Frequently suggested things

This is a short list of things that people frequently suggest that are either planned or rejected.

32 Bit support:
This will not happen, 32 bit accounts for less than 8% of the Steam user base, and maintaining a 3rd platform that is being superseded just doesn't make sense. Instead of requesting this or donating for us to support it, put that money towards a new 64-bit capable computer (though a lot of systems sold after 2005 are 64 bit capable, you just need to switch to a 64 bit OS).

Linux support:
This is relatively often suggested, it's kind of planned but won't come anytime soon, this is due to the frequency of patches from SCS that makes this infeasible to maintain multiple versions of the mod.

OS X support:
See Linux support

Add mod *:
Generally, we don't add 3rd party mods except for aesthetic ones, this is because map mods bring a whole lot of different issues that we necessarily can't handle. Mods that affect the truck are also generally not accepted since they can have unexpected consequences similar to what we see with save file editing (parts in locations where SCS didn't intend causing crashes, etc.).

Modifications generally slow down the process of updating the TruckersMP Client to the latest SCS Game version after an update. Whenever there is an update to the game, the mod most likely needs work to be done, which can take some time to port over to the new version, this is one of the reasons behind not having mods.

The major blocker is the distribution of mods, the larger the mod, the harder it is to distribute. P2p would be an "easy" way, though it still requires infrastructure, in distributing the winter mod, we recently had support from 10gbps.io, even then we pinned a 10Gb port for hours on end, imagine that we'd need that kind of beef every time we updated the mod. Even if we'd get the tail to come quicker, the initial seed is necessary. Add to that, you have to provide a backup since many networks disallow p2p traffic.

We could put the mod behind a paywall, but this is something we rather not, we believe that this mod should be freely available to anyone, with the only requirement being a purchase of either ETS2 or ATS.

More slots on the server:
This is something many people complain about, and we hear ya, we want it too, there's an issue we've not yet been able to nail down. We will increase the limit the moment we can. Increasing the slots is not as easy as just changing the number, it requires server power which costs money, to minimise the lag and high ping with higher amounts of players.

More features for our VTC panel:
We're planning to add more features, but other things need to be in place first. We hope to bring new features to you very soon.

Change speed limiter to */Turn off speed limiter:
The speed limit on our Simulation server is set to 110km/h. In real life, you are not allowed to drive faster than 105km/h in any European country. We do not plan to change that any time soon. If you would like to drive without any speed limit play on our Arcade servers, please. You can find a more detailed explanation here.

Add server in region *:

Give us a proper reason why we should do this. Adding a new server in a certain region without anyone playing on it is pointless. You'll have to convince us.

Make all servers into one big one:
Maybe, but for the time being, unlikely, latency around the globe vary a lot and makes this incredibly difficult to do without causing more issues.

Private servers:
No, the intent of the mod is MMO, if people get to set up their own servers, the player base will likely be spread out thinner and the map will be even more empty.

Add company skins/accessories in-game:
If we were to add every VTC's skin, the download would be quite big, it would also have to be maintained over a long period of time and would add complexities to the testing process. We do plan to see such a feature in the future but the way it could be implemented is still something we need to figure out.

Also with the new update of Euro Truck Simulator 2 / American Truck Simulator, 1.38 a RGB Color Picker will be added to TruckersMP.

Allow all players to use the police car:

No. This is only done on rare occasions but will not be done on request.

Remapping the keys:

This is planned but not a high priority at the moment. The system would need to ensure that a button is free to use, so that it can be assigned to, for example, the chat. If a user has changed their buttons from default, the system would need to detect that and allow for the chat to still be assigned.

Changes to the ban system:

Those are planned.

In addition to the above-mentioned things, the following ideas were already proposed:

  • Ability to scroll in the chat
  • Adding certain chat channels for companies, etc.
  • Sync random events
  • Sync weather
  • Ability to see who reported you and when
  • Adding new vehicles for all users/staff members
  • Creating private servers
  • Adding AI traffic to servers
  • VR support
  • Special Transport DLC in MP
  • Ability to customize the Scout/caravan
  • Make huge edits to a city (Duisburg/Calais)
  • Filter options for the in-game chat
  • Make fuel stations non collision zoned
  • Close/remove the Calais/Duisburg road
  • Close/remove the Kirkenes road
  • Create the ability to make screenshots while driving
  • Edit the /fix command
  • Temporarily permission for the event organizators
  • Vote to kick players
  • Group related "only" server

Those are commonly suggested and requested ideas. If you want to suggest any of these ideas, do keep in mind that it could be rejected as it gets suggested a lot and could have already been suggested by someone else.
