Question

So today i was driving on a one lane on each side road. the other lane didnt have anyone so it felt safe to overtake the guy infront of me. as i was doing that, he ran into me and blocked the way so i cant overtake him. though i managed to overtake him by fighting him a little bit. my question is, who is right in this kind of situation?

Hello,

There is no rule against overtaking. However, if you were overtaking in a congested area such as the Calais-Duisburg area, this is something that could have actions taken against you for. Overtaking in busy areas causes issues and causes people to get banned or kicked depending on the case.

However, if you overtaking this player in another area of the map less congested, you have done nothing wrong based on the explanation you have provided us with, in your help topic you created. Players interfering with other players making a safe overtake can be banned for numerous reasons, blocking one's path (blocking), reckless driving and much more. If you happen to have this situation recorded as a video, I would encourage you to take the following actions against this player.

1. Go to https://truckersmp.com/reports

2. Fill in the required information

3. Send the report

4. Wait for an administrator to handle the report.

This is the only thing you can do to make sure this situation doesn't happen again. If your evidence is valid, the responsible Game moderator will proceed with banning the player for the number of days they deem necessary.

I hope this answers your question, please let us know. I will remain at your disposition if you wish o contact me on the forums via DM or right on this topic! Thanks.

Sincerely,

-ccowie

There is no reason to intentionally block someone from overtaking

But if he is blocking the way from you overtaking I don't see how it would be a good idea to keep trying to overtake

By the rules, he is more at fault, but if by fighting you mean hitting them with your truck, then you're at risk of being banned

Well, if he did it on purpose and nobody else was there other than the two of you, then I‘d say it was him breaking the rules.

However, I do not see a reason to overtake someone on a road with just one lane on each side. What about curves, constructions, road grades or unseen incoming traffic or other dangers? Because I haven‘t seen a truck overtaking another truck on such road IRL and I am glad.

For me, it seems like he was just trolling you since you were about to overtake him just because you were faster than him.

You were in the right.. Overtaking only really becomes banable when an accident is caused.

The person who blocked you has actually broken the rules by doing what he did. If you have footage of the incident I would recomend reporting the user at https://truckersmp.com/reports

If you fell safe to overtake while no vehicles are oncoming then i don't think there is a rule for that so its fine, if they did it as a troll then report them with Proof they did something wrong, Every time i play TMP ETS2 or ATS i always record so if something goes wrong then i can offline report with there TMP ID and Video proof that they did something wrong.

Well, at first im just a player.

But the scenario you described would be bannable for both of you.

This is reckless and worth a ban, as he caused the collision. Overtaking itself isnt forbidden, however i dont recommend overtaking in high traffic area (like CD-Road), as if you have oppsite traffic and you cant overtake in time and cause an accident, it would be your fault.

well, if you fight him, you also cause a collsion, which makes it bannable for yourself, too,.

What you just described is a situation of reckless driving.
The other driver intentionally rammed you and blocked your way which is a clear violation of the in-game rules.
If you have video proof of this incident, I suggest to report the perpetrator.

Be careful though - "fighting him a little bit" can be used against you, too. If the other driver has video proof adn depending on how things happened, he could try to cut his footage so it looks like that you tried to ram him after overtaking.
