Can't type in chat

I'm playing truckersmp right now and when I press Y to chat, it won't let me. And when I ask everyone they tell me it's Y to chat. How do you chat in game?

Thank you for your time to make a post in the Help section.

 

If you are pressing the Y button and the chat does not appear, then you probably have it disabled via the F9 button. Press once F9 button to enable it and then you should be able to open the chat.

That being said, if you are interested, you can also hide other players' nicknames and TAB as well by pressing the F11 button. That might be useful as well as the F9 button when you want to take a nice picture.
