  1. I've used the tfm-request command several times and it's a great way to interact with the community without having to leave the game. [Of course you have to stop in a safe manner before using the chat.]

A great feature in my opinion.

The radio box is slightly less useful as I would just use the chat command instead, although I can see how it may be useful for those who don't want to stop in order to identify which song is playing.

  2. Hi there,

One possibility may be that after a job your ignition turns off. When this happens, the wheel will become extremely stiff as the power steering is disabled. The way to fix this is to restart the engine by depressing the clutch and then the accelerator, or by turning on the ignition by pressing the key you have mapped to it (e or = by default).

    I hope this helps.

  3. Hi there,

If you don't feel confident enough with save editing. You could use this https://mods-generator.com/ to generate a trailer mod for the cement mixer.

You would then download this put it in the mods directory (my documents \ euro truck simulator 2 \ mod) and then launch the game IN SINGLEPLAYER. Enable the mod using the mod manager and then go to the trailer purchase screen. If all works correctly, you should be able to purchase it, but do not attempt to customize it as it may crash your game.

Now load TMP as normal and you will be able to play with it.

I hope this method proves easier.

  4. Hi there,

If you buy a new copy of ETS2 or use a friend's that would count as ban evading and you would be permanently banned again with no chance to lodge an appeal.

Your only chance of playing TruckersMP again is to appeal your bans using the ban appeal system https://truckersmp.com/appeals and if that is denied, you could make a feedback ticket at https://truckersmp.com/feedback. If your appeal is successful, you will be unbanned and able to play TruckersMP again. If not, you will not be able to play TruckersMP again. If you do get unbanned, I would recommend you read the rules thoroughly to prevent yourself from being banned again. https://truckersmp.com/rules

  5. Hi there,

I often enjoy driving a vehicle with no trailer and like to customize my truck. However, I never change the rear indicator lights because I'm not confident that other people will be able to see them

So I ask you this, which is the safest customized rear lights (from a tuning pack) and in which area(s), basing this off statistics of drivers and their dlcs, but also excluding any drivers that have not been online in the past month?

Ideally, you could compile a list such as:

    *made up statistics*

45% of Italia DLC owners have the Mighty Griffin Pack

12% of NO-MAPDLCs have the XF tuning pack

This would help us make informed decisions about customizing our trucks in a safe and considerate manner.

  6. I find it helpful to manually disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network.

If that doesn't work, I would recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling your wireless card with the drivers from the manufacturer. Make sure you download these from their website instead of using the drivers built into Windows 10 which will often not work as well.

If possible it is best to use a good quality ethernet cable (preferably not flat) of the cat 5e standard or higher (this will be written along the cable) which will provide a more reliable connection than wireless.

Failing that, I would suggest a factory reset of your wireless router and a reinstallation of both Ets2 and TMP (you have to remember that tmp is in an "alpha" state).

  8. Hello,

I would like to save edit both of the pilot beacons onto the skoda.

I would describe myself as reasonably proficient in save editing and I copied the extra accessory, before adding it to the list of accessories and changing the number of accessories by +1.

    Unfortunately, this did not work.

How can I do this successfully?

Is there a new event ? Also in WoT ? I didn't see one yesterday.

When will TruckersMP be fixed for version 1.38 of ETS2?

TruckersMP will be updated to 1.38 (most likely) in the coming weeks. It takes the developers a while as they have to reverse engineer everything and then adapt it for a multiplayer environment. In the meanwhile, you need to downgrade your ets2 version using this article.

Is it me, or am I missing a step? I don't see any differences..

It is quite a subtle change.

A good way to tell would be to go and visit rural companies that usually have yellow grass, it should be significantly greener.

The dark skies also look very different such as in this video.

  11. You would want to use the default trailer position that occurs when you travel between garages.

Take one photo (in free cam), switch truck but do not switch camera position.

You would then drive to the trailer without moving the camera and take another photo.

Alternatively, you could just use photo editing to achieve the same thing.

  12. Suggestion Name: ETS2 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT

Suggestion Description: On the week of the 10 year anniversary of ETS2, open a server that only supports version 1.0 of ETS2. The server would be freeroam with collisions (speed limit of 150km/h), however all standard tmp rules would apply.

    Any example images:

Why should it be added?: This event would help all tmp players to appreciate how far truckersmp and euro truck simulator 2 have come, and also would provide some great nostalgia and retro vibes.

