TruckersMP won't launch, gives out no errors, only exception reported via Windows Event Viewer

Zandroid

Question

Hello there, looking for some help troubleshooting an error i'm getting that doesn't seem to be listed out there.

when i double click TruckersMP to launch, nothing happens at all, no errors, no messages.

All i can see is some errors reported via Windows Event Viewer.

There's an application error:

Faulting application name: Launcher.exe_Launcher, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x585a04a5
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.19041.804, time stamp: 0x0e9c5eae
Exception code: 0xe0434352
Fault offset: 0x000000000002d759
Faulting process id: 0x32d4
Faulting application start time: 0x01d718fb049081a1
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\TruckersMP Launcher\Launcher.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll
Report Id: e0577568-6a16-49bd-8aee-c0073fa3a27d
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

And there's a .NET Runtime Error:

Application: Launcher.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: exception code e0434352, exception address 00007FFC1624D759
Stack:

Some things i've already tried;

- Install .NET Framework 4.0, 4.7, 4.8, you name it... all say my operating system already includes .net at a higher version.
- Install TruckersMP as Admin.
- Uninstall TruckersMP and remove all registry entries.
- Re-install TruckersMP at different folders, Program Files , Steamapps\Common, under ETS2 directory...all same exact error.
- verify the integrity of the files via Steam.
- launch the game in DirectX 64-bit mode before running TruckersMP.
- Moving the Game install folder to a different drive, using Steam Client and doing all over again the uninstall/reinstall of TruckersMP.
- downgrading ETS2 from latest to v1.39.0s
- All attempts seem to have the same effect as the error remains the same after reinstall.

There's no such folder.

which has now led me to think i may have OneDrive messing up with my    Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\   Folder.... i'm going to disable it and try again.

disabled One Drive, there's only    Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\   but no crashlog or any ETS2MP folder

You should have a "game.log" file which can be found in your "Euro Truck Simulator 2" folder that should also be helpful to find the reason for why your game is crashing. In best case, you copy paste the content of this file to "Pastebin" and share the link of the Pastebin file with us.

Additionally, you should check if your firewall or any antivirus software is maybe blocking TruckersMP or try to use a VPN when you open TruckersMP.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I finally resolved the problem and i'm now able to launch TruckersMP,  haven't played yet but the "no error" condition is gone and the MP initial screen launches successfully.

It appears i had some corrupted files in my windows updates.

Here are the steps that resolved the issue:

1. Windows key and the ‘R‘ key.
2.  type “msconfig“.

3. Click on the “General” tab and then uncheck the box beside the “Load startup items“.

4. Make sure the “Load system services” is checked.

5. Click the “Services” tab.

6. Then check the “Hide all Microsoft services” and then click on the “Disable all“.

7. Now, click on “Apply” and “OK“.

8. Reboot your computer, it will be booted in clean mode.

9. Run the command "sfc /scannow"   using administrator rights to check the health of system files and repair corrupted system files.

10. Run  the command   "  Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup  "  using administrator rights

11. Run  the command   "  Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command  "  using administrator rights

12. Run Windows Update check for updates, apply updates (in my case some 20H2 updates came visible after the above steps)   and  then restart.
