Cannot connect to server

Ethis

Question

Hello,

I have been using truckersmp for a while, but didn't get to play it for a couple months. I tried getting back to it since last week, and i am having connection issues.
The TruckersMP login page works fine, it shows me "Succesfully logged in". But when i click Drive in the game, it says "Could not connect to servers. This may be caused by your internet connection. We will try to reconnect you in the next 10 seconds". I was in game for nearly 1 hour, but i did not connect to the servers.
Here's what i have tried so far:
- Reinstalling TruckersMP

- Reinstalling ETS2
- Changed DNS settings to GoogleDNS and back to my original DNS

- Manually added rules in Windows Firewall
I have no mods installed, and I have no bans on my profile. I don't know what to do anymore, so any help is appreciated. I'm running Windows 10 1903, if that helps. This is the only game that has issues like this, everything else works fine.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,

It may cause by your internet

Try these to fix this problem

1. Try turning your router off for 1 minute and then turning it back on and see if you still have connection problems

2. Try clearing your DNS cache, follow this link for the guide https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+To+Clear+Your+DNS+Cache

3. Try changing your DNS to Google's one and see if that has any effect https://www.techworm.net/2016/08/change-default-dns-google-dns-fast-internet-speeds.html

4. Try re-setting your win-sock cache

Click on windows search program and type "cmd" enter (run cmd as an admin, right click run as admin)

Once you're in, type "netsh winsock reset catalog" enter

Type "netsh int ip reset.log hit" enter

Restart your computer

Reset your network adapter, firewall and DHCP.

This page will guide you through what you need to do and explains for different Windows operating systems as you scroll down.

https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=6653

You type

·         netsh int ip reset reset.txt

·         netsh winsock reset

·         netsh advfirewall reset

into a command prompt window

Also make your your internet doesn't block the connection

And try this:

well, tried everything mentioned here, still didn't work. I feel maybe something is wrong with my ISP since it works fine for my friends and a couple of them have the same device as me.

Hello :)

Have you tried to use VPN programs to play ?

Have you managed to connect at all? If you could give it a go this morning/later today and see if you're still getting that message.

And have you tried reinstalling TruckersMP launcher ?

Follow this:

  • Press the Windows Key + R (Win+R) on your keyboard
  • Enter "%programdata%" and press Enter (without the quotes)
  • Find the folder "TruckersMP" and delete that folder.
  • Navigate to C:\Program Files\ and delete the folder named "TruckersMP Launcher"
  • Go to our website and re-download and install the Launcher with admin privileges https://truckersmp.com/download/
  • Open The Launcher with admin privileges and click "Install Available Updates"

If it still doesn't work, try these

Solution 1:

Verify the router or modem if the "UPNP" option is active, you usually find this option in the configures of your modem / router entering through the IP, for example: "192.168.1.1".

Prioritize your router by resetting your internet router. If this does not help, make sure that all the devices in the house are not connected to the internet and if you are using Wi-Fi, try playing with the cable. If you still have a connection problem, try opening the following custom ports: 42860, 49200, 42890. Also set up Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Make sure that there is no blocking of the Windows firewall from connecting. Turn on the Windows firewall and say Restore defaults.

If none of these work, you can clean the Host file, enable DHCP, clear the DNS cache and clear the ARP / Route Table.

You can also easily reset your router. All you have to do is run certain rooms.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/netadapter/?source=directory

Solution 2:

Clear your PC's temp files with CCleaner, https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download

Do a dns flush, https://www.wikihow.com/Flush-DNS

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL keys and open the Task Manager see if there are some updating services running in the background processes (Example: Adobe IPC Broker service,or any form of updater service),

Disable any unwanted programs you dont want running and hogging internet, https://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/

If using wireless making sure that the router is not placed so that it is next to anything electrical such as a television

Purchasing a Cat6 Ethernet Cable and so connecting through cable instead of wirelessly

Clearing the ARP Cache https://techjourney.net/clear-delete-and-refresh-arp-cache-entry/

Resetting your network adapter https://www.home-network-help.com/netsh-winsock.html