  13. Good content however I disagree on the website point. I certainly wouldn't recommend buying a domain for 24 months, but with how cheap domains and hosting are these days, I don't think it would be a bad idea to purchase a domain on a month to month basis and set up a basic website. Many people's first instinct if they spot someone's tag in game would be to google it and with seo, it could help people spot your vtc.

Other than that, great guide and thanks for making it! ?

I would personally disagree with the concept of the Tertiary Position. Specifically, the idea that you should angle yourself to be facing onto the carriageway. Within the confines of TMP, you're in a truck which is large and visible anyway, so the idea that this will make you more visible is redundant.

It's also particularly dangerous if you are struck from behind, as this will more than likely result in you rolling onto the live carriageway, increasing the potential for more collisions. If you are parked parallel to the hard shoulder, this risk is reduced.

    Hi Paddy,

I appreciate your concerns, so I've updated the guide to describe how the parking brake should be on and the wheels turned fully to the right. This should fully prevent the vehicle from rolling into the carriageway.

Thanks for commenting and I hope I've alleviated your concerns,

  15. One of the first things that will quickly become apparent to beginners when they first start using TMP is that incidents and collisions do occur. These may seem inevitable, however by implementing the techniques and procedures given in this guide, it is possible to avoid collisions and incidents entirely.

This guide is also available through Google Docs using this link.

    Defensive Driving

The whole principle of defensive driving is to drive your vehicle in such a way that accidents and incidents will not occur and that you will be able to avoid one if it happens around you. Defensive driving is an advanced skill that will take many hours to fully perfect, however the techniques and procedures are relevant to all.

    Proper Distance

One of the leading causes of collisions in TruckersMP is people not keeping an appropriate distance from the vehicle(s) ahead. When following at a closer distance, you will have less time to react, increasing the chance of a collision or incident. It is important to remember that keeping a safe distance will enable you to react properly to the vehicle ahead.

The following rules should be followed:

    • Minimum distance of 50 metres (this can be checked by pressing TAB to bring up the in-game UI)
    • In traffic jams, drive closer but still keep a distance of 5 metres, particularly if you are queuing on an incline as vehicles ahead may roll back slightly when performing a hill start.
    • Adjust your distance according to the road conditions and any other hazards. Using your route advisor, you can see the turns ahead as well as the locations of other players - increase the distance between you and the player ahead if there are sharp bends or large amounts of oncoming traffic (groups of 4 players or more).

    Proper Speed Management

Speed is always a variable in any incident or collision. This is because at a higher speed, you have less time to react to a hazard and your vehicle will be harder to control, especially if you have a heavy load.

The following guidelines should be followed:

    • Do not exceed the speed limit at any time
    • The speed limit is a limit not a recommendation - it may often be appropriate to drive at speeds lower than the speed limit, for instance when approaching a junction or sharp bends.
    • Do not attempt to overtake anyone unless they are doing significantly below the speed limit. This is so that you will not exceed the speed limit and become a reckless driver.

    Vehicle Positioning

The way that you position your vehicle on the road and within your lane can play a big role in how other drivers perceive you and how they will react to you.

Many people will think that it is good practice to always drive in the centre of the lane, however this is not the case.

Your lane positioning is a reflection of your intentions, and therefore it is vital that you continually adapt your lane positioning in order to be a good defensive driver. In this guide, we will explain the 4 main lane positions and then explain when and where each should be used.

    Primary Position

This image shows a good “primary” lane positioning. Notice how the vehicle is closer to the centre line than the fog line. You should be in this position on most single carriageways. This lane position should also be adopted when queuing in congested areas.

    spacer.png

The primary position is called such because it puts you in control of the lane. Vehicles behind should not overtake you (if they’re not being reckless), which improves the safety for all road users. Some people may think being closer to the fog line is advantageous as it is easier for vehicles to overtake, however this actually makes it more dangerous as overtaking vehicles may be overconfident and not choose a large enough gap.

Oncoming vehicles will also see you more easily, when in the primary position which gives them more time to react to your presence.

    Secondary Position

spacer.pngThe secondary position is a more passive position and is generally only used for reacting to other road users.

It leaves you in a secondary role in the lane with vehicles behind subconsciously viewing you as weak, which may encourage them to overtake, potentially causing an accident.

