ETS2MP massive lag spikes only in MP

Jackaroo05

Question

Game version: 1.31.2.1

TruckersMP version: 1.0.0.4

Current Patch version: 0.2.2.4.0

Computer: https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ROG-GL753VE/specifications/

Game installed on SSD

nVidia GeForce Game ready Driver version: 391.35

Hello. My ETS2MP is having the Crap lagged out of it's back end and the only time I can play MP is right after an update to the MP. It does not happen to me in Singleplayer so it's definitely a MP thing. My MP is installed in my ETS2 game directory to try and fix it but it didn't. I had a talk with @Gromm99 on Discord. It starts before I even sign in. I have two videos of the lag. Both do not show the actual length of the lag spikes that happen every 5-10-15 seconds and lasts at minimum 15 seconds. (these videos are kinda old but they still show the same problem.)

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

Please try this:

  • Press your Tab button -> go to Settings,
  • Uncheck Load Cabin Accessories and Use Fast Loading of models,
  • General -> Development Logging -> Disable,

  • Drivers animation -> Disable,

  • After you did that just click on Apply and ok -> Restart your Game,

  • Press CTRL+ALT+DEL keys, open the Task Manager, disable any unwanted programs you dont want running turn off applications that are running on the background for TruckersMP,

Hi there,

Are all of your drivers up to date?

Have you treid reinstalling the launcher? Also, when deleting, make sure you remove the folder named ETS2MP located here: Documents\ETS2MP

I also suggest you have a look around on our forum, as this issue has been reported a lot of times, and numerous solutions are given. Usually it's a problem with your GPU driver. Especially Nvidia, because they update their driver(s) very regularly.

Cheers,

Hello there,

I hope the following can help with your problem:
- Have you got hired drivers?
- Fire (delete) all of them if you have got drivers - driving / working for you, this solved this issue when I had it in the past :)

If you are still having issues, I recommend that you keep away from high populated areas as such places can also cause lag spikes.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Hello :)

Follow these guides:

Solution 1

> Go to Steam Library

> Right click Euro Truck Simulator 2

> Properties

> Local Files

> Verify Integrity of Game Files

Wait until the game files are verified and try whether the error still occurs.

Solution 2

You should start TruckersMP as admin. This is really important.

Also try to start TruckersMP with DirectX (64)

Guide:

> Go to your steam App
> Go to library
> Go to ETS 2 / ATS
> Click "Play"
> Choose "Launch with DirectX (64-bit). Make sure you chose 64 bit.
> Start ETS 2
> Choose your profile and press "drive"
> Close ETS 2
> Start TruckersMP as admin. TruckersMP will start with DirectX for all time. Except you change it again.

Also try to reinstall TruckersMP.

Go to '%programdata%' and delete the folder 'TruckersMP'. After that uninstall TruckersMP and download the MOD again: https://truckersmp.com/download -> Launch the installer as admin

Solution 3

> Update your graphic card driver.

> Take care not to play in busy areas.

> Pull down your graphics settings.

> You maybe need a new profile, delete old and get a new one.

> Reinstall the mod and make sure that you put correct in directory. (\Steam\SteamApps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2)

> Don't use unsupported mods. Also too many mods can cause your game to crash. You can find supported and allowed mod from here.

> Delete file Documents/ETSMP (Please before deleting, backup this file)

> That's may be caused by missing game file.Go to Steam Library / Right click Euro Truck Simulator 2 / Properties / Local Files / Verify Integrity of Game Files.

> Make sure you have the latest .Net Framework (4.7) & DirectX & Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 and use CCleaner to remove temporary files and obsolete registry paths.

> If it didn't work, don't hesitate send support ticket https://support.truckersmp.com/

I don't have any drivers, and even if i spawn in the least busy spot in ets2, its still happening with the same severity as the most populated spot.

Hello :)

Follow these guides:

Solution 1:

The other way is to try and Clear your computer cache which can be done from CCleaner or Clean Master for PC

I personally reccomend Clean Master because using it from last 2 years and works perfectly :but ofcourse either of them does the job of clearing cache from your computer and other programs

Solution 2:

If that didn't work too you can try Cleaning up your C: Disk by the following steps

Spoiler

Step 1:

airomHK.png

Step 2:

hQH6HeU.png

Step 3: After clicking Disk Cleanup wait for the system to collect junk and tell you via another popup box

Step 4: Tick Mark everything once it shows that this much junk lies , Their will be several like Offline website data,Temprorary files so yeah you can Tick all and Click OK button and let the cleaning happen after that Restart your PC and wait for it to reach idling speed.

