Check out these solutions, maybe one of these will help you.

Solution 1)

Try running TruckersMP launcher as an administrator.

 

Solution 2)

Try to verify the integrity of the files via Steam. Guide

 

Solution 3)

Go to Documents -> Euro Truck Simulator 2 (or American Truck Simulator), delete config.cfg file and then launch the game.

 

Solution 4)

Run a System file checker on your computer then launch the game in DirectX 64-bit mode. Guide

For what we can be more assertive, please send us the error log.

 

Follow these steps 

 

This PC > Documents > ETS2MP > logs

In addition to providing your game logs as instructed above, are you also able to give some more situational context?

 

For example, is this when loading into busy areas only, or when using specific trucks? This may help us to solve your issue more quickly, so you and your friend are able to get back on the road!
