It happened because you hired drivers on single player and because of the desync with the time on MP, the hired drivers have worked tons of hours and they gave you those money. You can see that they also improved their skill bar, being more efficient.

Are you sure you downgraded to the right version?Go to Steam -> Right Click on ETS2 -> Properties -> BETAS -> Choose "temporary_1.23.x" version and not "NONE-Opt out of all beta programs" or other options. Can you post a screenshot of you current version of the game?Thanks!

Try Right Clicking on the Game -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache and try again after. If not, a fast reinstall might help, considering the game is not that big. Good Luck!