Hello, i recommend that you try to ping test so you can determine what your response time for data reception/sending is to the corresponding server. In order to do so, please open your console by typing 'cmd' in the Windows Search bar and then type "ping xxxxxxxxxxxx" in the console and press Enter (instead of xxxxxxxxxxx you insert the IP of all the servers you want to ping, you can find them here: https://stats.truckersmp.com/. So for example you type "ping 145.239.131.35" if you want to ping the Promods 1 server for TMP Servers). You will get the ping in milliseconds, the lower it is, the better. I recommend that you watch which server gives you the best (lowest) ping result and then try to connect to that one. Since TMP requires a constant, stable internet connection it is essential that you got sufficient and - most importantly - consistent connection quality. Your average ping should be below 100ms, otherwise desynchronization might become an issue for you.

Best Regards

Once again, i have tried everything mentioned above, including reinstalling TruckersMP 5 times, and Euro Truck Simulator 2 twice, it still doesn't work.

I have also tried playing it with and without VPN, as well as trying with and without a DNS, and still got the same result.

I have also tried resetting the router and got the same result.

I am able to log in to truckers mp in the game, as it shows me the message "Successfully logged in", but the problem only arrives when i click drive.

I tried the ping test and i got an average of 248ms ping, which is what i usually get since I'm from Asia. Unless the ping is the reason i am not able to connect, i don't think there is any other solution other than my ISP blocking access to the server.

There are many other factors besides internet connection that can affect your ping, and I’ll help you to deal with these factors first:

Connect via Ethernet cable

Ethernet cable connection is usually preferred for online gaming. Because WiFi connection is prone to many real-world interferences, such as nearby electronic devices, walls and even distance from the router.

Directly connecting via ethernet cable eliminates all types of interferences and ensures you get the best available speed.

Alternatively, you can also disable the WiFi in your router and connect via ethernet. As each router has a different interface, I can’t give you precise instructions on how to do it. But to give you a hint, access the router settingsand look for Disable WiFi option under WiFi options/settings.

Eliminate bandwith hogs

If you want to play tmp using your WiFi, I would advise you to turn WiFi off on all the devices that are able to connect to the network. Another app or device using your network can make the ping surge as they will eat the required bandwidth. Turning off the WiFi is important as background processes in other devices may still eat up bandwidth. Secondly, exit all the apps on your PC and make sure no background apps are eating up the resources. In Windows, you can check the taskbar and the task manager ( Ctrl + Shift + Esc ) processes section to look for background processes.

Use a gaming VPN

Although a VPN usually slows the internet connection, but it can also help make the connection clean, if that’s the problem. There is a chance your ISP might be throttling your connection or rerouting you through congested networks. In that case, you can try a gaming VPN. I have personally never tried a gaming VPN as my connection seemed clean. However, many users have achieved up to 70% ping improvement using a gaming VPN. Unfortunately, there is no reliable free gaming VPN available right now. Although my recommendation would be VyprVPN, as it offers a free trial to confirm whether it will work for you or not, which makes it a safe choic.

Use PingEnhancer

A great little tool for Windows users. PingEnhancer basically makes few adjustments in Windows registry to increase the frequency of TCP packageacknowledgment that enhances ping a bit. Without going into the technical jargon, it forces the network to check every data packet transferred, i.e, increasing the connection accuracy. Although accuracy leads to better ping, but it may inversely affect the overall internet speed as more packets are needed to be scanned now.

1. Launch the tool and click on the Optimize button.

2. Next, restart the PC and your connection will be optimized.

In case you have recently started facing high ping or it happens occasionally, then it might be a problem with your network or PC configurations. Below are some fixes:

- perform a clean boot

- make sure pc and router are not overheating

- keep all the drivers up-to-date

- clean up your pc

- contact your ISP

If these methods didn’t work for you, then a reset may help you. Both PC and router are involved in keeping your ping normal, resetting both of them should fix any type of software related issue. However, do keep in mind that resetting PC and router will lead to deleting all the data in your PC and resetting your configurations in your router.

I understand , but for now i want to make the game run, i can fix the ping issues later once I'm in game and i can test how well it runs.

EDIT: I went through the logs, and this is apparently what happens with my game. This is the most recent client log:image.png.8fd8ac2986d397b7a3b677a5c801391a.png

And this is the chat log:

I don't know if this is helpful, hope it helps
