Issue with trying to reconnect after disconnect.

Plagueraver

Question

Like the title says I am having issues trying to reconnect after disconnects.

This started about 1 1/2 weeks ago never happened to me before randomly I get disconnected no problems but quite often lately it does not reconnect me like normal instead I keep getting errors saying an account with this steam id is already in use.

I have never had multiple accounts I have reset and added 2fa to my steam account as a precaution and it happened to me more frequently today than it has before.

Usually its 1 or 2 disconnects at random intervals then the steam id in use message but today it happened almost 5 or 6 times back to back.

I never have and never will share my account period and this is starting to get on my last nerve.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would be appreciated greatly thanks!

Plague.

Most likely the server has not "given up" on your connection yet, even though your client is trying to initialize a new connection.

When it happens, how much time passes between when players near you stop moving, and when your game tries to reconnect? In addition, how long between your client saying you're disconnected, and it trying to reconnect?

Usually when it happens all players around me disappear almost instantaneously that is when I know I go booted I immediately pull to the side hit ebrake and watch 2 to 3 reconnection attempts it usually starts trying to reconnect within few seconds of this event happening.

The one thing that I don't get I never had this problem until about a week and a half ago with the exception of minor random disconnects I was pretty much ok until last night.

When I was attempting to pull into Las Cruses it did it about 5 miles outside of town I got reconnected after doing a quick restart no problem I was ok as soon as I hit a fuel stop and attempted to find any loads I wanted to haul which I couldn't.

I proceeded to head out the back way from Las Cruses and take the southern route out I barely get maybe 2 miles outside town and thats when I got nailed 5 or 6 times with back to back simultaneous disconnects with that error about the steam ID.

Just keep in mind after each one I fully restarted the client and waited 10-30 seconds before restarting it and reconnecting.

I would fully restart like usual but it would continually happen right when I got in before I could even start my engine and put it into gear.

It just kept slamming me left and right.

The best I can do is when I get back from an appointment today if/when it happens again screenshot it right away and watch my clock to see how many seconds before reconnection takes place and I receive that error and post after I figure that out

Hello @Plagueraver,

when it disconnects you, it probably don't disconnects you fully, and only way to fix that is to close steam, wait for a 2-3 minutes and open it again. And about disconnecting, it is your problem. Just restart your router and click that "reset" button on your router to reset router to factory settings.

Best Regards,

Thank you.

The most likely explanation is what I said above, that your client considers you disconnected while the server still considers you connected.

I'll keep a note to look into it in the future.
