Truckers MP and coast to coast on a partnership on a potential server

Is there a way that truckersMp can add coast to coast for American truck simulator in their own server or certain mod maps for American truck simulator or Euro truck simulator that will be a nice idea to team up with certain groups to make truckers MP that much better is this something that can be in the works or not

I believe that the larger the map, them more server space TruckersMP would need which means additional costs.

Generally, we don't add 3rd party mods except for aesthetic ones, this is because map mods bring a whole lot of different issues that we necessarily can't handle. Mods that affect the truck are also generally not accepted since they can have unexpected consequences similar to what we see with save file editing (parts in locations where SCS didn't intend causing crashes, etc.).

 

Modifications generally slow down the process of updating the TruckersMP Client to latest SCS Game version after an update. Whenever there is an update to the game, the mod most likely needs work to be done, which can take some time to port over to new version, this is one of the reasons behind not having mods. 

 

The major blocker is the distribution of mods, the larger the mod, the harder it is to distribute. P2p would be an "easy" way, though it still requires infrastructure, in distributing the winter mod, we recently had support from 10gbps.io, even then we pinned a 10Gb port for hours on end, imagine that we'd need that kind of beef every time we updated the mod. Even if we'd get the tail to come quicker, the initial seed is necessary. Add to that, you have to provide a backup since many networks disallow p2p traffic.

 

We could put the mod behind a paywall, but this is something we rather not, we believe that this mod should be freely available to anyone, with the only requirement being a purchase of either ETS2 or ATS.

That’s understandable that was just something I was wondering because I have over 100 drivers that I dispatch in my VTC  and we had a big Q&A discussion about this last night I have a Lotta drivers That means more Room to drive And we was thinking that might be something in the works and is that the same thing For Promods to

Probably like £100,000 ( that's for processing power, software & hardware that can handle the load ). EU2 costs thousands & is more powerful than its 3 sisters, yet it still struggles! Basically to run like EU2 & support map etc mods your talking about buying a large family car i.e an Audi RS6 Avant or a MB E63 AMG Black!

I don't know exactly what server options they use, or if they have contacted the company for more personalized servers.

This is my best guess for one of the servers: https://www.ovh.com/world/dedicated-servers/infra/1801eg03.xml

I also don't know if they run multiple servers on one.

I think ATS is way too unpopulated to have any map mods. You can barely find anyone on the roads because the servers peak count is usually only 300-400 players. Small map mods like US Expansion are fine because it just adds a few more cities in the base map but even then truckersmp doesn't even plan to have mods.

While it would be cool to have the entirety of america to drive with friends, i agree with dragon. Theres not really enough players to even think about get C2C or really any other big map mods for that matter.

SCS will create the map, MP will update it. That is how we will get "Coast to Coast."
