[VIVΛ HH] KЯΛVΛTIΞ
Notes The first 2 hours of the stream included some interviews with SCS employees from different departments (map design, animation etc.). Not too much to discuss here. The Baltic DLC was worked on for over a year, so it is likely that the next DLC is being worked on as we speak. Update: SCS are working on more than one expansion at the moment! The border checkpoints along the Russian border may be changed up a bit in the future. At the moment, they are a "bit simple". Depending on player feedback, the checkpoints may be altered. There are 3-4 different areas where the next DLC could be, but SCS won't say where they are (of course). The rest of Russia is likely to be coming within a few years. Research is being carried out and the map team is excited to work on it. Pavel confirmed that another piece of Russia will not be the next DLC, but a Russian expansion is coming. North Scandinavia and the northern part of Finland will not be coming in the very near future. However; when SCS revisits older map expansions, the countries may be expanded then. Some parts of the map are already being reworked - Germany, for example. SCS don't want to make commitments now as they may come back and bite them. Old company prefabs may be updated in the future. For example, animated company gates may be added to older parts of the map. There may be some big changes coming to the AI traffic. But SCS can't say much until they are fairly certain that the changes will make it into the game. Detours, similar to those in the ATS 1.33 Open Beta, will eventually make their way to Euro Truck. More wildlife (moose, hawks etc.) will be coming to the game to make the world feel more "alive". There may be some updates to pedestrians in the game. For example, they may wave at the player, use umbrellas when it's raining, cross roads at crossings and walk with pets. After the release of the DLC, there was an interview the SCS CEO, Pavel! There are 6 or 7 more regions which SCS will visit. Then, over time they will go back and polish up older parts of the map. SCS managed to land a deal with Steam for a Publisher Weekend. Most, if not all, of SCS' games and DLCs are on sale once again! A majority of the base map will be refreshed and reworked, even 3-5 years from now. The World of Trucks team has been working on it for the best part of 5 years now. 2019 should finally be the year where World of Trucks really takes off. There's a Christmas WOT event coming up in a few weeks! SCS would like to carry out more events in both ETS2 & ATS and they are considering setting up an Events Team within their offices so that the main departments are not distracted by the events. The new MAN Euro 6 truck was delayed due to a lack of information on 6x4 configurations. Pavel confirmed that the new MAN will be arriving within a few months and that there will be more information regarding vehicles in 2019. The Renault Range T is still stuck in an approval process, but SCS finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. They are hopeful for 2019. SCS would like to introduce Kamaz trucks if they expand further into Russia. Again, SCS would like to reach their goal of official multiplayer with VTCs etc. all in one big package. No timeline yet. The Special Transport DLC will be updated with new routes in the Baltic region as well as the base game. SCS would like to have smaller, driveable vehicles such as cars in their world. It's just another dream for now. Mirrland
So, the next map DLC isn’t either Iberia (Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar) as stated in the previous livestream or Northern Scandinavia as stated here. Any predictions on the next map DLC then? I think it’s either one of the following: The Balkans (Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania and Slovenia). A complete revision of the British Isles (UK, including: Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. And the Republic of Ireland. Possibly adding the crown dependencies (Isle of Man and Jersey). It is possible that the might go down the route of adding Ukraine and Belarus but, I heavily doubt it, given the extreme diplomatic situation in Crimea. What do you guys think? NickThe0ne
Some very interesting notes, thank you for taking the time to write this down. Dziada
@Mirrland I reckon it's going to be the Balkans. SCS quite a few streams ago, on their first steam stream, mentioned that their next DLC will be even bigger than the Baltics. Therefore it is only logical to presume Balkans. Also for the UK, wouldn't it be part of the 'revisited map'? Like Germany was in 1.
Rene Sneipa [GER]
ETS2 updates also in 5 years. Then the game is 11 years old. That is really old for a computer game. I'm curious what the future will bring
Mirrland
Depends on SCS, @Dziada. France was also already in the map to begin with and yet it had a DLC. The UK map is the oldest part of the entire ETS2 Map having not received a proper update since the patch over from ETS1. Interstate Nomad
Thanks for sharing the content of the Livestream. Very interesting! I am torn between excitement and disappointment. Excited, because the MAN will likely arrive within a few months. Disappointed, because SCS focus will apparently stay on East Europe for a while. But all in all thankful that they continue their dedicated work.
Zulnex
Thank you for sharing the Livestream notes. I am particularly interested in Kamaz trucks and the future of World of Trucks.
FernandoCR [ESP]
Thanks a lot for taking the time to let us know about this. Like many others, I usually don't pay attention to these streams so it's nice to have someone who provides a summary on the forums. About the notes, it's nice to see that they are on the works and thinking about expanding the team to be more agile with updates/new features. A bit sad about Spain+Portugal DLC not coming next (or so it appears), but new trucks, changes to the current maps, even the thing about pedestrians, it sounds awesome !! I'd like to see pedestrians crossing at all traffic lights (at least inside cities) so people would actually need to stop. But those pedestrians would need to be made like 50 tons iron blocks, because there would be people () who instead of braking, would accelerate to run them over...
