit of a gray zone when it comes to the legality of using assets from one game in another game if the player owns both, but what about when a player only owns ETS2 and sees someone driving a truck from ATS?

I can't imagine SCS or the companies that own the trademarks to these trucks would be super willing to allow TruckersMP to do that.

On the other side, yes its technically possible to do (which is why mods that do this in singleplayer exist) but requires time consuming work if you want the trucks to work properly with every single update SCS may do to the trucks in ATS and theoretically some updates to ETS2 would break them aswell.

  12. If the cars acted like they weighed almost nothing compared to trucks and did not all that much damage as they do IRL, it wouldn't be too terrible to increase the speed in places where the speed limit itself is higher than 110kmh.

Unfortunately with the way collisions work ingame (as well as the way some of the players behave ingame) it doesn't make much sense to do anything like that.

  13. If I understand your suggestion correctly, you want a server in the South American continent?

Splitting official events onto two separate servers for maybe 5% of the players doesn't seem like a viable option.

Adding to that, it wouldn't have much of a benefit for most of North America anyways since the connection from most of North America to Europe is about as good as from North America to South America.

I understand it would benefit South America heavily, but I really don't think there's enough people playing from there for it to be really useful.

Also, North America is a continent, as is South America

  14. It takes a VERY powerful computer to get more than 30 fps with 90-130 players nearby, that's just how TruckersMP is.

You can get higher fps if you lower/disable certain graphics options (such as scaling) but its likely you won't see much of a gain.

If you see people saying they're getting in excess of 80 fps in Calais when its busy, they are lying.

  15. I think this may actually cause more chaos than it will prevent...

There's usually people intentionally following GM's to be "cool" which results in lots of reckless overtaking and crashes to be #1 behind them.

And...the majority of people intentionally breaking the rules don't care whether there's a moderator nearby or not.

  16. The minimum allowed scaling for the HUD in the settings actually doesn't go small enough for me...I use a 1440p monitor that's fairly large compared to most (32"), so it measures at 7.75" x 5" (200 x 125mm) in real life size which is...a bit excessive.

I get it for smaller 1440p monitors needing larger scaling but for me its way too big and could use some more allowance in how small it can get.

  17. You don't need to select the 1.48 temporary version, as the full 1.48 release has come out.

Just select none in the betas.

Also, it looks like the TruckersMP path is incorrect.

Instead of "C:\Users\rpjwo\AppData\Local\TruckersMP\", it should be "C:\Users\rpjwo\AppData\Roaming\TruckersMP\installation"

  18. 1 hour ago, Granite said:

Not possible - TMP requires that you own a Steam account with the game and any DLC, which is permanently linked to a TMP account.

With cloud gaming services, you only rent games, you never really own anything.

Geforce now actually requires you to verify you own the game in steam as they only rent computing power and don't sell games, so it wouldn't be a problem with that but more that there's no way nvidia are going to allow a mod like TMP that modifies the game's code externally, especially in the form that it currently sits with an external launcher

  19. Suggestion Name: More shortened commands for the in-game chat

Suggestion Description: Add alternatives to typing out the entire commands, as some of them already have

    Any example images: Not needed

Why should it be added?: A bunch of commands already have shortened versions you can type, but there's also a lot that don't. It will make it easier for everyone to type out the commands and make it quicker to use them as well. Examples: /channel -> /ch, /pinfo -> /pi, /time -> /t

  20. The problem with this is that it encourages people to abuse the reporting system so they can then go abuse the rules earlier.

If it were a small community of say 4000 people, then this system wouldn't put too much of a load of spam into the report system and incorrect reports could be appropriately dealt with. However, there are millions of registered users and lots of accounts are created every single day, so no matter how you look at it, the report system would become full of spam and stay that way.

Basically, you shouldn't "gameify" reporting other players, because it will wreck the reporting system and create extra toxicity in the playerbase which we really don't need.
