Road to Simulation

Hello Truckers,

Today marks quite a special day for TruckersMP. We have only recently launched support for 1.35 and we have are now also announcing a few monumental changes to help make us the best possible multiplayer modification. That means that we are now focused on what the original ETS2MP project set out to do… To enhance trucking simulation as we know it.

As you are already aware, we are known for our large player base but with this, it is also known that simulation has sadly moved to the side and trolls take up a percentage of that player base. With the changes that we are announcing here, this hopefully should now change.

We have decided that we want to put a greater emphasis on the simulation side of things and really bring the game and mod back to the roots of creating a simulation or arcade environment for all of our players to choose from.

With this being said, we have decided to launch 2 different types of gameplay across our server network. These 2 game modes are simply called “Arcade” and “Simulation” but they are very different.

What are the differences between the 2 styles of servers?

If you choose to play on an Arcade server… You will notice the following:

  • Your name will show as “< Your Name> (A < ServerID >)”. For example: Wheezy (A 756).

  • The speed limiter will be inactive so that means that you will be able to go any speed that you like.

  • Collisions will be inactive so the server will be fully non-collision and you will be able to drive through other players without causing a collision.

  • The command /fix does not have a cooldown so if you crash, you can use the command without having to wait for the commands cooldown timer to reset.

  • You will be able to use the Scout car provided by TruckersMP on these servers.

  •

If you choose to play on a Simulation server… You will notice the following:

  • Your name will show the same as it has been in the past. < Your Name> (< Server ID>). For example: Wheezy (756).

  • For ETS2, the speed limiter will remain active however will be the same as EU#1 currently (110km/h / 68mph). On the other hand, for ATS, this will be 130km/h (80mph) as there is no dedicated arcade server. We have made this decision as we feel that 110km/h is more suitable for generating the trucking environment.

  • Collisions will remain active for the server and the only zones that will be NCZ are the same as they currently are (depots, ports etc).

  • The command /fix does have a cooldown that will remain the same time as what it currently is (600 seconds from spawn and previous use).

  • For the time being, you will be able to use the Scout car provided by TruckersMP on these servers however this is on a trial basis. More information on the results of this trial will be provided at a later date once completed.

You will also have noticed that these changes have gone LIVE and we have also changed the name of all of our servers to abide with what has been mentioned above. Our new server layout is as follows:

Euro Truck Simulator 2 TMP servers:

Simulation 1: 4200 slots

Simulation 2: 2300 slots

Arcade 1: 2300 slots

Arcade 2: 2300 slots.

American Truck Simulator TMP servers:

Simulation: 1500 slots

US Simulation: 1500 slots.

Does that mean I can’t get banned if I play on an Arcade server?

No. Arcade servers are non-collision, so driving-related rules are not applied. However, there are still some rules that you must follow whilst playing on the network. They are as follows:

  • §1.3 - Spamming or Abuse

  • §1.5 - Inappropriate use of language, communication and impersonation of any kind

  • §1.6 - Law and piracy (sharing of links in-game chat)

  • §1.7 - Backseat moderation

  • §1.8 - Incitement

  • §2.1 - Hacking/Bug/Feature abusing

  • §3 - Save editing rules except §3.3 - Floating and clipping parts

For the full list of rules, in more detail, please see https://truckersmp.com/rules

We have also decided to rebalance the save editing rules in tandem to the main simulation updates. In the past, the save editing rules have become confusing, but have also allowed things which go completely against simulation. While many save edited trucks are unlikely to exist in real life, they are physically possible, unlike some other save edits.

What are the major changes?

  • Parts which float away from the vehicle are not permitted, example; floating cargo models, even if only part of the model is floating, are no longer allowed.

  • Parts which clip into each other are not permitted, example; cargo models which majorly clip into the trailer(s) or truck cab are no longer allowed. Minor clipping between parts on hybrid trucks is permitted.

  • Only default trailer combinations are allowed, trailer type does not matter, example; triples are no longer allowed in ETS2

  • Double or triple trailers must not be longer than the largest default combination; for ATS, the "turnpike double", for ETS2, the "HCT"

  • Duplicate parts are now permitted, however abusing this by adding an excessive amount is not allowed (see below)

  • Mods found to be affecting other players in any significant way, for example, lag caused by a large number of duplicate parts is not allowed - if you are banned for using a mod that causes issues, your ban will only be lifted once the parts have been removed.

