Recommendation for Fuel Economy Truck

Hello everyone,

What do you guys think about the best fuel economy truck right now? And what HP and what Gearbox are you guys using for the best fuel economy ?
I am using Scania R (new) with 520HP and 12 R gearbox, which gives me 40l/100km in 25t trailer appx 600km+ routes.

If you got better setup let me know ...
Thanks

The best economy I seem to be able to get is with the previous generation Scania trucks, 440hp motor plus the overdrive 12 speed gearbox, giving me generally 30l/100km or less with careful driving and not using cruise control. (On fairly hilly routes, at 80km/h)

The volume (size) of an engine is a big factor for both ETS2 and ATS when it comes to fuel economy, the v8 Scania engines are all 16.4 liter while for example, the 440hp engine is 12.7 liter.

If you take hilly routes mostly, a more powerful engine can theoretically get you better fuel economy than a less powerful engine.

Also, 70-80km/h tends to be the "sweet zone" for fuel economy with the gearboxes ETS2 has, and keep the engine at around 1000-1300rpm.

i find the volvo 750 to be very economic on the 1 axel I can get 3 convoys in that which is usually 1000 km or just a little over & then for driving yeah keeping to a slower speed like 80 kmh is pretty fuel efficient preferably nothing over 25t as the heavier your load the more you will use as the truck is using more power through the gears

Hi, I have been testing several trucks, and compared them to real statistics. Generally the in-game and real life fuel consumption don't match. From my observations, the best trucks for efficient driving are DAF and new generation Scania R.
I drove 500.000km with Scania Streamline, and 200.000 with Scania R2009 with various engines, gearboxes and driving styles. From that experience, I can recommend you looking for gearboxes, that have about 1050-1100RPM at the speed where you turn on your cruise control. If you drive lighter cargoes, I recommend engines with 420-500hp, for heavier cargoes or double trailers, I recommend 560-620hp. Playing on a steering wheel/ gamepad, can help you to lower the consumption, as you have more control over throttle and breakes.

Haven't tested out the exact fuel efficiency of trucks, but I can say that switching gears at optimum RPM can help you get a good economy. You can do this even while using automatic transmission by simply stepping in to manually switch the gears when you feel like the truck is at an optimum RPM for a gear change. Additionally, if you're using automatic transmission, have your transmission mode game settings to Economy Mode instead of High Power Mode.
