Question

Posted

Hello, I recently switched to a new system, but I think there's an issue. I purchased my RAM as DDR4 3600MHz, but when I check in Task Manager, it shows as 2133MHz. I tried overclocking through Windows, but I couldn't manage to do it. I believe this low speed is causing severe stuttering in games. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

First of all, good day to you. I'm sorry to hear about your issue.

Before moving on to the solution, I kindly ask you to look up your motherboard model online and find the BIOS key. After that, restart your system and pressing that key. This will open your motherboard's settings panel.

From there, change the XMP setting to 'Profile 1'. If you can’t find the XMP section, there should be a search icon at the top use it to locate the setting.

Once you enable it, press the 'X' in the top right corner, save the changes, and exit. Your system will restart, and your RAM should now run at its maximum speed.

Hello @Badowski

Before changing your RAM speed, you need to know your processor's maximum RAM speed. To find out, simply search for your processor on the Internet (the manufacturer's official website is always better) and look for Maximum memory speed in your processor's specifications

When you have this value in mind, we can get started!

To change the speed of your RAM, follow these steps:

  • Restart your computer
  • Open the BIOS by pressing the DEL key or the F12 key (a text message will tell you which key to press to open the BIOS when you start up your computer if neither of the above works)

Normally you should see a screen similar to this one

After entering the BIOS :

  • Press F7 (or the key your bios gives you) to access the advanced menu at the top of the screen

When you're in the Advanced menu, locate the Overclooking settings tab, abbreviated OC, on the left of the menu

You will now have a screen like this (sorry for the bad quality...) :

  • Find DRAM Setting
  • Select an A-XMP profile between 1 and 2, and look below to see if the two profiles are at the same speed
  • Then select DRAM frequency and choose DDR4-3600
  • When all this is done, go to settings in the menu just above the overclooking settings
  • Click Save and Exit
  • Click Save changes and reboot

Your PC will then reboot and save your change, don't hesitate to open the task manager to see if the change has been made correctly !

If all these explanations haven't helped, here's a youtube video explaining how to proceed : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/MYpMhfbogOY

I hope this answers your question

I wish you a good day