For the full list of rules, in more detail, please see https://truckersmp.com/rules

We do hope that you agree with the simulation changes and also the save editing changes, however for whatever reason you do not agree, please send in a feedback ticket to the Game Moderation Management or Project Management and the dedicated team members will reply as soon as they can.

This is only one of the first steps that we are taking to improve the modification! More to come later on down the line. We would like to thank you for your loyalty towards the modification and for being a part of an amazing, awesome and unique community.

Happy Trucking!

TruckersMP Team

I personally don't agree with the Arcade servers having no collisions. Once again, this is another thing that I feel should be voted upon by the community rather than changed with absolutely no regard to what the community wants to see.

There are people who do want things like this, but I don't believe this is a good direction for TMP.

Or take 1 server with and one without collisions?

@TeamDeer

What are you talking about?

This was a very sudden change.

The TMP team might have wanted it, but this mod isn't just for the TMP team. The entire community should have a say in this, not just staff.

And just because the TMP team have been talking about it doesn't mean almost any of the rest of the community knows about that. Most chats about this stuff tend to be kept way too private from the community.

Yes I see "Mr.Admin Man", delete your posts (or get them deleted) and hide from the fact that the TMP Team doesn't listen to the community. Pretty unprofessional and even somewhat childish.

Just now, TheDuckThatFloats said:

oh boy here we go with people trying to overtake at 110kmh max. not to mention skodas... just another update that blocks people having fun. whatever you do, you cant force trollers to obey the rules. they will still be a troll. so why block us having fun? first of all admins should become more active. everyday i just spectate duisburg, calais and there are all the time accidents, trollers and list goes on. i have seen a place full of traffic for almost 2 hours and there were no active in there.

the thing im trying to say is before forcing players, you should force your staff to do their jobs more frequently. not just admins but everyone have their own lifes. one can be more active than other. maybe force a rule of fulfilling a spesific amount of time for admins in game?

This game is about driving trucks, if you want to speed. Go play need for speed or whatever, this is called a simulation game for a reason. The fact that you complain about staff work is funny, because you dont have a single clue how much work is done behind. You only see the top of the iceberg and yet you are already judging.

Perhaps, and I do see where you are coming from. However, majority of the community has lost touch with the original intent of the mod. A community voting session would result in disaster.

The change is for the best as this is a simulation change but it really does encompass both types of players of the game. The ones that want to race around and treat this as "just a game" and the ones that like sim driving and enjoying the trucking world.

Just by saying that you're essentially telling me, and everyone else that the TMP Team have absolutely no care about what the community has to say. Either you do care, or you don't. There's no middle ground.

This update, in no way encompasses both "types" of players of the game. Theres more than just two "types". Every single person in the world will treat this game/simulator differently. What you should doing if you want to encompass all of the players is to make a personal server for every single person!

The problem isn't that people drive quickly either. The problem is that people drive recklessly.

A community with no say isn't a community. That's an Oligarchy.

EDIT: @TeamDeer You can't delete your message from someone else quoting it, just saying. If that's not what you intended to say, deleting your message doesn't change anything. If you want to be professional about it, and not prove the point that TMP doesn't even bother to listen, don't delete your message.

Guys, you're of course allowed to discuss this, but please remember these lines from Wheezy:

If you do not like the changes, please rather use the feedback system and explain yourselves there rather than ranting here!

Sounds great! I'd like to see how this goes! Maybe it reduces trolles, maybe not but changes sounds good still!

you dont need to tell me stories, many players of tmp know the truth. if you force people to drive at 110kmh, it is not going to prevent people speeding. also dont make false accusations. i dont drive fast. well this may be an example of how staff members behave toward players. also please read my edited reply

and the thing is staff are missing so many things. im not only talking about speeding, im talking about how they would expect players to obey rules and drive peacefuly while staff dont monitor the game enough. it is just an bad excuse to say what work is done. it is certain that players play the game more than staff members. hell i have seen once an admin kicking a guy that was noclipping people. he was reported many times, yet admin kicked him while he was noclipping.

if you are a government that wants citizens votes, firstly you should make your government members teach citizens how to live peaceful and help the community.

Simulation up to 110km/h :lol::lol:What a joke. Useless update. You have to start doing job ingame, someone has to enforce rules, if not you, who then? Translators? Devs?
