Real Operations 24 February 2019

This was by far the ABSOLUTE WORST EVENT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED.

I understand that in real life, if an accident occurs that it cannot be removed immediately, nor can it be moved somewhere else, but certainly you could’ve removed it after an hour or so.  Because bottlenecks and traffic controllers thin out traffic, the rest of the map was deserted, as may people were starting in the Netherlands to catch the ferry out of Eurooport (if Imujden had ferries to Hull this wouldn’tve been an issue).

I started in Bremen, drove to Amsterdam (via Osnabruck), sat in traffic for 80 minutes, and then the roads in the UK were emptier than on South American servers.  There were very few “operations” that I came across in the entirety of my drive, and I gave up in Birmingham.  I could’ve driven the entirety of the Calais-Duisburg road round trip and have time left over in the amount of time I sat in this traffic.  I figured once I got into the UK that everything would be better, but it just sucked more than the traffic jam.  I understand that you guys put out a warning that there was heavy traffic, but the way it was worded made it seem like it wasn’t as big of a deal as it turned out to be.  Maybe a warning like “AVOID EUROPOORT HEAVY DELAYS” would’ve been better than “TRAFFIC COMING FROM GRONIGEN NEED TO USE THE A9 TOO!”  Like I said, I wasn’t coming from Gronigen, I was coming from Osnabruck!!!!!!

In my three years of playing TruckersMP, this was the very first Real Ops event that I attended, and I’m saltier than seawater; salty to the point where I don’t want to go to another Real Ops.  But I probably will, because I stream and I need content!

Below is a flashback to the agony I sat in for 80 entire minutes of my life.  This is not to advertise my channel, and I don’t care if you never watch another one of my videos again.  I just want the naive TruckersMP staff to see what it was really like to sit in the traffic jam.

It is the first time I attended this type of event, in previous editions because of my work it was impossible for me to be present and I missed a lot, eh!

I loved everything, the accidents, the deviations and the extreme traffic with kilometers of trucks in the area of Amsterdam and Rotterdam! Hahahahaha ... I really look forward to the next edition of this wonderful event.

I share a video of my trip, which I had the pleasure of doing in the company of my father (retired truck driver whose favorite pastime is exploring the roads of ATS / ETS2). Greetings from Monterrey, México! :)

This was my first Real Operations & overall I was disappointed. Mostly the roads were deserted, then you'd sit in half an hour to an hour of massive tailback, then you'd be spat out, then you might come across some admin blockage which you just steer round & resume as if nothing happened. This event could be so much more, like random events but MP-style - more action across more of the map. I could have earned more money & done more discovery doing normal kmage. At least I had a smooth quiet responsive Nardo Grey XF106 530 Allison to roam around in!

Fantastic event, I had great fun going around the full route.

I was lucky on my choice of route! I went through Europoort at the start of the event when there wasn't too much traffic and did the UK part of the route. On my way back through the Netherlands I had a good laugh watching the neverending line of trucks from Europoort all the way to Amsterdam and beyond!

Honestly I think the accident at Europoort only worsened things. I can't imagine many people managed to wait through that queue which spanned actual kilometers.

Apart from that I also loved the custom assets like the steam train special cargo, the escort vans, ambulances and fire trucks. I look forward to see them used elsewhere outside the event too!

Thanks a lot Digital and the whole team!

Although I was banned wrongly :( through an admin I wanna say that it was so much fun and perfect organized. I really wish that I could have been there until the end but that's how the game is played... idiots are overtaking from the service lane, I'm driving on the right that police can come through and I get banned for it. For all: just notice one rule: When someone is ramming you to the side trying to pull in front of you or trying to overtake you with ramming, you have to give him way otherwise you get banned!

But all in all I never had so much fun standing in traffic jam! Thank you Truckersmp <3.

There are just 2 things I would suggest for the next event:

1) Speed limit 90.

2) Kick people faster who are missbehaving (I saw about 20 people who drove reckless and nothing happened).

With a big thank you and looking forward to the next event,

Albeit players rate such an even quite high, in general majority praise it. I am in no way impressed of what I've seen in my 20 minutes spying around the map using the free camera (Osnabruck-Amsterdam-Rotterdam)

Simulation?

To some extent. Traffic jams the rest of the time.

Scenarios?

None I've noticed escorted on the given route for the time I was there.

Technical issues?

Sh*tload of server instabilities. Couple specific for the mod for years.

In conclusion, an event that went slightly better in the EU2 variation. I thought at least we could drive the escort vans and help those in need of an escort towards a given destination (if we didn't have the Special Cargo pack). Be of an use in some way. No sign of that even in the dealerships (checked it once I entered, no escort vans to buy). Nice PR stunt nonetheless.