Solution 3:

  • Try to launch the game as admin and with DirectX (64)
  • Start ETS 2 normally via Steam (http://prntscr.com/hy5sy4)
  • After that click on "Launch with DirectX (64)" (http://prntscr.com/hy5tev)
  • Wait until you are InGame.
  • Close ETS 2 and start TMP as admin! (http://prntscr.com/hy5u90 http://prntscr.com/hy5uig)

Also make sure your graphic driver is up to date

None of the fixes work.

 Hello :)

Try these

1. Locate and Secure your Profiles, Copy them to a seperate Folder.

ETS2: http://prntscr.com/f6bney

2. Then de-install ETS2 via Steam and de- install TruckersMP.

3. Restart your PC.

4. Then start searching for all old Folders of TruckersMP and ETS2 and Delete them. A Cleaner Software will be helpfull. Sometimes there are "Dumb" Folders/Paths to ETS2, that were created by the TruckersMP Launcher

http://prntscr.com/hommq6

http://prntscr.com/hommzm

http://prntscr.com/homn7x

5. When u deleted all Folders, Restart ur PC Again.

6. Log In to Steam-->Rightclick on Steam--->Settings-->Download-->Steam Library Folders-->Add Library Folder---->Choose another Partition or Hdd and mark it as Default Library.

http://prntscr.com/homntm

http://prntscr.com/homozx

7. After that Procedure, Re- Install ATS/ETS2 via Steam into the new Library, make sure you installing this Version.

ETS2: http://prntscr.com/f7nmne

important: Check TruckersMP for the actual Versions of the Game, they can be different!!

8. Start the Game in Single Player and check the Version. Create a new Profile, but do not Drive. Close the Game.

9. Search with Windows File Explorer the Path to the ETS2 Installation. Keep this Path in Mind.

After that, download the actual Version of TruckersMP, unpack it to a seperate Folder. Install it from this Folder as Administrator.

Make sure that you having the right Path to the Games when you Installing TruckersMP.

You have to check them manually, do not let the Launcher Auto searching for them.

10. After the Installation start the Launcher as Administrator and let him finishing his Downloads. Then start the Multiplayer. If you can Play, close the Game and insert your old Game Pofiles

And while you are playing do you have the charger connected to your PC? It's really critical to be connected because the machine will down clock to reserve battery life so you won't get maximum performance.

Secondly have you checked the clocks and temperature in Gaming Center while you are playing?

ROG_Gaming_Center.PNG

Last, under power options (you will find that in battery properties) have you checked High Performance?

Hello @Jackaroo05,

In the first video the first lag spike at 0:39 is caused by the game trying to connect you to the server. The second lag spike is caused by you joining the live session of the server. so nothing to worry about there.

However, with the second video if you get the same results running the standalone ETS2 then you may need to lower the graphical settings. If the game runs without any lag spikes then this would be a connection problem between yourself and the server you're trying to connect to.

Here are some things you can try to resolve the issue.

1. Try turning your router off for 1 minute and then turning it back on and see if you still have connection problems

2. Try clearing your DNS cache, follow this link for the guide https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+To+Clear+Your+DNS+Cache

3. Try changing your DNS to Google's one and see if that has any effect https://www.techworm.net/2016/08/change-default-dns-google-dns-fast-internet-speeds.html

4. Try re-setting your win-sock cache

Click on windows search program and type "cmd" enter (run cmd as an admin, right click run as admin)

Once you're in, type "netsh winsock reset catalog" enter

Type "netsh int ip reset.log hit" enter

Restart your computer

Reset your network adapter, firewall and DHCP.

This page will guide you through what you need to do and explains for different Windows operating systems as you scroll down.

https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=6653

You type

·         netsh int ip reset reset.txt

·         netsh winsock reset

·         netsh advfirewall reset

into a command prompt window

Also try to verify your game file

> Go to Steam Library

> Right click Euro Truck Simulator 2

> Properties

> Local Files

> Verify Integrity of Game Files

Wait until the game files are verified and try whether the error still occurs.

If this problem still persists then I would advise you to open a ticket at https://support.truckersmp.com/index.php?a=add

Hope this helps :)

So you are saying it's an internet problem?

Plug both in the mains, 1 by the router and the other by your pc.
The one by the router will be plugged into the router and the other into your pc via ethernet cable.

This will then use the powerlines in your house as an additional ethernet cable running through your house.
This will reduce the number of Ethernet cables running through your house.

Here is a video and blog post on how these work
https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/feature/network-wifi/what-is-powerline-3491484/

Hope this helps :),
