an error occurred updating euro truck simulator 2 (disk write error)

ShayChalloner

Question

PLEASE HELP ME!

I have looked and tried most things on the internet that i could find, none of them helped.

This occured after i tried to update back so i could play multiplayer after the 1.22.1 update, in which it wont finish the update anymore, it just says 'an error occurred updating euro truck simulator 2 (disk write error)'. I have deleted the local files twice and reinstalled twice, both times it says the same thing.

Also installed another game to be sure it wasnt my harddrive, and its not. Somthing to do with the game files but i dont know what.

Please help me people. I could try reinstall my O/S but if i can avoid that i will try to. If you guys have any suggestions please help me.

Shay.

Make sure you have enough disk space, if you don't, install to another disk. Also, possibly remove local content, reinstall game. Your mods & saved games should be safe, but back them up first to be sure. Then try

hi mate, maybe your harddrives messed up?

Open "My Computer"

Locate the Local Disk ( C: ) or what drive your installing the steam game to and right-click > Properties > Tools > Error-Checking > Check Now.

Tick the "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" and then select Start. If it's the Operating Systems drive (currently being accessed), it might want you to restart and perform the scan on startup instead.

I/O Errors are from Hard Drive failure, if it's just a small part / certain area (bad sector) of the HD, you can have your system mark that area as bad and continue on. However, if your hard drive is too damaged, it might degrade over time and start losing data, in which case backup what you can now for safety and maybe invest in a new one.

Ok it has appeared i have fixed it by deleting all the local files, and going into the files to be sure they have gone, and then closing the app down in the task manager.

But now my multiplayer launcher is saying i need to go back to 1.21.1 but there is no option to do so in the betas, just 1.21.x

Is that the correct one?
