Slow1357
I was just searching for casual games on the Play Store when suddenly I got this app called "Vortex Cloud Gaming" on recommendation. It claims that you can use their tech to play high-end PC games on your browser/mobile phone. I was skeptical at first, but after a bit of research, I believe it's actually a thing. It's basically like they have powerful servers with a bunch of games installed. Users are given access through the cloud and stream the game they play as a video file (i.e., like you're watching a YouTube video that you can control). There should be no lag at all (they promise smooth 60FPS at 1080p) as long as you have a 4mbps connection or faster. Super interesting, right? Vortex claims that there can be as low as ~30ms latency between the server and you (client), which I think is amazing if it's true. Now I haven't really tried it yet and I was wondering whether any of you guys have any experience with it? Full-Stack Web Developer
MajorKowallsky
I have never tried it, but I cannot imagine playing a game optimised for a bigger screen on my 5" screen. There are too many things that may be missed, cannot imagine playing CS:Go on my mobile for example, details would be just not enogh visible. Adding to that, I am not happy with the way steam in-home streaming works, had issues with latency and losing quality even though I have a 25mbps connection, so I don't think the Vortex thing will work way better however I would like to be surprised. Chev
This is a very interesting concept; input lag would definitely be something to think about and so would internet lag as stated above. I have extreme doubts that this works smoothly, but it would be very interesting to see if it does actually work as advertised. Have a question? Feel free to message me. twix bar
Take a look at GeForce Now, you currently don't have to pay for it, but you need to request beta access.
CoNnEcT955
this has been going on pretty much from when twitch became popular, all those small/medium size companies trying to make their own streamer platform and be the new youtube/twitch, but i haven't actually as of yet heard for any company actually succeeding. but if someone did, please do let me/us know
