I noticed that the Special Cargo pack kicked me out of TruckersMP upon starting it. After a long, boring drive between 2 escort cars at 40 mph, I wanted to know why it wasn't supported. That led me to the forums, and to some dead-end links about the announcement that supposedly explained why it wasn't supported yet.

So I'm here, putting in my 2 cents and seeing if there's any way to add support for the Special Cargo pack for TruckersMP. Why bother? I'm just trying to make the most out of my multiplayer and trucking experience. I didn't know that Special Cargo was based on mini-quests with structured rules. While I like this at first, it made the drive rather slow and tedious. On another note, all the other trailer packs are supported in TruckersMP, so how do we come up with a happy medium?

Easy:

Step 1) Disable the patrol cars. Make the drive just like any other for multiplayer. The hard part is making it not insta-fail because the patrol cars dont exist.

Step 2) Add the black trailers like with Heavy Cargo pack. This way players without the pack can still see the trailers, but that doesn't account for wide cargo, so...

Step 3) Add a cube that stretches to the cargo's width and height, so that the hitbox is not inivisble to other players. This cube can have a texture of a crate to look like cargo, or some other plain texture just to show that it's got a wide hitbox.

The rest is up to your guys interpretation. I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to implement, it's just going to take some time.

As these Special Transport are specialised drives along fixed routes, it seems to me inappropriate to unleash these onto MP where there can be multiple interruptions, not least to the careful process of the actual driving itself. They need to stick in a safe, controlled SP environment.

Unless we want 70t 6m-wide loads trying to race by each other on C-D road at a closing speed of 220km/h... Carnage is not the word.

No, it wouldn't work.

Special transports involve AI in the form of escort vehicles and also many scripted police vehicles that stop traffic for you wherever needed, and because AI is disabled in TMP, without them, you would be on your own.

And even if you could keep at least your escort vehicles, we all know how the "kings of the road" would treat you. Nobody would give a damn and you would end up being passed left and right, cut off and rammed, becuase you are only allowed to drive 60km/h.

Moreover, the routes are scripted and rather short and you can't deviate from them, and with multiple players doing the same route would result in even more chaos.

Anyway, I voted "Yes", but will not be possible without AI traffic and some rule and community changes.

Only in the Arcade server, maybe. But that's ETS2 only, since there's no ATSMP arcade server (there would be complaints). In collision enabled servers, with the current playerbase, it's unthinkable. Lots of people would take the biggest trailers at 110 Km/h everywhere. It's bad enough the way it is currently, the last thing we need is "Idiots on the road with huge trailers".