Do not drive in the secondary position except for the reasons listed below!

    Tertiary Position

spacer.pngThe tertiary position is where the vehicle is in the hard shoulder, not moving. Note how the vehicle is at a slight angle, which makes them more visible to traffic, as well as making it easier for them to merge with the lane when rejoining the carriageway. Turn your wheels all the way to the right, so that if you are struck, your vehicle will move further into the hard shoulder, instead of out into a live lane. Make sure your parking brake is turned on, so your vehicle will stay in position if struck.

When in the tertiary position, it is vital that you have your hazard warning lights and your running lights on. Beacons (if fitted) are optional in this circumstance.

    Central Position

    spacer.png

The central position is one that most vehicles will adopt when on the roads at all times, however as a good defensive driver, you will switch between this main lane positioning and the other three fluidly and without concern. The central position is a mixture between primary and secondary, exactly halfway in the lane. Vehicles behind may still overtake when in this position, however they will be less confident than if you were in the secondary position.

    Choosing the correct lane positioning

For ease of use, the suggested circumstances for each lane positioning will be provided in a table in the google docs document. Here, on the TMP forum, it will be in list form. Please use this link if you wish to access the Google Docs version and see the table.

    Lane Positioning Type

    Primary

    • You are intending to turn left or right
    • You are cornering

    Notes:

    • Turn on your indicator at least 50 metres before the turning and use your retarder to gradually decrease your speed when turning.

    Secondary

    • You are allowing another driver to overtake
    • An oncoming vehicle is oversized or driving recklessly
    • You are intending to pull over

    Tertiary

    • You are adjusting in game settings
    • You are checking your map
    • You are waiting for a colleague or friend
    • You are stopping to allow (a group of) faster and/or reckless drivers to overtake

    Notes:

    • Hazard warning lights should be turned on to improve visibility. Use the parking brake.

    Central

    • The road is straight
    • The road is multilane

    Notes:

    • This is generally the default road position, however remember to continually react to the road conditions and other drivers.

    Incident Management

If you follow the guidance above, it is unlikely that you will be involved in an incident but if you are, you should follow the procedure below.

    1. Turn on your hazard warning lights and attempt to move your vehicle out of the carriageway into the tertiary position
    2. Assess the situation: was it your fault?, who caused the incident?, how could it have been avoided?, will the road be cleared shortly?
    3. Type in chat (if applicable) - if the incident is taking a long time to clear itself or if it is after a corner, typing something along the lines of "CAUTION - CRASH AFTER CORNER" for instance might help other people avoid becoming part of the incident
    4. Use the in-game reporting system (if applicable) - if someone else has caused an incident through violation of the TMP rules, it is good practice to use the in game reporting system (accessed by pressing the TAB key) and pressing report
    5. Assess your vehicle - use the F7 menu to check for damage. If it is greater than 5%, your vehicle will handle noticeably differently and a good defensive driver would request a tow to service to help keep other road users safe

That's all for the moment, although I may update this guide if it proves popular. If you found it useful/helpful, please leave feedback in the comment section below, otherwise, have a nice day/evening and stay safe on the roads!

Just use the win 10 second plan record , allows you to set from 30 seconds to 30 minutes , example , you set it on 5 , what it does is if somebody goes agaisnt you , you just press Win key + Alt + G and records the last 5 minutes so it will catch the accident.

    Regards!

The issue with this solution is that is very taxing on the computer (ie. it uses a lot of processing power and ram, particularly in comparison to just continuously recording).

I would recommend recording all your TruckersMP gameplay and keeping the footage for 1.5 months, so that if you get reported and banned, you will have the incident on video, which could help with an appeal.

  17. Whether it is for a montage video or reporting someone who is violating the rules, it can be very useful to be able to record your gameplay in TruckersMP.

    GUIDE WITH IMAGES

In this guide, we will cover:

    • how to use the XBOX recording suite
    • how to change the quality and framerate of the recording
    • how to change the location of the recordings
    • Other useful tips to maximise the usefulness of the tool

    Requirements:

    • Windows 10 operating system
    • A reasonably powerful system

It is important to note that recording gameplay will use additional system resources and therefore on weaker systems may cause noticeable slowdowns in TruckersMP. Most modern systems should be fine, however.

