What do pilots do?

So I got on ETS2MP today, and I realized that there are cars called pilots. I bought one and I'm just driving around now, and I don't actually know what pilots are supposed to do. Please help.

They are supposed to do convoy escort jobs.

 

But most of the pilot cars in game are trolls. They can not drive, ramming around and try controll the traffic.

They are used by Convoy Controllers and Convoy Operators sometimes, but as SprinterFS said, they are used a lot by trolls, to try and act as 'Admins' thinking they can control the traffic and pretend to have some power. They don't
