OwenTheMan7
I was Driving Going on the on-ramp to get Nogales and 2 NPCs were in the middle of the road. This isn't the first time I have encountered this (i encountered this 3 times now) The last 2 times I hit them and totalled my truck I am posting this to see if this has happened to anyone else
Dziada
This is a random road event. Since AI cars are disabled in MP, you sometimes only see pedestrians. Whereas normally, for example, you would see two or more cars, where the oil spills are on the road.
OwenTheMan7
oh I see it can get annoying when you hit them
Dziada
That's why I have them turned off in ETS2, but not in ATS. There's almost always enough space and time to either go around them, or slow down, since not that many people drive in ATS.
StJimmy1232
These events can be turned off in your gameplay settings. Look for "random road events" and adjust the slider all the way to the left.

Encrypted_
Personally, I have random road events disabled, due to it being a hazard to other road users. "one day you'll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember"
Andreea RO
Hello! This happens when you have the events turned on even a little bit. It happened to me to even hit an invisible wall. So yeah, it's because of the events.
JJay
I turned off random road events so I don't need to worry about people or my truck while driving. Guest
As others have mentioned it is due to random road events and detours. The feature itself is interesting and brings a different element to the game. With that being said I would do what @Encrypted™ mentioned and disable them as it has potential to be a hazard to you on the road. If you want to explore what it truly looks like my suggestion would be to have two game profiles. One for TMP use and one for single player / mods. This way you won't have to worry about unsafe lane change(s) and ramming someone off the road.
DJWinstonTFM
I turned them off as well so I don't need to worry about it especially it gets annoying sometime. DJWinstonTFM Live every Saturday at 4PM UK/11AM EDT @ TruckersFM
