direct x9 or direct x11

hi guys i just change from direct x 9 to direct x 11 in my config files via notepad just like to know whats the benfits of this in euro truck if any cheers

Hey UK Truck Driver, 

There are many advantages of DX11 over the DX9. It is a graphics interface where newer versions such as the DX11  can help improve game experience through improved Framerates per second and less lag. However it is more CPU/GPU intensive, so a decent CPU/GPU will be needed.

Hello, Directx 9 runs better (performance wise) but doesn't look as good as DX 11.  DX 11 looks better but your pc gaming will take a small hit to it's performance.  There's no real huge difference between them to be honest.

 

I do have to add though that when SCS updates ATS and ETS2 to 1.36 they will both be using DX 11 (which means they are dropping DX 9)  of which mean you'll then have to have a graphics card that is capable of supporting DX 11.

If you're not sure if your graphics card supports DX11 then follow these steps:

 

In Windows, open the search/start bar and type dxdiag, then select it from the results. The window that pops up shows you your DirectX version.

 

The location of the two green arrows will tell you what DirectX version you have.  If you have the number 9 or 10 you will have to upgrade your graphics card.

This video should help show the performance differences.
However it may vary due to specs and the DX11 shown is on 1.36 while DX9 is on 1.35. But it's highly similar.

With the upcoming 1.36 version of  ETS2/ATS, which I expect to release on tuesday or wednesday (at least for ATS), both games will no longer be compatible with DX9.

So after TMP updates to support 1.36, you won't be able to play multiplayer on DX9 system.