    XBOX GAME BAR

The XBOX game bar (as it is called) can be brought up at any time throughout the Windows 10 operating system (unless you are playing protected content) by pressing the WINDOWS key and the G key simultaneously. A prompt may appear asking whether you want to identify that application as a game, if it does, accept it.

The UI should look similar to how it does in the image below. There are some performance metrics, which can be useful to see what the bottleneck  in your system is, along with some other features however we are interested in the panel called capture.

Using the capture box is one way to start and stop recordings in the XBOX suite. If you press the button with the white circle, a recording will begin, the XBOX game bar will close and a timer will appear in the top right hand area of your screen showing how long you have been recording for. You can then press the stop button when you want to stop recording.

Starting recordings with a keyboard shortcut

Using the XBOX game bar to start and stop recordings is fine, however it may be difficult and dangerous to attempt to use it whilst driving a truck. Luckily you can easily start and stop a recording using a keyboard shortcut. This may be useful if you spot someone who is breaking the rules and wish to report them, but are not already recording.

By default, the keyboard shortcut to start and end recordings is:

    WINDOWS KEY + ALT + R

This keyboard shortcut can be changed using the steps I will show you later and it is even possible to map it to a macro pad or similar device, perhaps a button on a steering wheel.

N.B. ALL VIDEOS USED IN TRUCKERSMP REPORTS MUST BE AT LEAST 5 SECONDS LONG OTHERWISE THE EVIDENCE MAY BE INVALID AND DECLINED

CHANGING THE QUALITY AND FRAMERATE OF THE RECORDINGS

By default, the xbox game bar will record your content at the following settings:

    • At the full resolution of your monitor
    • At 30 frames per second
    • At a “standard” quality (I have found this to be roughly 6.5mbps, however this will depend on your resolution)

These settings are fine for most people and will be sufficient for reports, however if you intend to make a video montage or use the captures for videography purposes I recommend you change these settings to record in 60fps and at a “high quality”.

To change these settings, you press the WINDOWS KEY on your keyboard and type “game bar settings” using your keyboard, before pressing enter.

Then press the captures button, as shown below.

Scroll down to the “recorded video” section and select your desired frame rate and quality from the menus.

How to change the location of the recordings

    • By default the recordings will save to the following folder This PC \ Videos \ Captures. This may be fine for some people however often the C:\ drive where the Videos folder is will be smaller and you may wish to store your recordings on another drive, for instance an external hard drive or a removeable flash drive.
    • Go into the Videos folder where the “Captures” folder will be located and right click on the “Captures” folder before selecting “cut”. The “Captures” folder will now turn translucent, but do not panic, your recordings are safe.
    • Now, navigate to your desired location for instance D:\Recordings\TruckersMP
    • Right click again. Press “paste” and a window will pop up telling you the remaining time for the transfer. Once this is complete, the “Captures” folder will have been moved and all past and future recordings will now be in this new location.

    Using advanced features

XBOX game bar also has some more advanced features such as background recording. These features can be useful, however they require lots of system power in comparison with the standard recording.

Background recording will continually record your gameplay and when you press a certain key combination (by default WINDOWS KEY + ALT + G) it will save the last x minutes of gameplay. You can choose how long it will save in the settings. This can be useful as it saves on disk space and network bandwidth as well as removing the need to edit the video, as you'll be left with a short clip you can easily upload to YouTube or Streamable.

    To enable background recording:

    •  open up the game bar settings as shown earlier and
    • select the captures tab before
    • click the slider underneath “background recording”.
    • In the drop down menu, you can select how long you wish your retrospective recordings to be. I would recommend 3 minutes as this will account for longer incidents such as repeated ramming or blocking.

Now when you are rammed unexpectedly or reverse a triple trailer successfully (some say it is possible), you can press the key combination and save the last x minutes of gameplay, so you can share it.

    Changing key combinations

The default key mappings of the XBOX Game Bar are easy to remember and access, however you may wish to change them.

    To do this:

    - Open the game bar settings as show earlier

    - Click the game bar button on the side panel

    - Click the area below the function for which you wish to change the key mapping for. A flashing cursor will appear

    - Now press your desired key combination, for instance ALT + F

    - success !

This can be used in combination with software such as Joy2Key to convert buttons on gamepads and steering wheels to your chosen key combination, enabling you to keep your hands on the wheel.
