They made the cars for the GMs to use as police patrols on the roads. But people started asking for them to be released so anyone could use them. So when cars were released, they were available to every player who wanted to use them, with certain restrictions (police paintjob, beacons, accesories, could only be used by TMP staff). The excuse was that cars could be used for convoy escort duties. But they became trolls' weapon of choice. Currently, cars can be used to do jobs, by hauling caravans. Or as convoy escort vehicles, or simply to explore the map driving something other than a truck if you want a bit of a change.

You think that cars are a bad thing now, with 110 Km/h limit? Imagine back then, when they could do 250+ Km/h...

I'm not 100% sure why the cars have been added but remember they're on single player and there's not just cars in single player either.  Anyway....when non-trolling people use them it's a nice view to see as it adds variety other than seeing truck after truck time and time again.

As for the same car ramming you twice you can report them in-game by using the tab menu screen and clicking on the persons name and then report.  Also there is the option of doing a web report where you can do that here: https://truckersmp.com/reports

^ For the time I've spent here so far any issues I've had on the road regarding cars totally outweighs those regarding trucks.

This subject has been brought up many, many times before, and I can see your concern. However, as far as I know, cars had been added to add some variety to the world, instead of only being able to drive a truck.

When you get rammed by a car, it's best to either go to a spot on the map where not too many people go, or just leave the server and join one without cars.

The newly launched Arcade servers could also help against damage on your loads, as the whole server is NCZ, like the old EU4 server used to be.

I personally don't have a problem with cars, and don't see why this topic has to be brought up again and again.

The subject on the Scout keeps coming up because of the following.

1. People completely blow the problem of cars way out of proportion

2. Some people are deluded enough to believe that removing the cars would somehow solve the problem of trolls, without thinking that they'll just go back to using trucks, which are comparatively worse.

I won't deny that cars are often used by trolls as a weapon, but removing the car is the same as game DRM; it only harms the people who use it legitimately. Remove the cars and all that will happen is the troll will simply go back to using a truck, which is worse because they can then hook up a trailer and start blocking entire roads with it.

Totally agree with you except the speed limit. Yes, they stuck at 110 km/h but the acceleration time is lower than trucks. A sudden acceleration thing is a good weapon for trolls.

Indeed.

It's a shame that cars are trying to ram trucks, but luckily there are GMs. Of course you can always record your screen so that you have video material if you are rammed.

In fact there is an additional problem with cars in ETS moreover than trolls, because many people simply can't handle cars, so that they partly crash into the next border every 20 meters or aren't capale of choosing their gear correctly, so that you are in danger of getting headaches because of the dreadful motor sounds xD

In my eyes, cars are used for admins and idiots and some people that want to RP.

The admin cars are good for like the Real Opperation event that comes to TMP in the year or helping with convoy's.

The car where idiots drive are mostely cars that stand out alot like really bright blue or hot pink.

The cars that people drive when they want to rp or mostely a standard color u see daily. They will not wreck or if they do they will say sorry.

I believe they were actually added for admins but then was able to use by the public.

I personally don't use the car but it's a change from driving trucks all day!

In my opinion, I think the car should be unlocked for being a year on TMP. As I realise a lot of trolls in cars are new players (Maybe it's on accident as they never drove a car in-game and they're having fun with it. Or they are trolls) cause accidents with cars.

The cars  I would recommend to only admin and mods of tmp.  I have gotten to a stage whenever I see a car TROLL ALERT SIRENS go off in my head.  I was  on tmp last night and a player was driving a car doing just fine.  Then all of a sudden he spun out of control at a junction getting on to a moterway the cars are like black ice vehicles.  If cars are so popular tmp should make a single car server unless you are a pilot for a convory then you would need to email tmp to get access.  e.g. if you use a car on a particaler truck server the system will kick you. unless you email tmp telling them about a truck convoy with your player number for such and such a date that you will be the pilot driver,  or for specified events,  or if you are a VTC cars will automatically be approved

I'm not sure why there are cars, but to add another argument, what kind of simulator would it be without them? Simulation means to simulate, so I guess the cars are to simulate regular traffic along side trucks.... least that what I think.

In that case then buses/coaches, vans and other general vehicles should be added then if you're wanting to simulate regular traffic.  To which it'll probably (not saying never) not be added due to server strain and cases of extreme lag and/or fps issues.

SCS have stated themselves that they're working on a bus/coach DLC just that it's not a high priority for their team.  One can hope though that if/when it gets added that TMP will accomodate it to further the realisim of driving around Europe.

think most of us think the same

it's a shame that these cars got added. but it seems like they don't go anywhere anytime soon.

best you can do is go as far as possible from any busy area and try to avoid them.

sadly there are people who think it's fun to ruin other people's day by doing this. just try to ignore them and report them ingame and/or on the site.

only thing we can do is keep reporting them and try to get rid of the bad apples are much as possible. but so far. no luck we gotta keep going.
