Ping Issue

Hey everyone I'm kind of new here I have been on ets2 for a year or 2 but not multiplayer I just started but am having some connection issues with your servers, I keep getting kicked for bad ping but I have checked my connection via speedtest.net and find my ping to be fairly good it says when it kicks me my ping is 654ms but on speedtest it shows I have a ping of 101ms I'm not too sure if it has something to do with distance as I'm in australia can someone please help me out and let me know if there is anything I can do as I really want to mix with people instead of ai, below is a screen shot of my connection stats on speedtest.

Ohh, I thought it was an old member. However this ping thing happens. It's whenever the server detects a ping of 600+ for even a millisecond. If your ping is fluctuating a lot, then this seems to happen a bit.

 

Downloads being turned off and stuff like that can help fix it.

I'm in australia I have tried every server, my ping never fluctuates it remains the same 24/7 it just seems weird and downloads are always off whenever im playing online

Does it happen often? Also the ping of 100, that seems a little low for an Australian. I'm usually 200-360. Try pressing Tab ingame and seeing if that ping fluctuates next to your name.

 

The ping test that you ran, was that against an Australian server or something in Europe?

Yea it happens pretty much within 2 minutes of connecting then goes to offline mode, yea I'm sure it is a server in australia it's tested against speedtest.net is worldwide it picks the server suited to your location

Yeah, well try the TAB button when you're ingame and driving. Check to see fluctuations in that. Also, try a speed test or a ping test against something in say Paris, France or Warsaw, Poland.

Maybe contact your internet provider, your internet seems pretty unstable.

TruCkDr1V3r, that's just normal for Australians. Some days are worse than others but it also changes depending on background applications and area that you live in. For example, the more rural you live, the worse your internet, particularly when you're internet is wireless.

Remember your Ping is how long it takes for your packets to talk with the server. Doing a speed test will get you a decent idea if you can find out where the servers are hosted but not going to actually tell you the ping you will get in game.

The Speed test ping is pinging an Australian server so it will be lower. Connecting to a EU or US game server will result in a much higher ping. Actually 100 Ping from an AUS server is pretty bad since you live there. Run a test on http://www.pingtest.net/and find out if you have any jitter or packet loss. If you're in the EU server your ping should only be about 330, I'm from NZ and that's what I get in the server.

I have done ping test and everything seems ok no packet loss ping on a eu server was 320 didn't fluctuate and jitter was only 2ms

well not with ping test haven't gone into mp im about to hopefully everything is all good as it is im on adsl 2 + with a 21mbps connection it all runs fast and my other online gaming I have no problems such as assetto corsa or rfactor 2 just this

Hi,I've just done a ping test and got "ping = 56ms from poland  ( i'm in uk ) ,line quality B*. packet data unavailable.I'll give ets2mp a go later .
