Is "World of Trucks" causing issues with TMP on ETS2 1.38?

Pol_Malvinas

Question

This was not stated on the release of TMP's latest version, supporting ETS 2 v1.38.

When I tried to re-connect my profile to WoT (as I had to downgrade to 1.37 to keep on playing and eventually disconnect from WoT as it wouldn't work with the older version), the game crashed.

If I tried to send the developers a report (right from the crash dialog menu), something looped over and over and kept going back to that 'send report' dialog. Only when I chose 'no' to send report, the game quit to desktop.

How long should we stay away from WoT "external" jobs?

Would you announce in any way or form, the possibility to reconnect our profiles to WoT?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

Pol.

Hey there!

When you're going to do some external jobs, (it doesn't matter that the job is own trailer, or not) you've to use the latest version of the game. World of Trucks isn't compatible backwards, so you're right. If you've played on your profile with 1.38 in singleplayer, and then you downgrade to 1.37, and use the same profile (with which you played 1.38) that may be a possible problem (because saves also aren't compatible backwards through the game versions).
If the problem isn't with the profiles reverse compatiblity, try to remove/unlink World of Trucks in the game files (because maybe it is linked, even if the game doesn't show this).

- World of Trucks connection data (e-mail and password) is stored in: Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/profiles/<your profile/profiles>/profile.sii  -> in the profile.sii, scroll down to the bottom until you find to lines: online_user_name and online_password (you need an SII_Decrypt to make the file "readable"). If there is anything between the quotes, clear it, and just leave the two quotes both lines, without a space between them.

If your problem isn't solved, send a crash log, and we could help more, or try to verify integrity of game files on Steam -> ETS2 -> properties -> local files (to be honest I don't think that this will solve the problem, but without a crash log, give it a try).

No, it has not.

And regarding what @KINIT said, I'm not sure I understand why that explains my problem, so I'll try to be as specific as possible as to what I've been doing with the game versions.

I started a profile with version 1.36 and leveled up a bit.

Then, I upgraded to 1.37, nothing relevant here.

Then I upgraded to 1.38 and tried to run TMP and found out the hard way the mod was incompatible. So I decided to give 1.38 a couple of whirls and kept on playing in SP for a few jobs more.

Then I really missed TMP much more than I thought I would, so I downgraded to 1.37 and found out my profile wasn't backwards compatible, so I was forced to start a new profile, now starting up again from 1.37. At this point, I found out the hard way that WoT isn't compatible with earlier versions of the game. I tried to connect to WoT and the game crashed, so I stayed away from it and kept on playing without "External Contracts".

Then, TMP released a version that supports 1.38, so I upgraded the game to 1.38 and loaded the latest profile I had been playing with, which is the last one I started at 1.37. I just brought it along with the upgrade into 1.38. This seemed like the most sensible and reasonable thing to do. Now, after maybe a couple of jobs, it dawned on me that now there was nothing keeping me back from trying "External Contracts" by connecting my profile to WoT again. But, I found out the hard way that I was wrong.

So...

Do I really have to crack open some obscure file residing on the fringe of my personal folder just to play with the mod??

Would starting even again, a new profile deal with this issue??

Thank you so much for the help.
